Abstract

Method of producing a plaster finish with ornamental patterns and tools for carrying out said method. The method is characterized by applying a plaster layer on the surface to be coated; after a given time in which setting starts, tracing the desired pattern using a tool (1) guided by a tool guide (2) in order to remove plaster as defined by the contours of the pattern to appear in colour; preparing a plaster having the desired colour for the pattern surface(s); applying the plaster to regions of the pattern corresponding to the colour before setting of the first plaster layer; and removing the coloured plaster excess which has overflowed after setting of the coloured layer.

Description

The present invention relates to a process for producing plaster with decorative patterns and to the tools enabling the process to be carried out.

In the prior art, plasters with decorative patterns were obtained by painting the pattern on the plaster after the setting of the latter was completed. Such a practice has the disadvantage of seeing the paint layer either badly adhere to the coating, or deteriorate and eliminate over time due to lack of penetration.

The object of the invention is therefore to propose a process for producing plaster with decorative patterns making it possible to have patterns that are durable over time, while retaining good waterproofing properties for the surface of the dwelling or of the interior. building covered with such a motif.

  • à déposer une première couche d'enduit sur la surface à revêtir ;
  • après un temps déterminé assurant le démarrage de la prise, à tracer à l'aide d'un outil guidé par un guide-outil, un motif souhaité pour enlever l'enduit selon les contours du motif devant apparaître en couleur;
  • à préparer un enduit coloré de la couleur souhaitée dans la ou les surfaces du motif ;
This object is achieved by the fact that the process consists
  • depositing a first layer of plaster on the surface to be coated;
  • after a determined time ensuring the start of the setting, to trace using a tool guided by a tool guide, a desired pattern to remove the coating according to the contours of the pattern to appear in color;
  • preparing a colored coating of the desired color in the surface or surfaces of the pattern;
  • depositing this colored coating at the locations of the pattern corresponding to the color before the first coating layer hardens and
  • removing the excess colored coating which would have overflowed after the colored layer had hardened.

According to another particular feature, the step of removing the coating with the tool is carried out between 30 and 60 minutes after the laying of the first layer.

According to another particular feature, the coatings constituting each part of the pattern are prepared at the same time.

Selon une autre particularité, l'enduit coloré est préparé après enlèvement de la première couche d'enduit dans les endroits souhaités et cet enduit coloré est additionné d'un accélérateur de priseAccording to another particularity, the colored coating is prepared after removal of the first layer of coating in the desired locations and this colored coating is added with a setting accelerator

Another object of the invention is to propose tools allowing the implementation of the method.

This object is achieved by the fact that the tool for removing the coating layer according to the patterns consists of a knife, the blade of which forms, with a flat surface serving as a bearing surface on a tool guide, an arch.

Selon une autre particularité, l'arche a une forme trapézoïdale.In another feature, the arch has a trapezoidal shape.

Selon une autre particularité, l'arche a une forme elliptique.In another feature, the arch has an elliptical shape.

According to another particularity, the arch has a semi-circular or U-shaped shape.

In another feature, the blade has, in a direction perpendicular to the arch shape, at least one bevel (b) to allow the ejection of the coating.

According to another particularity, the blade has, according to the faces of the arch, a slight draft (a) which makes it possible to avoid stuffing of the coating.

According to another particularity, the tool guide consists for rectilinear reasons of a rule formed by two spaced U-shaped profiles, of a width corresponding to the width of the arch of the knife, by at least two spacers made integral with the ends of U-profiles.

In another feature, the height of the arch is less than or equal to the sum of the height of the profile and the thickness of the coating.

According to another particularity, in the case of a trapezoidal knife, the tool guide comprises on the faces of the U-shaped profiles oriented opposite the splinter-proof lips.

According to another particular feature, the tool guide consists of a circular ring formed by two U-shaped profiles of circular shape and connected together by at least two spacers.

According to another particular feature, the tool guide consists of a compass, one of the ends of which includes a device allowing the knife to be fixed.

  • la figure 1A représente une vue en perspective de l'outil formant le couteau pour enlever l'enduit et du guide-outil selon une variante de réalisation ;
  • la figure 1B représente une vue de l'outil associé avec une coupe selon BB du guide-outil ;
  • la figure 1C représente une vue en coupe selon CC de l'outil ;
  • la figure 2 représente une vue de face d'une façade revêtue d'un enduit portant un motif utilisant le procédé de l'invention ;
Other features and advantages of the present invention will appear more clearly on reading the description below made with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
  • FIG. 1A represents a perspective view of the tool forming the knife for removing the coating and of the tool guide according to an alternative embodiment;
  • FIG. 1B represents a view of the tool associated with a section along BB of the tool guide;
  • Figure 1C shows a sectional view along CC of the tool;
  • 2 shows a front view of a facade coated with a coating bearing a pattern using the method of the invention;
  • Figure 3 is a sectional view of the same facade.

To obtain the pattern of FIG. 2, the process implemented consists in depositing on the facade of the house or of the rough masonry building (6) a layer of plaster (3) of the desired color. Then using a tool, the description of which will be made later, remove part of the coating applied after having waited sufficient time to ensure a start of setting. The time to ensure setting start will be, for example, of the order of 30 to 60 minutes depending on the climatic conditions and the nature of the support (6).

The coating is removed completely or partially at the places which must support the pattern and according to a geometry given by the tool guide. Thus, with a straight tool guide, a rectangular pattern can be made, such as that shown in FIG. 2 and comprising two triangles whose vertices meet at the center of the rectangle. In this recess thus formed, after having prepared it, a second coating of the same kind is deposited with which a dye has been mixed. The dye will be the desired color for the pattern. After the complete setting of the plaster (3) and the colored parts (40, 41) has been obtained, the surplus plaster of different tint is removed over the whole of the total surface using a scraper trowel. A coated surface is thus obtained with two coatings of different color deposited according to the previously traced pattern. The colored parts (40, 41, 42, 43) are colored in the mass and ensure with the non-colored parts a perfect grip guaranteeing good impermeability of the coated surface. Since the still fresh coating has been reworked, the problems of shrinking the second colored coating with respect to the first are eliminated.

The tools for forming the patterns can also be used to, for example, decorate the surface with grooves or grooves highlighting the colored patterns. To do this, after coating the surface (3) and waiting for a certain setting time, the user will use the coating removal tool to form the grooves (51, 50, 52, 53) surrounding for example the reason. This groove will have a section corresponding to that of the knife intended to remove the product. It is also possible to make this groove in an area (40, 41, 42, 43) coated with a different color to obtain that these areas of different color are set back from the first coating layer (3).

In FIG. 3, it can be seen that the groove (51, 50) has a U shape, which suggests that the knife may also have a U shape. On the other hand, on the colored part (40, 41) the edges of the cut are vertical, which shows that a square section knife was used.

The colored coating can be prepared just before depositing it in the surfaces (40, 41, 42, 43) where the coating (3) previously deposited has been removed after a setting time of 30 to 60 minutes and in this case, in addition to the dye, a setting accelerator will be added to the colored coating deposited second.

Another possibility is to prepare the two differently colored plasters at the same time, so that they are at the same setting stage when the second plaster is placed in the recessed parts of the first plaster constituting the patterns to be colored.

The tools used to implement the method consist on the one hand of a knife (1) for removing the coating and on the other hand of a tool guide (2) allowing the knife to be guided during its movement. The knife consists of a horizontal support surface (10). A blade (11) is made integral with this surface (10). This blade (11) has a shape, for example, trapezoidal, or elliptical, or semicircular, or parallelepipedic, or in dovetail, or in the form of U or in the form of V, or, as shown in the Figure 1B, in the shape of a trapezoid extending in place of the small base by a rounded shape, or any other shape that could be considered. The blade (11) has, as shown in Figure 1C, a bevel shape forming an angle (b) on each leading edge of the knife. The inner surfaces (111) of the edge of the blade (11) are inclined relative to the outer surface (113) of the blade to form the bevel. These inclined surfaces (111) extend towards the center of the blade by a flat portion (112). This bevel allows the ejection of the plaster rod cut by the blade. Finally, the leading edges (114) of the blade are included in a plane which forms an angle relief (a) with the plane perpendicular to the bearing surface (10). This draft prevents the filling of the coating. On the bearing surface (10) is welded an angle iron (12). A handle (13) is made integral with this angle (12) by one end and is provided at its other end with a handle (14) to allow the user to move the tool whose blade (11) will cut and remove the coating along the curve of the tool guide (2) on which the tool (1) rests. The tool guide (2) consists for the rectilinear forms of two U-shaped profiles (20, 21) connected at least at their ends by a spacer (22), respectively (23), in the form of an L-shaped angle. These two profiles (20, 21) are spaced at least one width (l) corresponding to the width of the base of the arch (11) formed by the blade of the knife. When the blade (11) of the tool has a trapezoidal shape or such as that shown in FIG. 1B, the U-shaped profiles (20, 21) have faces located opposite which are extended by lips ( 210, 220) splinterguard oriented towards the interior space of the rule and arranged in a plane parallel to the surface on which the bearing surface (10) of the tool (1) rests.

The height (e) of the U-shaped legs of the profiles (20, 21) is less than the height (h) of the arch. If it is desired that the knife (11) remove all of the first layer of plaster of thickness (x) deposited on the surface, the height (h) will be at least equal to the sum of the thickness (x) and the height (e) of the legs of the profiles (20, 21). In the case where it is desired to leave a thin layer of coating on which the second layer of colored coating is deposited, as shown in FIG. 3, the height (h) will be less than the sum of the thickness of the plaster and the height of the legs.

It is obvious that the tool guide (1) has been represented in the form of a rule but that it could be produced in the form of any other object allowing the creation of geometric figures such as square, circle. The circle can be produced either by a circular rule comprising two circular profiles connected to each other by spacers or by a compass at the end of which the handle (13) of the tool is fixed. In this case, the handle (13) would be shaped to have an orientation perpendicular to the surface (10) which is parallel to the surface to be coated.

The coating used may be of the type sold by PRB under the brand "PRB 85" or "TRADICLAIR".

The dyes mixed with the coating are for example all the dyes compatible with the coatings.

  4. A process according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the coloured coating is prepared after removal of the first coating layer at the desired places, and a setting accelerator is added to this coloured coating.
  5. A tool for carrying out the process according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the tool for removing the first coating layer according to the patterns consists of a knife (1) whose blade (11) forms an arch together with a plane surface (10) acting as a surface for resting on a tool guide (2).
  6. A tool according to Claim 5, characterized in that the arch is of trapezoidal shape.
  7. A tool according to Claim 5, characterized in that the arch is of elliptical shape.
  8. A tool according to Claim 5, characterized in that the arch is of semicircular shape or U-shaped.
  9. A tool according to Claim 5, characterized in that the arch is of parallelepipedal shape.
  10. A tool according to one of Claims 5 to 9, characterized in that, in a direction perpendicular to the arch shape, the blade has at least one sloping face (b) for ejection of the coating.
  11. A tool according to one of Claims 5 to 9, characterized in that, along the faces of the arch, the blade has a slight taper (a) for preventing the coating from clogging.
  12. A tool according to one of Claims 5 to 11, characterized in that, for rectilinear patterns, the tool guide (2) consists of a template formed of two U-shaped profiles (20, 21) separated by at least two spacers (22, 23) integral with the ends of the U-shaped profiles (20, 21), the width of said separation corresponding to the width of the arch of the knife (1).
  13. A tool according to Claim 12, characterized in that the height (h) of the arch is less than or equal to the sum of the height (e) of the profile and the thickness (x) of the coating.
  14. A tool according to Claim 12 or 13, characterized in that, in the case of a knife of trapezoidal shape, the tool guide has shielding lips on the opposite faces of the U-shaped profiles.
  15. A tool according to one of Claims 5 to 11, characterized in that the tool guide (2) consists of a circular ring formed by two circular U-shaped profiles joined together by at least two spacers.
