Definitions
- the combustion process of a solid fuel such as wood comprises four phases. At a relatively low temperature of about 100°C the wood begins to dry through evaporation of the moisture still present therein. At higher temperatures of about 150 to 350°C degassing or pyrolysis of the wood then occurs. The chemical structure of the wood is herein broken down with formation of volatile compounds such as CO, H 2 O, CH 4 and lower hydrocarbons as well as tar-like components which are volatile at decomposition temperature but which condense at lower temperature. When the temperature is increased still further to about 550°C and oxygen is added the volatile compounds resulting from the pyrolysis burn. The remaining solid component consists of almost pure carbon and burns at a temperature of roughly 800°C when oxygen is added.

Claims (12)
- Dispositif de combustion (1) muni d'au moins une chambre de combustion (4), d'au moins une ouverture (3) raccordée à la chambre de combustion (4) pour faire entrer par aspiration l'air ambiant (P1), d'au moins une ouverture (5) raccordée à la chambre de combustion (4) pour évacuer les produits de combustion (E) dans l'environnement, et d'au moins une installation pour épurer les produits de combustion (E), raccordée au dispositif de combustion(1), cette installation d'épuration comportant des moyens agencés entre la chambre de combustion (4) et l'ouverture d'évacuation (5) pour mélanger de l'air (S6) aux produits de combustion dans le but de brûler ultérieurement ces produits, caractérisé par des moyens commandables (26') pour fermer l'ouverture d'alimentation en air ambiant (3), lesdits moyens de fermeture comprenant une vanne (26') actionnée par un dispositif d'entraínement (27) sous la commande d'un dispositif de commande (34) pour ouvrir uniquement au début et à la fin du processus de combustion.
- Dispositif de combustion (1) tel que stipulé dans la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que l'installation d'épuration comporte des moyens pour chauffer l'air qui doit être mélangé aux produits de combustion.
- Dispositif de combustion (1) tel que stipulé dans la revendication 2, caractérisé en ce que les moyens de chauffage comprennent au moins un échangeur de chaleur (13 ; 29) raccordé en vue d'un transfert de chaleur à la chambre de combustion (4).
- Dispositif de combustion (1) tel que stipulé dans l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que les moyens de mélange sont conçus pour mélanger l'air aux produits de combustion à contre-courant.
- Dispositif de combustion (1) tel que stipulé dans la revendication 4, caractérisé en ce que les moyens de mélange comprennent au moins un conduit d'alimentation en air (18) débouchant dans la partie supérieure de la chambre de combustion (4).
- Dispositif de combustion (1) tel que stipulé dans la revendication 5, caractérisé en ce que l'installation d'épuration comporte des moyens (11) pour pousser l'air à mélanger à travers le conduit d'alimentation (18) jusqu'à la chambre de combustion (4).
- Dispositif de combustion (1) tel que stipulé dans l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé par des moyens agencés dans la chambre de combustion (4) à proximité de l'ouverture d'évacuation (5) pour prolonger le temps que les gaz de combustion y séjournent.
- Dispositif de combustion (1) tel que stipulé dans la revendication 7, caractérisé en ce que les moyens pour prolonger la durée de séjour comprennent au moins une chicane (32) approximativement en forme de C recouvrant partiellement l'ouverture d'évacuation (5).
- Procédé d'utilisation du dispositif de combustion tel que stipulé dans la revendication 1 pour épurer des produits créés pendant un processus de combustion, comprenant les étapes consistant à mélanger de l'air aux produits de combustion et à éliminer par une post-combustion les restes de substances nocives encore présentes dans les produits de combustion, caractérisé en ce que le processus de combustion, après son démarrage, est entretenu uniquement par l'air de post-combustion.
- Procédé tel que stipulé dans la revendication 9, caractérisé en ce que l'air est chauffé avant d'être mélangé aux produits de combustion.
- Procédé tel que stipulé dans la revendication 10, caractérisé en ce que l'air est chauffé par la chaleur dégagée pendant le processus de combustion.
- Procédé tel que stipulé dans l'une quelconque des revendications 9 à 11, caractérisé en ce que l'air est mélangé aux produits de combustion à contre-courant.
