Description

The invention relates to a knee cushion for supporting the knees when working in a kneeling posture.

The increasing number of spinal injuries in humans increasingly promotes the realization that work with an arched back should be avoided as far as possible. For this reason, a kneeling posture is preferred in many jobs, in which the spine has to be bent less or not. Kneeling on hard and often cold pads is also problematic and can lead to pressure damage to the knee, such as meniscus damage, bursitis or nerve damage. That is why knee protectors to be worn on the knees and knee pillows to be placed on the floor are becoming increasingly popular, especially among gardeners, tilers or miners.

Knee pads offer the advantage over knee pads that they do not have to be attached to the knees and that you do not have to walk around with the knee pads if you temporarily stop kneeling. However, they support the knees less well than knee pads.

The invention is based on the problem of designing a knee pillow of the type mentioned at the beginning in such a way that a kneeling posture which is as optimal as possible and gentle on the body can be adopted.

This problem is solved according to the invention in that in a foam sheet parallel to each other two corresponding to the two human knees for the right and left knees are provided, leading into the foam sheet.

Such different configurations for the right and left knees, which, like the feet, are mirror-symmetrical to one another, result in optimal support of the knees. Therefore, a person kneeling on the knee pillow according to the invention has an even better grip than when using knee protectors, and inadmissibly high pressure loads on the knees are avoided. The knee pillow according to the invention can be used with advantage particularly in such work over knee protectors in which one can remain in one and the same place for a long time.

It is particularly advantageous if, according to a further development of the invention, each of the formations is followed by a shell-shaped support surface which, when kneeling in the knee cushion, reaches the respective shin. Such a support surface supports part of the body weight over both shins instead of over the knees, so that the knees are relieved. Furthermore, the feet are less stressed when kneeling because the respective shin occupies an elevated position when kneeling. You could even form the formations so deep that there is an exclusive support via the shins.

The knee cushion has optimal cushioning properties with sufficiently high dimensional stability and is particularly inexpensive to manufacture if it consists of polyurethane foam.

Another advantageous development of the knee pillow according to the invention is that its bottom surface on the front side facing away from one of the knee pillow ends has an upward recess for reaching under the knee pillow when the knee pillow lies on a surface. This allows you to grip the knee cushion particularly well and, for example, push a small amount forward if you want to change your kneeling position.

The knee cushion can be gripped particularly well and without undesirably high holding forces if, in addition to the recess in its upper side, a recessed grip is formed in the region of the recess.

When working, smaller objects can be placed on the knee cushion if, according to another development of the invention, a storage trough is provided for the knees between the shapes in the top.

Fig.1
Fig.2
eine Vorderansicht des Kniekissens.
The invention allows various embodiments. To further clarify its basic principle, one of these is shown in the drawing and is described below. This shows in
Fig. 1
a plan view of a knee pillow according to the invention,
Fig. 2
a front view of the knee cushion.

As can be seen in FIG. 1, the knee pillow is formed from a rectangular foam sheet 1. This is made of polyurethane. In this foam sheet 1 lead from its top symmetrically to a center line 2 two formations 3, 4, which are shaped exactly according to the human knees, wherein in the upper formation 3 seen in FIG. 1 fits a right knee and a left knee fits into the formation 4. Just like with shoes, the knee pillow can be made with different widths.

The formations 3, 4 merge into bowl-shaped support surfaces 5, 6, which extend into the side surface of the foam sheet 1 facing a user. When kneeling, the respective shin is supported in addition to the knee in the shape 3 or 4 on these support surfaces 5 or 6.

Figure 2 shows that the foam sheet 1 in its bottom surface 7 in the region of its front side has a recess 8 which is dimensioned such that one can reach into this recess 8 in the knee pillow, for example lying on the floor, to grasp the knee cushion to be able to. Above the recess 8 there is a recessed grip 9 in the top of the foam plate 1, which further promotes the comfortable gripping and holding of the knee cushion.

Between the formations 3, 4, a storage tray 10 is arranged in the top of the foam plate 1, which allows smaller objects to be placed on the knee cushion when the knee cushion is used.
