Dies wird dadurch erreicht, daß in der eingangsgenannten Aufschnittschneidemaschine ein die Position der Spannvorrichtung abtastender elektrischer Stellungsmelder vorgesehen und dessen Ausgang an eine Steuerung für den Messermotor und für den Verstellantrieb der Anschlagplatte gelegt ist, wobei der Messermotor abgeschaltet und die Anschlagplatte in die die Messerschneide abdeckende Position verstellt wird, wenn ein die geöffnete, hochgeklappte Position der Spannvorrichtung meldendes Signal anliegt. Man hat erkannt, daß die Position einer Spannvorrichtung auf der Maschine als Kriterium für die Aktivierung des Messermotors und der Anschlagplatte mit besonderem Vorteil herangezogen werden kann. Ist ein Schnittgut eingespannt, dann liegt dieses im kritischen Schnittbereich und der Zugriff durch das Bedienungspersonal wird unterbunden.
