Definitions
- the invention relates to a choke coil with a spiral winding embedded in insulating material according to the preamble of claim 1 and can be used, for example, in converters for rail vehicles.
- Such a choke coil with a spiral winding embedded in insulating material is known from DE-OS 28 54 520.
- a tube through which a coolant can flow is also wound, which has close contact with the winding, so that the current heat generated in the winding can be dissipated to the coolant.
- circuit elements are required in converter circuits. Their task is to protect the power semiconductors from overvoltages and overcurrents and to limit critical voltage and current steepness.
- These wiring elements can Resistors, capacitors, choke coils or semiconductor components.
- choke coils are arranged in the main current path, in particular to limit the current, and thus the load current flows through them.
- the resulting power loss is dissipated to the ambient air, either taking into account the heat flow density on the surface of the inductor or, depending on the cooling concept used, either directly or using heat-spreading measures (for example, using liquid cooling).
- the invention has for its object to provide a choke coil with a spiral winding embedded in insulating material of the type mentioned, which can be installed in a clamping assembly with at least one liquid heat sink and, for example, one or more power semiconductors.
- the advantages that can be achieved with the invention consist in particular in that, as a result of the installation of the inductor within the clamping assembly, separate coolant guides for the choke coil is unnecessary.
- the heat of electricity produced in the winding of the choke coil is dissipated via one end face or preferably over both end faces to one or two liquid heat sinks of the clamping assembly.
- the electrical busbar connection between the power semiconductor and the choke coil can be implemented in a simple manner within the clamping assembly.
- the division of the metallic electrical conductors of the winding into several parallel individual conductors simulates a high-frequency stranded wire without adversely affecting the quality of the thermal properties of the inductor (heat transfer).
- the choke coil 1 shows a view of the first end face of the inductor.
- the choke coil 1 has a disc-shaped design and a spiral electrical winding made of a metallic, rectangular and edgewise wound flat conductor.
- the winding is divided into an outgoing conductor 3 and a return conductor 4 (see also FIG. 2), with a galvanic connection 5 of both metallic conductors 3, 4 being provided in the center.
- This configuration is implemented in a simple manner by means of a flat conductor which, except in the center, is continuously slotted, as a result of which the outgoing conductor 3, return conductor 4 and connection 5 are formed.
- the ends of the outgoing conductor 3 or return conductor 4 are connected for the external connection to an outgoing conductor connection 6 or return conductor connection 7, both connections 6, 7 penetrating the lateral lateral surface 2 of the choke coil 1.
- An electrically and thermally highly conductive metal in particular copper or aluminum, serves as the material for outgoing conductor 3 and return conductor 4.
- the spiral winding 2 is surrounded by insulation material 8 - preferably cast resin - in such a way that electrical insulation of the winding on the outer surface and between the metallic conductors of the winding is ensured, but that on the other hand one or both end faces 9, 10 (see also FIG 2) the choke coil is or are free of insulation material, so that the spiral contour of the winding is visible.
- FIG. 2 shows a view of the second end face 10 of the choke coil.
- the inductor 1 with return conductor 4, connection 5, outgoing conductor connection 6, return conductor connection 7 and insulation material 8 can be seen.
- FIG. 3 shows a section through a choke coil.
- the winding with outgoing conductor 3, return conductor 4 and connection 5 can be seen in the center.
- the winding 3, 4, 5 borders on the end faces 9, 10.
- FIG. 4 shows a division of the metallic electrical conductors of the winding into a plurality of parallel individual conductors, using the example of the outgoing conductor 3.
- the individual conductors 11 run parallel and are electrically insulated from one another by means of an insulation material 12, for example an electrically insulating lacquer.
- the division of the conductors into a plurality of parallel individual conductors 11 does not hinder the heat transfer from the winding to the liquid heat sink.
- the "skin effect" is counteracted, i.e. achieves a uniform heating of the winding without annoying "hot zones".
- FIG. 5 schematically shows a clamping assembly with liquid heat sinks, at least one power semiconductor and at least one choke coil.
- Three liquid heat sinks 18, 19, 20 can be seen, a choke coil 1 being arranged between the liquid heat sinks 18, 19 and a power semiconductor 17 being arranged between the liquid heat sinks 19, 20.
- Further liquid heat sinks and components (in particular power semiconductors, choke coils) of the clamping assembly 13 can be present.
- the hydraulic coolant connections of the liquid heat sinks are designated with numbers 21.
- the mechanical pressure required for thermal contacting within the tensioning assembly 13 is applied via a pressure plate 14, a spring element 16 and tensioning rods 15.
- the electrical contact is made between an electrical connection 22 of the power semiconductor 17 and the return conductor connection 7 of the choke 1 in a simple manner via a short electrical connecting web 23.
- the winding is cast on all sides with casting resin.
- the casting resin is mechanically removed from the end faces 9, 10 until the metallic conductors appear.
- a choke coil 1 designed in this way requires liquid heat sinks with electrically insulating thermal contact surfaces, for example with ceramic contact surfaces.
- a layer of insulation material 8 also remains on the end surfaces 9, 10, the layer thickness being dimensioned in accordance with the potential difference, the thermal stress and the electrical properties of the insulation material 8.
- overcurrent protection is to protect the affected power semiconductors by means of overcurrent fuses in series.
- overcurrent fuses have the disadvantage that their structural design makes integration with little induction within a device, in particular a converter device, difficult. Therefore, an overcurrent fuse is proposed below, which can be integrated in a simple, space and weight-saving manner within the choke coil itself.
- FIG. 6 shows a side section through a choke coil with electrical overcurrent protection. It an insulating tube 1 'can be seen, which has an outwardly extending circumferential web 2' in the center. Both ends of the insulating tube 1 'are closed by metal caps 3', 4 'made of an electrically highly conductive material, preferably copper.
- a securing means 5 ' preferably a securing strap, connected to both metal caps 3', 4 'runs in the interior of the insulating tube.
- the securing means 5 ' is embedded in an insulating means 6', preferably quartz sand.
- Contact elements 7 ', 8' serve for the electrical contacting of the metal cap 3 ', 4' with internal connections 9 ', 10' of the choke coil.
- the winding of the choke coil consists of flat conductors, the outgoing conductor from a first external electrical connection (see number 15 'according to FIG. 7) to the first central internal connection 9' with number 11 'and the return conductor from the second central internal connection 10' to a second outer connection (see number 16 'according to Figure 7) is designated 12'.
- the flat conductors 11 ', 12' are surrounded on all sides by an insulating means 13 ', preferably cast resin.
- FIG. 7 shows a view of the top of a choke coil with overcurrent protection.
- the choke coil winding is spirally wound from a rectangular, upright flat conductor.
- the electrical overcurrent protection is located in the center of the choke coil 14 ', the metal cap 3' and the contact element 7 'for contacting this metal cap with the first central internal electrical connection 9' being visible.
- FIG. 8 shows a view of the underside of a choke coil with overcurrent protection.
- the advantages that can be achieved with the arrangement according to FIGS. 6 to 8 consist in particular in that the proposed electrical overcurrent protection greatly facilitates low-induction integration within the inductor. No additional space is required for this, and a branch of a converter circuit consisting of at least one power semiconductor and a choke coil is protected by a fuse against overcurrents occurring in the event of a fault, without additional inductances being formed. After the fuse has tripped, the fuse can be replaced.

Abstract
