Description

The invention relates to an envelope-shaped package for the combination of several objects, with a cross-section that decreases from bottom to top, in particular bottles, these objects being arranged in two parallel rows, the package comprising a top wall that at least the upper regions of the objects partially covers, two side walls and a bottom wall, which are defined by an erected blank of cardboard or the like. and wherein the pack has two openings on each of its two end faces, and it also has a flap that extends from the top wall into each edge area extends the top wall, which is adjacent to an end opening and forms an obliquely downward support between the upper regions of two external objects of the adjacent rows, and has means which hold each tab in position.

Such a package is known from US Pat. No. 3,598,302, but is not suitable for packaging objects which have a cross-section which tapers from bottom to top, as is the case, for example, with bottles.

The invention has for its object to design a package of the type mentioned so that objects with a tapering cross-section can be summarized without the objects being exposed to excessive transverse loads.

This object is achieved in that the tabs forming the supports extend to the outside of the envelope-shaped pack, the means for holding each tab in position in connection with each tab consisting of a band made of the same piece as the rest of the pack is formed and extends transversely to the corresponding opening of the sheath at a certain distance below the plane of the top wall, and that each band is connected at its two ends to the corresponding side walls of the sheath by articulated areas which face each other and against the inside of the corresponding side wall are folded, and occupies its respective position in the folding of the side walls of the envelope around the fold lines which separate said side walls from the top wall.

This creates a package consisting of a single blank, which grants the objects placed very well without exerting these transverse loads.

A further advantageous embodiment of the invention is that each edge region of the top wall has, in addition to an opening, two extensions which cover the upper regions of the articles, and a fold line which, in relation to these extensions, extends in a recessed position between the extensions.

It has also proven to be very advantageous if, according to a further embodiment of the invention, the fold line, which extends between the top wall and the flap, extends essentially at the height of a diameter of circular upper regions of the two outer objects or in a reset position with respect to this diameter.

A further advantageous embodiment of the invention is characterized in that, when the blank is laid flat, the lower edge of each band extends from at least part of the corresponding edge of each side wall.

It is also very advantageous if, according to a further embodiment of the invention, each tab forming a support is connected to the corresponding band by a fold line.

The invention is illustrated in the drawing using an exemplary embodiment. Show:
  • Fig. 1 is a plan view of a cardboard blank, which is intended for producing a package for bottles according to the invention and
  • Fig. 2 is a partial perspective view of the package produced with the blank according to Fig. 1.

Dieser Zuschnitt ist also zur Bildung einer an seinen beiden Stirnseiten offenen Hülle bestimmt, im vorliegenden Fall für zwei Reihen von je drei Flaschen.1, from which a blank 100 can be seen which has the general shape of an elongated rectangle and which consists of an area 101 which forms a top wall, two areas 102, 103 which form side walls and two Regions 104a, 104b, which form a bottom wall 104 after their connection to one another. This cut is therefore intended to form an envelope which is open on its two end faces, in the present case for two rows of three bottles each.

The areas 104a, 104b are provided with mechanical locking elements which are classically designed per se and which are designated in each case in each case V1 and V2, which are intended for closing the casing with itself and which are not described in detail here because they are already known.

The area 101 is separated from the areas 102, 103 by the fold lines P12, P13. The areas 102, 103 are separated from the half-areas 104a, 104b by narrow, oblique intermediate areas 105, 106. The corresponding fold lines are designated P25, P54 and P36, P64.

In the inclined areas 105, 106, three openings 01 are provided, which are intended in a conventional manner for receiving the cylindrical bottoms of three aligned bottles. The shape of these openings and the incisions associated with them, as shown in FIG. 1, correspond in themselves to the classic pattern and are not described in more detail here.

As can be seen, each area that forms a side wall is divided into two sub-areas 102a, 102b and 103a, 103b by intermediate folding lines P20, P30. The side walls can thus adapt to the shape of the bottles, which in the present case consists of a substantially counter-conical neck region, which extends approximately up to half the height of the bottle, and a cylindrical bottom.

According to an essential feature of the present invention, a tab 111, which is to extend obliquely downward - as we will see later - is provided on each edge of the top wall 101 next to an end opening of the casing.

Each flap 111 is hinged to the area 101 by a fold line P101 and has two concave lateral edges. On its side opposite the folding line P101, the flap 111 is articulated by a further folding line P102 running parallel to the line P101 on a part of the blank which forms a band. This band consists of a central part 112 and two side parts 113 which are located on both sides of the central part 112. Fold lines P103 separate the central part 112 from the side parts. At its two ends, this band is connected to the adjacent side walls (areas 102a, 103a) by two articulated, generally triangular areas 114, 115. A slightly oblique fold line P104 separates each side part 113 from the adjoining articulated area 114; a fold line P105 with a more pronounced incline separates the adjacent articulated areas 114 and 115; an even more oblique fold line P106 finally separates each articulated area 115 from the area that forms the respective side wall 102a or 103a.

With reference to FIG. 1, it is also noted that the areas 101, 111, 113, 114, 115 and 102 (or 103) each define an opening 02, the special shape of this opening as shown in FIG. 1 , is to be regarded as part of the present description.

However, it is particularly pointed out that the top wall 101 has an extension 101a in the region of each opening 02 with a free convex edge which projects beyond the fold line P101.

The blank shown in FIG. 1 finally has push-in tabs, which are designed to form grip holes in a classic manner, and elements for holding the upper regions of the middle bottles, these elements essentially in the middle of the regions 102a, 103a are arranged in the immediate vicinity of fold lines P12 and P13.

Reference is now made to Fig. 2, in which a part of the blank and the bottles are shown, which are summarized after the preparation of the said blank.

The areas 102a, 103a that define the upper part of the side walls 102, 103 have been folded along the fold lines P12, P13 by almost 90 °. In the course of this movement, the articulated areas 114, 115 located on each side of each band 112, 113, 113 have been folded onto one another along fold lines P104, P105 and P106 and against the inside of areas 102a, 103a. Thus, each band 112, 113, 113 has assumed a substantially horizontal position at an intermediate height of the corresponding front opening in the casing. When the band is in this position, tab 111 extends slightly downwardly between the neck regions of bottles B and between the top wall and the upper edge of central region 112 of the band. The band thus ensures that the corresponding tab 111 is held in this inclined position, while this tab represents a support between the upper regions of the adjacent bottles in the region of the corresponding opening of the casing and thereby avoids the stresses mentioned in the preamble of the present description .

In order to explain the facts in more detail, it is pointed out that the capsules of the bottles extend outwards below the extension regions 101a of the side wall 101a, so that the corresponding fold line P101 extends in a straight line which is located in relation to the circular contours of the capsules on the inside . Due to its inclination, the tab 111 thus plays the above-mentioned role as a support in that it extends downward between the tops of the bottles. The fold line P101 preferably extends at the height of the diameter of the circular contours of the two capsules or in relation to this diameter in a reset position.

The position of the fold line P101 and the shape of the flap 111 can of course differ from this description.

The other function of the band 112, 113, 113 is to enclose the external bottles in their neck area so that they cannot be easily removed from the casing.

Returning to Fig. 1, it is noted that the outer edge of each part 112, 113 which forms the band is an extension of the corresponding edges of the side wall sections 102, 103, and that the free outer edges of the hinged areas 114, 115 also lie in this extension line. It follows from this that the pack according to the invention has no higher carton consumption than a traditional pack, because the width of the blank remains unchanged overall.

The present invention is of course in no way limited to the exemplary embodiment described and illustrated here, and those skilled in the art will know how to implement possible variants or modifications which correspond to the concept.

Although a band 112, 113 has been described here, which is connected to the edges of the side walls of the casing by articulated areas 114, 115 in order to bring each tab into the corresponding position as a support between two bottle necks standing next to one another, it is particularly self-evident that that other means are conceivable to bring the tabs into position or to hold them.
