Dipole probes are integrated, for example, in aircraft to detect the vehicle environment. In earthbound vehicles, they are not yet used because z. B. due to stray fields and wave propagation parameters the previous arrangements do not allow meaningful detection.

The sensor system there consists of a dipole antenna and a mixer. No further intermediate groups are implemented between the antenna and the mixer, which is part of an evaluation circuit. The mixer itself is connected to a mixer oscillator that feeds it. An evaluation unit is implemented at the output of the mixer.
Furthermore, it is generally known that at frequencies higher than 40 GHz TEM waves, which allow simple implementation of impedance transformers and adaptation circuits, are no longer unique. The RF power is supplied via the waveguide, the wave resistance of which is higher by a factor of approx. 6 to 7 than in the case of a coaxial line carrying the TEM wave. Since many circuits in the mm-wave range have very low active resistances - the active resistance at the LO input of a push-pull mixer at a frequency of 100 GHz is z. B. only about 4 ohms - the transformation ratio is very difficult to achieve with a wave resistance of the waveguide of about 600 ohms. With such large transformation ratios, simple probes, such as the capacitive E-field probe, can only be used to a limited extent. The coupling factor determining the ratio of the coupling into the circuit via the probe and the power supplied to the probe by the waveguide is dependent on the immersion depth t. If the immersion depth is t> λ / 8 (λ = wavelength at the operating frequency), the probe reactance quickly becomes inductive and the coupling factor decreases. The probe then stores a lot of reactive power, which drastically limits the bandwidth.
The invention is based on the object of creating a dipole probe which has a large coupling factor. This dipole probe should also be broadband.
The invention is described by the characterizing features of claim 1. The subclaims contain advantageous refinements and developments of the invention.
According to the invention, the object is achieved in that the dipole antenna is implemented on a substrate. The substrate itself is fixed perpendicularly or at least approximately perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the waveguide in a first waveguide. The output of the dipole antenna is designed as a coplanar line.

The
As can be seen from the figure, the
The
The
The
Prinzipiell funktioniert die Dipol-Sonde wie folgt.In principle, the dipole probe works as follows.
Corresponding to the E-field distribution in the waveguide, power is predominantly coupled into the
The waveguide wave propagates in the
Here, the dipole probe seriously avoids the disadvantages, which z. B. result in the above-mentioned capacitive E-field probes, namely the waveguide impedance is changed significantly due to the high reactive power of the probe with strong coupling.
The dipole probe according to the invention avoids these disadvantages in particular in that the probe is designed as a dipole and is additionally effective as a slot line probe due to a ground arrangement. Power is decoupled orthogonally to the direction of propagation of the waveguide wave and orthogonally to the E field vector. The position of the dipole with respect to the E field vector of the waveguide wave is z. B. about 45 degrees. A ground plane is arranged from the waveguide boundary to the vicinity of the dipole and forms a slot line with the dipole. The dipole is slightly curved, with the ends pointing away from the metallization.
- die einfache Impedanztransformation durch entsprechenden Abgriff am Dipol;
- ein großer Koppelfaktor aufgrund der Wirkung als Doppelsonde (Dipol, Schlitzleitung);
- eine große Bandbreite sowie
- Einsparungen eines Polarisationsdrehgliedes bei zahlreichen Anwendungen.
- the simple impedance transformation by appropriate tap on the dipole;
- a large coupling factor due to the effect as a double probe (dipole, slotted line);
- a wide range as well
- Savings of a polarization rotating element in numerous applications.
