Abstract
Description
Eine solche Leckanzeigevorrichtung ist bekannt aus der US-PS 5 172 584.The invention relates to a leak detection device for detecting leaks in the walls of containers according to the preamble of
Such leak detection devices are important for the monitoring of storage containers and other containers in chemical plants, from which substances can escape, which can lead to environmental pollution or other damage. One of these dangers is the ingress of leaked liquid substances into the soil and groundwater.
For this reason it is already known from DE-OS 42 31 233, for example, to design containers with double walls and to connect a leak warning device to the intermediate space formed by the double wall. Such protection against the leakage of harmful substances from containers is very expensive and it is poorly suited for retrofitting containers in already existing plants.
A leak detection device is known from US Pat. No. 5,172,584, in which a container is provided with a second base, which is attached either while penetrating the side wall of the container during the manufacture of the container or subsequently inside the container. This second partition forming a partition is made of steel, for example of steel plates welded together, and is welded to the side wall of the container, so that a tight interstitial space is created between the main base of the container and the inserted partition. This monitoring room is filled with a granulate of sand, gravel or porous organic material, and a leak detection detector is connected to the monitoring room. With this leak detection device too, the construction of the partition is expensive and time-consuming, and in the case of retrofitting existing containers, considerable additional costs arise due to long downtimes of the container.
Multi-layer plastic sealing sheets are known for use in landfills (DE-OS 35 35 705), which contain, inter alia, a permeation-inhibiting layer made from a mixture of epoxy and polysulfite.
The invention has for its object to develop a leak detection device of the type mentioned and a method for its manufacture, which are simple and inexpensive in their construction or implementation and with which existing containers can be retrofitted in a short time.
To solve this problem, a leak detection device according to the preamble of
Further embodiments of the leak detection device according to the invention are mentioned in
A method for producing and repairing a leak detection device according to the invention is characterized by the features of claim 8. Embodiments of this method are mentioned in
By means of the invention, a leak detection device can be manufactured by using easy-to-process and repair-friendly materials, whereby the costs for installation and repairs are kept low and only short downtimes of the system are required for installation or repair.
The invention is particularly suitable for monitoring the tightness of the bottoms of the large number of large flat-bottom tanks in which mineral oils and fuels are stored. In principle, however, the invention can be used for any container, including its side walls.
The layer (partition) made of polysulfide is characterized by its high elasticity and density as well as its high chemical resistance, particularly against mineral oil products and fuels. To increase its strength and reduce its gas permeability, a copolymer, for example an epoxy resin, can be added to it, which at the same time increases the chemical resistance to certain substances, such as hydrocarbons. In order to discharge possible electrical charges, an electrically conductive substance, for example carbon, can also be added to the polysulfide layer.

Figure 1 shows a section of a bottom wall of a container provided with a leak detection device according to the invention. For example, it can be a section of the bottom of a flat-bottom tank. The actual container base is designated by 1. A
The
While in the embodiment according to FIG. 1 the forces K acting on the
To improve the adhesion of the polysulfide layer applied to the above-mentioned underlays, the underlay can be pretreated (primed) with an adhesive primer.
Hier ist das Polysulfidmaterial in Form einer Folie selbst mit Noppen versehen, über welche die auf die Trennwand wirkenden Kräfte auf den Behälterboden 1 übertragen werden.FIG. 3 shows an embodiment which is constructed similarly to the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 2, but in which a separate carrier layer 3a for the polysulfide material is dispensed with. Here, the polysulfide material in the form of a film itself is provided with knobs via which the forces acting on the partition wall are transmitted to the
If the
In the event of a leak in the
