Claims (6)
- A wrapping device for producing packets (4), the device (2) comprising a conveyor (5) having a number of equally spaced seats (9), and movable in steps to feed said seats (9) along a path extending through a succession of equally spaced holding stations (9a) at which said seats (9) are adapted to stop; the device (2) further comprising heating means (22, 30) adapted to cooperate with the end of each said packet (4), said heating means comprising, for each said seat, at least one heating element (22) which is adapted to travel with said seat (9) along said path, and is a passive element comprising a portion defining a heat accumulating block (24), and induction means (30) for heating said heat accumulating blocks (24); characterized in that each said seat (9) extends transversely of said path and is adapted to accommodate a respective said packet (4) with a relevant end wall (11) arranged at an open axial end of said seat (9); said induction means (30) are located in each of at least some of said holding stations (9a) in a fixed position facing said axial end of said seats to supply heat to said accumulating blocks (24) as they stop at said holding stations (9a); each said accumulating block (24) faces said axial end of its respective seat and is movable in relation to said conveyor (5) transversely of said path and to and from a heating operating position at the axial end of the relevant seat (9), in which position it contacts, in use, said end wall of said packet.
- A device as claimed in Claim 1, characterized in that each said heating element (22) forms part of a compacting member (12) which, when the heating element (22) is in said heating operating position, cooperates, in use, with said end wall (11) of a respective packet (4) housed inside said seat (9) to compact said packet (4) transversely of said path.
- A device as claimed in Claim 2, characterized in that each said compacting member (12) comprises an arm (18) supporting the relevant accumulating block (24), and drive means (27) to oscillate said arm (18) about an axis (14).
- A device as claimed in Claim 2 or 3, characterized in that each said compacting member (12) comprises a rocker arm (13) pivoting centrally about a respective axis (14) and including two arms (17, 18) extending on either side of said axis (14); one (18) of said arms (17, 18) supporting the relevant accumulating block (24), and drive means (27) being connected to the other (17) of said arms (17, 18) to oscillate said rocker arm (13) about said axis (14).
- A device as claimed in Claim 3 or 4, characterized in that said drive means (27) are designed so as to maintain said accumulating block (24) in said heating operating position along a first portion of said path, and in a raised idle position away from the axial end of the relevant seat (9) along a second portion of said path.
- A device as claimed in Claim 5, characterized by further comprising a fixed wall (7) arranged facing said lateral axial end of said seats (9); said fixed wall (7) being defined, on the side facing said conveyor (5), by a surface (31) having a recessed portion (32) located a greater distance from the conveyor (5) than said surface (31), and extending over said second portion of said path; said fixed wall (7) supporting, at said surface (31) and recessed portion (32), a number of induction members (30) defining said induction means (30) and each located at a respective said holding station (9a).
