Description

The invention relates to a length-adjustable column according to the preamble of claim 1 and a spring securing clip for such a column according to the preamble of claim 9.

Such adjustable columns are well known and commercially available. The spring securing clip is installed by axially placing the base plate in the area of the larger opening and by moving it transversely to the axis when the groove in the piston rod, which is regularly an annular groove, is reached. So that the spring clip can be lifted out of the position surrounding the free end of the piston rod again, for example by means of a screwdriver, and the securing clip can be moved transversely to the piston rod until the larger opening receives the piston rod, whereupon an axial pulling off of the securing clip from the piston rod is then possible , the section of the spring clip which is located above the larger opening and which holds the piston rod in its position in the smaller opening is bent up from the base plate in such a way that a screwdriver can be pushed between the base plate and the spring clip. This has the disadvantage that when used on deep-pile carpets, the carpet is pushed between the spring clip and the base plate and hooked there and then the spring clip lifts off the base plate when the chair is moved, as a result of which the securing clip is loosened overall. This is disadvantageous; on the other hand, the known Securing clip an automatic assembly on the free end of the piston rod.

FR-A-2 540 198 shows a spring securing clip which has a base plate and a spring clip bent from it and bent over to it, the base plate having a larger opening which can be pushed over the free end of the piston rod and a smaller, an annular groove in has a bolt or a shaft adapted opening, wherein the smaller and the larger opening penetrate each other like a keyhole. The base plate is angled upwards in the area of the larger hole, so that the bolt or the shaft can be inserted radially. In use, the bolt or shaft penetrates the smaller opening, the spring clip, which has an inner cutout, receives the bolt or shaft and partially surrounds it in the direction of the larger opening. In its end area, the spring clip runs largely without a gap in relation to the base plate.
Such a spring securing clip is suitable for fixing a piston rod to a base plate in a length-adjustable column for chairs, tables or the like, as is known, for example, from EP-A-0 366 889 or EP-A-0 420 219 . These two documents show a length-adjustable column for chairs, tables or the like, with a standpipe and with a pneumatic or hydropneumatic length adjustment element arranged concentrically to a common central longitudinal axis, the housing of which is supported radially in the standpipe and guided in the direction of the axis is and the piston rod is fixed in the region of its free end on a base plate of the standpipe in the direction of the axis by means of a spring securing clip which has a base plate and a spring clip bent from it and bent over to it, the base plate having an annular groove in the piston rod has adapted opening which is penetrated by the piston rod.

The invention is based on the object of designing a length-adjustable column of the generic type and a spring securing clip of the generic type in such a way that inadvertent loosening of the securing clip is ruled out while maintaining a fully automatic mounting option.

This object is achieved in a length-adjustable column according to the preamble of claim 1 by the features in the characterizing part of claim 1 and in a spring securing clip according to the preamble of claim 9 by the features in the characterizing part of claim 9.

In Anspruch 3 bzw. The spring clip is designed so that it holds the free end of the piston rod in the smaller opening, that is to say in the firmly locked position between the securing clip and the end of the piston rod. Furthermore, the section of the spring clip that surrounds the end of the piston rod runs flat and approximately without a gap into the facing upper side of the base plate of the securing clip. On the other hand, however, a suitable tool, for example a screwdriver, can be inserted into the area of the larger opening not covered by the spring clip and pushed under the spring clip so that it can be lifted off the base plate to release the securing clip. Claims 2 and 10 define this area for inserting a suitable tool more precisely. A further development is specified in claims 3 and 11, as a result of which the clamp is also firmly clamped in the axial direction to the end of the piston rod. In claims 4 and 12, an embodiment is laid down which solves the task particularly advantageously. Through the further training according to claims 5 to 8 or 13 to 16 it is achieved that the piston rod relative to the base plate of the standpipe is kept free of play in the direction of its central longitudinal axis, which in turn also prevents accidental loosening of the securing clip becomes. In addition, it is achieved that a gas spring is kept free of play in a standpipe in the direction of its central longitudinal axis.

The chair column shown in the drawing shows a standpipe 1 in which a length-adjustable gas spring 2 is arranged as a pneumatic or hydropneumatic piston-cylinder adjusting element. The standpipe 1 and the gas spring 2 have a common central longitudinal axis 3.

An outer housing 4 of the gas spring 2 is displaceably supported in the direction of the axis 3 in a guide bush 5, which is arranged at one end 6 of the standpipe 1, which is upper in the drawing. This outer housing 4 of the gas spring 2 can be its housing itself or a protective tube surrounding it on the outside.

A piston rod 7 protrudes from the housing 4 of the gas spring 2 and is supported in the direction of the axis 3 via an axial roller bearing 8 in relation to a base plate 9 of the standpipe 1. The base plate 9 is located at one end 6 opposite the other - in the drawing shown below - end 10 of the standpipe 1. A pin 11 of the piston rod 7 passing through the axial roller bearing 8 extends through an opening 12 of the base plate 9 which is concentric with the axis 3. It is against the underside of the base plate 9 by means of a washer 13 and a Spring securing clip 14 secured against pulling out. The diameter of the opening 12 is larger than the diameter of the pin 11. The fastening described allows the gas spring 2 to be rotated relative to the standpipe 1. Due to the radial play 15 between the pin 11 and the opening 12, it can be inclined to a small extent with respect to the standpipe 1, that is to say it is guided in the guide bush 5 without tilting. Finally, it is fixed with its piston rod 7 in the direction of the axis 3 relative to the standpipe 1, so that when the gas spring 2 is adjusted in length, the housing 4 of the gas spring 2 is moved out of the standpipe 1 or pushed into it by actuating an actuating pin 16. The actuating pin 16 is located on the end of the housing 4 of the gas spring 2 opposite the piston rod 7. A chair seat or a table top is also fastened here.

The standpipe 1 has, adjacent to the end 10, a conical section 17 tapering slightly towards it, by means of which the standpipe 1 is fastened in a corresponding cone bushing of a chair base or the like. is possible.

The ring-shaped base plate 9 is supported on a cup-shaped rim 18 of the standpipe 1 which is rolled inwards in the region of its end 10. This inwardly rolled edge is approximately semicircular in cross-section, i.e. it has approximately the cross-section of a semi-circular ring.

In order to prevent the base plate 9 from being pulled upwards out of the standpipe 1, protrusions 20 projecting from the inner wall 19 of the standpipe 1 are formed directly above the base plate 9 and can be produced by being pressed in from the outside. For example, six such projections 20 can be distributed evenly over the circumference. This measure serves to prevent the gas spring 2 with the base plate 9 being pulled out of the standpipe 1 upwards, for example when the chair is lifted on its seat part. This Protrusions 20 do not have any major forces, but only the weight of the standpipe 1 with a base attached to it.

So far the primarily as a chair column, but also as a column for tables or the like. serving column has been described up to here, it is generally known, commercially available and described and shown, for example, in EP-B-0 366 889 (corresponding to US-A-4,969,619).

The spring securing clip 14 is shown in more detail in the drawing figures 2 to 4. It is formed in one piece overall and has a flat base plate 21 which is intended to bear against the washer 13 or directly against the underside of the base plate 9. In this base plate 21, two mutually penetrating, generally circular openings 22, 23 are formed, which overall have a keyhole-like shape due to their penetration. The larger opening 22 has a diameter D which is slightly larger than the diameter D 'of the pin 11 of the piston rod 7. The smaller opening 23 has a diameter d which is smaller than the diameter D' of the pin 11 but somewhat larger than that Inner diameter d 'of an annular groove 24 for receiving the base plate 21 in the pin 11 of the piston rod 7. The transition 25 from the smaller opening 23 into the larger opening 22 is of course such that no constriction occurs here, as can be seen from FIG. 4.

An outer, approximately U-shaped spring clip 26 and an inner spring clip 27 are bent from the base plate 21 via an arc section 28 to the base plate 21. The end of the spring clip 26 ends on the base plate 21, as can be seen in FIG. 3. The inner cutout 29 of the spring clip 26, which is to a large extent filled again by the spring tab 27, leaves the smaller opening 23 completely free, as can be seen in FIG. 2. On the other hand, the outer curved section 30 of the spring clip 26 extends over the central region of the larger opening 22, but leaves in its outermost region a crescent-shaped region 31 of the larger opening 22. The middle spring tab 27 at least largely covers the area of the smaller opening 23 of the base plate 21.

The spring securing clip 14 is assembled as follows:

The gas spring 2 has been pushed into the standpipe 1 with the axial roller bearing 8 plugged onto the pin 11 and the free end of the pin 11 has been pushed through the opening 12 of the base plate 9. The washer 13 has been placed.

Now the securing clip 14 is placed with its base plate 21 on the pin 11. The annular groove 24 has an extension a in the direction of the central longitudinal axis 3, which is somewhat greater than the thickness b of the base plate 21. After the base plate 21 has been plugged in and the annular groove 24 has been reached, the securing clip 14 can be displaced transversely to the axis 3 are so that the inner edge of the base plate 21 reaches the annular groove 24 in the region of the opening 23. As long as the pin 11 is in the larger opening 22, its free end rests against the curved section 30 of the spring clip 26 and against the spring clip 27 and in particular deflects the spring clip 26 from its position against the base plate 21 shown in FIG. 3 . If the securing clip 14 is displaced transversely to the axis 3 so that the inner edge of the base plate 21 reaches the annular groove 24 in the region of the opening 23, then the pin 11 comes into the region of the cutout 29, so that the spring clip 26 is in its contact can deform back against the base plate 21. It now encloses the pin 11 in the direction of the larger opening 22 so that the securing clip 14 cannot detach from the pin 11 by a movement transverse to the axis 3. This securing is further supported by the fact that the spring tab 27 rests in the elastically deformed state against the end face 32 of the pin 11, as a result of which the spring securing clip 14 is also braced in the direction of the axis 3 relative to the pin 11.

If the securing clip 14 is to be dismantled, then a pointed or narrow flat object, such as a screwdriver, can be pushed in the crescent-shaped area 31 of the larger opening 22 under the curved section 30 of the spring clip 26 and raised until it is above the Face 32 of the pin 11 is located. Then the securing clip 14 can be moved transversely to the axis 3 with the same movement so that the pin 11 enters the larger opening 22 of the base plate 21, from where the securing clip 14 then from Pin 11 can be removed. Since this crescent-shaped area 31 is used to disassemble the securing clip 14, the curved section 30 of the spring clip 26 can run flush against the base plate 21 largely without a gap, as can be seen in particular in FIG. 3. The threads or fibers of high-flour carpets, which could otherwise loosen the securing clip 14, cannot pass under this area 31.

The spring securing clip 14 'according to FIGS. 6 and 7 differs from the spring securing clip 14 described so far only in that lateral spring tongues 33 are formed on the base plate 21 in the vicinity of the arc section 28, which are approximately parallel to the legs 34 of the U-shaped spring clip 26 extend and end approximately at the beginning of its curved portion 30. The spring tongues 33 are - as can be seen in FIG. 7 - bent with respect to the essentially flat base plate 21, specifically to the side facing away from the spring clip 26. Its free end 35 ends approximately in the plane of the base plate 21, as can be seen in FIG. 7. The most distant curved area 36 from the base plate 21 is located approximately transversely to the center of the small opening 23.

If the spring securing clip 14 'is used to secure a gas spring 2 in a standpipe 1, as described above with reference to FIGS. 1 and 5, then the spring tongues 33 lie on both sides of the pin 11 of the piston rod 7 with the curved regions 36 corresponding pressure against the washer 13 and press it in turn against the base plate 9 of the standpipe 1. If such a washer 13 is not present, then they lie directly against the base plate 9. As a result, the piston rod 7 and thus the gas spring 2 itself is determined in the standpipe 1 without play with respect to the central longitudinal axis 3. This eliminates a noticeable axial play between gas spring 2 and standpipe 1, which could be perceived as uncomfortable when lifting a chair or armchair. The two curved regions 36 are intersected by a plane in which the central longitudinal axis 3 also lies. Since the free end 35 of each spring tongue 33 ends in the region of the base plate 21, the spring securing clip 14 'can be easily inserted into the annular groove 24 on the pin 11 of the piston rod 7 and against the washer 13 or the base plate 9.
