The two discs can be continuously displaced relative to each other along their longitudinal axis by a control drive (44) and can be clamped at any required relative longitudinal positions. In order to be able to machine workpieces (14) on both sides with rotational tools, e.g. grinding wheels (28, 30), longitudinally aligned tool-clamping devices (24, 26) are rotatably mounted at at least one point on the circumference of the turret discs (16, 18), the tool-clamping devices being coupled to each other by a drive shaft (46) passing through the turret discs.

Description

Doppelrevolver-Werkzeughalter für eine Drehmaschine Double turret tool holder for a lathe
The invention relates to a double turret tool holder for a lathe with two turret disks which are mounted coaxially one inside the other and are connected in a rotationally fixed manner but are axially steplessly adjustable relative to one another, with a clamping device for fixing them in certain axial relative positions and with a large number of clamping devices arranged on the circumference ¬ directions for turning tools used simultaneously in pairs.
Such a tool holder is e.g. B. be described in DE 35 28 437 C2 and in German patent application P 42 07 677.3. It offers the possibility of simultaneously machining workpieces to be machined with two tools on opposite sides. The processing time is shortened, but it is more important that thin-walled workpieces such as e.g. B. brake discs for motor vehicles, with the required accuracy.
While it is known in simple tool turrets to provide not only non-rotatably clamped turning tools, but also tools which can be driven in rotation, turning machines with double turrets have hitherto only served as tool holders for turning tools, although in many cases it would be useful in a single workpiece clamping in addition to turning work e.g. B. to perform drilling, milling or grinding work. The realization of such multifunctional double turret tool holders has apparently been countered by the difficulty that no space was seen for reasons of space, in addition to the numerous bearings, guides and drives already present, and in particular taking into account the relative mobility of the two revolver to store discs which also cooperate in pairs, together with drives.
The invention is therefore based on the object of creating a double turret tool holder of the type mentioned at the outset, which is more versatile than previously.
The above object is achieved in that axially aligned tool clamping devices are rotatably mounted on at least one point on the circumference of the turret disks and can be coupled by a drive shaft extending between the turret disks.
The invention has the advantage that workpieces such. B. brake disks, in a single clamping not only with a very short machining time and without risk of deformation due to one-sided loading on both sides simultaneously machined, but before or after that can also be drilled, milled or ground on one or both sides . The latter, in particular, is desirable in order to reduce the surface roughness and to eliminate the spiral groove formed during turning, through which a radial force could be exerted on the brake pads in the case of brake disks.
The invention takes into account the restricted space in double revolvers in that only a single drive is available for both rotating tools interacting in pairs. In addition, the drive connection between the tools which can be driven in rotation is not arranged coaxially with the rotary bearing of the turret disks, but extends eccentrically between them. The invention consciously accepts that because of the drive shaft, the working area between the two opposite rotating tools is restricted, especially since their diameter gen of the other parts of the double turret can not be large anyway, but the proposed construction is still sufficient to z. B. brake discs and only makes the space-saving design of a double turret tool holder possible.
In order to keep the mass of the rotatably switchable part of the double turret as small as possible, in particular if it has a plurality of axially opposite, rotationally drivable tool chucks, a preferred embodiment of the invention provides that the drive shaft is axially fixed to a turret disk is axially displaceable but rotatably engages in the tool clamping device of the other turret disk and can be coupled to an upstream drive shaft arranged in the work station. The latter is expediently engaged and disengaged by axial displacement relative to the turret disk carrying the drive shaft of the tool clamping devices.
An embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing, which shows a simplified side view and partial sectional view of a double turret tool holder with a vertical axis of rotation.
The double turret tool holder 10 shown in the exemplary embodiment is part of a vertical lathe, of which for the sake of simplicity only one lathe chuck 12 is shown, by means of which the workpieces to be machined, in the example of a motor vehicle brake disc 14, are clamped and during machining are driven in rotation.
The double turret tool holder 10 has a rear or upper turret disk 16 and a front or lower turret disc 18, over the circumference of which at least two clamping devices are arranged for turning tools 20, 22 which are used in pairs at the same time, and a clamping device 24 or 26 for an upper grinding wheel 28 or a lower grinding wheel 30. With the two pairs of turning tools 20, 22, the brake disks 14 are pre-machined and finished on their main surfaces. These surfaces are then covered by the grinding wheels 28 and 30.
Preferably, the double turret tool holder has other tool clamping devices for turning tools and grinding wheels, z. B. a total of eight rotary switch positions in order to be able to use six pairs of turning tools and two pairs of grinding wheels. Two or more tool clamping devices can be equipped identically with turning or grinding tools in order to extend the time interval between changing the tools.
In the exemplary embodiment, the double turret tool holder 10 has a housing 32 which is fixedly mounted on a cross slide which can be moved in the direction of the X-axis indicated by a double arrow 34 and in the direction of the Z-axis indicated by an arrow 36. The housing 32 essentially contains the bearings, guides, drive parts and locking devices for the two turret disks 16 and 18, reference being made to the older designs mentioned at the beginning for details. A controllable motor 40, which is fixedly mounted on the housing 32, ensures the rotary switching movements according to arrow 38 of the turret disks 16 and 18, which are connected to one another in a rotationally fixed manner. The axial adjustability of the front turret disk 18, indicated by an arrow 42, relative to that axially fixed in the housing 32 The rear turret disk 16 is mounted by means of a controllable cross, also on the housing 32 or the cross bearing it. slide-mounted motor 44. Under the conditions described, the tools 20, 28 of the upper turret disk 16 are brought into use on the workpiece 14 by movements of the cross slide carrying the double turret in the direction of the X and Z axes, while the tools 22 , 30 of the lower turret disk 18 are carried along with the movements of the upper turret disk 16, but are given an additional movement and adjustment in the direction of the arrows 36 and 42 by the motor 44, ie along the Z axis and in this way depending on the thickness of the workpieces 14, any desired axial distance from the tools 20 or 28 of the upper turret disk 16 assigned in pairs can be set.
There is of course the further possibility that it is not the double turret tool holder 10 but the rotary chuck 12 which executes the movements along the X axis.
The turning tools 20, 22 are clamped in a conventional manner or, as described in patent application P 42 07 677.3, in the revolving discs 16 and 18 and released when the tool is changed. The clamping devices 24 and 26 of the grinding disks 28 and 30, which are rotatably mounted in the turret disks 16 and 18, are axially aligned and are connected in a rotationally fixed manner via a central drive shaft 46. The latter is rotatably but axially fixed in the upper turret disk 16 and extends through the grinding disks 28 and 30 and over the space between the turret disks 16 and 18 with a lower end designed as a multi-groove profile into the lower workpiece clamping device 26 designed with a corresponding hollow profile, so that a relative axial displacement is possible between the drive shaft 46 and the lower workpiece clamping device 26 while maintaining the rotationally fixed connection. The grinding wheels 28 and 30 need only be rotatably driven in the rotary switch position of the double turret tool holder 10 in which, as shown in the drawing, they are located on the workpiece chuck 12 side. Therefore, the upper end of the drive shaft 46 can be coupled via a releasable coupling 48 to an upstream drive shaft 54 which can be displaced axially in the direction of arrow 52 by a power cylinder 50. The latter can in turn be driven via a gear 56 by a grinding drive motor 58 mounted on the housing 32 or on the cross slide bearing this. Even if there are several pairs of workpiece clamping devices 24, 26 for tools 28, 30 which can be driven in rotation on the circumference of the turret disks 16, 18, a single motor 58 is sufficient for driving them, which can be connected to the driveshaft 54 via the upstream drive shaft 54 Drive shafts 46 of the various rotating tool pairs can be coupled.
Otherwise, the construction described does not exclude, in individual cases, clamping a tool only in one of two opposite, rotatably mounted and drivable tool clamping devices 24, 26 in order to carry out a specific machining operation on only one side of a workpiece.
In a specific exemplary embodiment, the grinding disks 28, 30 have a diameter of 150 mm in order to bring the braking surfaces of motor vehicle brake disks with an outer diameter of 286 mm to a surface roughness Ra of 0.7 μ by dry grinding and to eliminate the spiral groove remaining after the previous turning operation.
