Definitions

  • the present invention generally relates to multiple sockets for a socket outlet, of the type comprising, overall, an elongated housing, which, made of insulating material, is equipped with a group of connection terminals to one and the other. 'other of its ends and contains all of the necessary conductive elements, and, staggered along this housing, at least two separate engagement stations each suitable for plugging in a plug, the conductive elements comprising, on the one hand, at least two bus conductors, which extend without interruption from one of the groups of connection terminals to the other, and, on the other hand, directly above each of the engagement stations, of the members contact accessible from the outside and adapted to cooperate in racking-in with the contact members of a plug.
  • a multiple base has connection terminals at one and the other of its ends, because, without however this being imperative, it is most often intended to be implemented within an enclosure, by example a chute, ensuring by itself the protection of these connection terminals.
  • the present invention relates more particularly to the case where, in order to obtain an additional advantage from the bus conductors, the contact members of the engagement stations are simply engaged by force on them.
  • the engagement stations are constituted by simple bases established from place to place along bus conductors themselves formed from simple insulated conductors, without the assembly being included in any housing.
  • This arrangement has the merit of simplicity.
  • EP-A-462 329 corresponding to British patent application GB-A-2 262 398
  • the housing is in two parts.
  • It in fact comprises a lower part, forming a body, which encloses all of the contact members, with these engaged in practice from below on the bus conductors, and an upper part, forming a cover, which in itself constitutes all of the engagement stations in one piece, these in practice being reduced to the holes required for the intervention of their contact members.
  • This arrangement has the advantage of making it possible to assemble by simple stacking.
  • the present invention generally relates to a multiple socket for an outlet which, on the contrary, easily lends itself to such modulation and also has other advantages.
  • This multiple socket for socket outlet is of the type comprising an elongated housing, which, made of insulating material, is equipped with a group of connection terminals at one and the other of its ends and contains all the elements necessary conductors, and, staggered along this housing, at least two separate engagement stations, each suitable for plugging in a plug, the conductive elements comprising, on the one hand, at least two bus conductors, which extend without interruption from one group of connection terminals to the other, and, on the other hand, directly above each of the engagement stations, contact members, which, accessible from the outside and adapted to cooperate in racking-in with the contact members of a plug, are forcibly engaged on the bus conductors, and it is generally characterized in that, the casing being formed of two parts, one upper, which forms a body and encloses all of the contact members, the other which forms the bottom, the engagement stations each include a cover, which, forming a separate part of the housing is attached to the upper part thereof, presenting the holes necessary for the intervention of their
  • the engagement stations being formed by separate hubcaps, and these advantageously being of standard manufacture suitable for all multiple bases, whatever the number of engagement stations, the change thus to be carried out does not carry advantageously and economically only on a moderate fraction of the whole.
  • the conductive elements on the one hand, whether they are bus conductors or whether they are the contact members of the engagement stations, and the connection terminals, on the other hand, jointly remain advantageously identical , the only variant, depending on the number of engagement stations, the length of the bus conductors, which in practice can be very simply cut to the desired length on request.
  • the upper part, forming a body, of the housing forms by itself in one piece the hubcaps or bases constituting the engagement stations.
  • the base contains a fixing device, the control of which crosses the upper part of the housing, which leads to a particularly complex embodiment for the assembly, it follows from these two provisions that no modulation is possible for the number of engagement positions.
  • the multiple base 10 comprises, overall, an elongated housing 11, which, made of insulating material, is equipped with a group G of connection terminals 12 at both of its ends and contains, according to arrangements described in more detail later, all of the necessary conductive elements, and, staggered side by side along this housing 11, on the upper surface thereof, at least two engagement stations 14 separate, each suitable for plugging in a card not shown.

  • each of the engagement stations 14 comprises two phase contact members 16, which, arranged head to tail, each form, in the median longitudinal plane of the housing 11, a cell 18, for engagement pins of a plug, and a contact member 16 'of earth, which, in this embodiment, protrudes, in a triangle with the cells 18 of the contact members 16 of phase, a pin 19, for cooperation with the corresponding socket of such a sheet.
