Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a cast composite cast cylinder or cylinder block according to the preamble of
From today's point of view, aluminum alloys are the most important future materials in motor vehicle construction with increasing application tendency. In addition to other advantages, the weight advantage over iron materials is primarily exploited. This has noticeable effects not only on the piston but also particularly on the cylinder or cylinder block as the heaviest single part of a motor vehicle. Weight reductions of 40 to 60% can be achieved or have already been achieved by switching the cylinder block from gray cast iron to aluminum-silicon alloys for the engine block. Z: MTZ Motortechnische Zeitschrift 35 (1974), pp. 33-41, describes a cylinder produced from a hypereutectic aluminum-silicon alloy of the type AlSi17Cu4 using the low-pressure casting process. The evenly distributed and evenly formed silicon grains produced in the cylinder running surface by primary separation from the hypereutectic aluminum-silicon alloy have a grain size between 30 and 80 µm. After casting the cylinder or cylinder block, the cylinder bore is mechanically machined by pre-drilling and fine boring and then pre-honed and finely honed so that the silicon grains in the cylinder raceway are smoothed and initially form a plane with the surrounding alloy matrix. After the honing process, the alloy matrix between the silicon grains becomes light by electrochemical processing reset so that the silicon grains as a supporting structure for the piston rings and the piston skirt protrude slightly from the unreinforced cylinder raceway, ie by 0.5 to 2.0 µm, preferably 0.8 to 1.5 µm. Such a cylinder running surface can only be used in combination with a light metal piston coated at least on the piston skirt with an iron layer of approximately 20 μm thick, in order to avoid contact between the alloy matrix, the cylinder running surface and the light metal of the piston under extreme running conditions and under all circumstances. The iron coating on the piston skirt significantly reduces wear on the piston skirt and eliminates the tendency to seize between the piston skirt and cylinder liner. The disadvantage of such a cylinder or cylinder block is that the entire cylinder block has to be cast from a hypereutectic aluminum-silicon alloy which can be produced with considerable effort.
Also known is a cylinder or cylinder block made of aluminum alloy of the type AlSi9Cu3, in which a 50 to 80 μm thick base layer made of nickel with silicon carbide particles of a size of 1 to 3 μm dispersed therein is applied to the surface of the cylinder bore . The cylinder race is then honed. The production of the nickel dispersion coating is associated with a considerable process outlay. In particular, detoxification devices for the pretreatment baths are necessary as part of the electroplating system. The sludge generated during disposal must be collected and disposed of properly, and fume cupboards with built-in washers must be installed in the working areas of the coating baths. In addition comes that in the case of repair, the handling of the regeneration of the coating is complex and cumbersome.
Die in der Zylinderlauffläche infiltrierte Hybrid-Faser ist teuer und die tribologischen Eigenschaften unter Betriebsbedingungen sind schlechter als diejenigen der aus übereutektischen Aluminium-Silizium-Legierungen hergestellten Zylinderlaufflächen.DE-A-3 725 495 provides a cylinder block for internal combustion engines, in which the cylinder track consists of a cylindrical, fiber-reinforced section made of a mixture of an alumina-based fiber with a volume fraction of 8 to 20% and a carbon fiber with a volume fraction of 0.3 to 15% with a light metal matrix, the fiber based on aluminum oxide containing up to 25% silicon oxide. In the case of such a cylinder running surface, it is still necessary to use a light metal piston, the jacket of which has an electrodeposited iron layer covered by a likewise galvanically deposited tin layer in order to avoid contact between the alloy matrix of the cylinder block and the light metal piston. The hybrid fiber infiltrated in the cylinder barrel is expensive and the tribological properties under operating conditions are worse than those of the cylinder barrel made of hypereutectic aluminum-silicon alloys.
A cylinder block is known from EP-A-0 449 356, which is cast from a hypoeutectic aluminum-silicon alloy, wherein a hollow cylindrical body made of ceramic fibers with silicon grains inserted therein is cast into the cylinder with the aluminum matrix of the cylinder block. The fiber molded body has no tribological function, but only serves as a holder for the silicon grains.
It is the object of the present invention to provide an improved cast composite cast cylinder or cylinder block made of hypoeutectic aluminum-silicon alloy with cast sleeve made of hypereutectic aluminum-silicon alloy, which also has the advantages of a composite cast cylinder or cylinder block with cast-in gray cast iron liner combines the advantages of a cylinder or cylinder block cast from aluminum-silicon alloy without tread protection.
This object is achieved by the measures specified in claim 1 or
By using the centrifugal casting process, there is a strong accumulation of primary solidified silicon crystals on the inside of the liner made of hypereutectic aluminum-silicon alloy, the enrichment being greater the higher the silicon content of the hypereutectic aluminum-silicon alloy.
Due to the centrifugal force, there is a kind of phase separation during the spin cycle, with the result that a delimited zone which is highly enriched with silicon and is surrounded by the aluminum matrix is formed on the inside of the liner. The structure on the inside of the liner corresponds approximately to an AlSi35 alloy.
In the liquid pressure casting process, the aluminum-silicon alloy melt is poured into the casting mold and then solidified at high speed under a pressure of 100 to 1000 bar, so that a fine structure with an increase in the proportion of grain boundary hardening and excellent density feeding, which practically ensures freedom from pores , can be achieved. Since the rate of solidification can be controlled, the size of the silicon grains can be set with sufficient accuracy depending on the application.
In addition, the precipitation of the primary solidified silicon crystals can be increased in both cases by shifting the eutectic by alloying nickel and manganese to alloys with a comparatively lower silicon content. When using the centrifugal casting method, the density difference between the aluminum matrix of approx. 2.7 g / cm³ and the deposited silicon of approx. 2.3 g / cm³ is used.
The running surfaces of the liners produced in this way only have to be honed after the casting and no longer have to be subjected to electrochemical processing for the purpose of resetting the alloy matrix surrounding the silicon grains. The The cylinder surface is therefore less rough and therefore exerts a lower surface tension on the lubricating oil, so that there is a good oil distribution and a very thin oil film. As a result, oil consumption is reduced and HC emissions are reduced.
Both the die casting and the die casting are suitable for the production of the composite casting cylinder or cylinder block.
