Description

The subject of the present invention is a ski, and in particular an alpine ski comprising edges and an upper shell.

A traditional ski comprises a lower surface constituted by a sole bordered by longitudinal edges, on which rest rigid edges, for example ABS or phenolic laminate. These edges, which extend over the entire height of the ski, are generally perpendicular to the sole thereof. Between the edges, the core is arranged, which can be produced in different ways, possibly with reinforcing elements, the core itself being covered by an upper wall, which also rests on the upper wall of the edges.

The advantage of such a ski is that the rigidity of the edges ensures excellent transmission of the forces exerted by the skier on the surface of the snow.

It is more and more common, for aesthetic reasons, and for reasons of industrialization of the manufacture of skis, to produce shaped skis, that is to say skis of non-rectangular section, having a shell. forming the upper face and the lateral faces of the ski, these lateral faces possibly being inclined over at least part of their height. In such a case, the core can be made of synthetic material foam, for example polyurethane, which has excellent properties of stability over time, while being of low weight.

However, this latter type of ski, illustrated in particular by the documents FR 2 611 518, US 3 272 522 and FR 2 522 976, is not always entirely satisfactory because the transmission of the forces on the edges from the upper face the ski is not sufficiently firm, given the absence of edges and the inclination of the side walls. This transmission is made only by sheets of reinforcement of the hull, which are pressed against the inclined sides and which take a specific support on the edges. These skis therefore have behavioral characteristics which cannot fully meet the required criteria, especially in competition, where the desired guidance precision for the skis, imposes as perfect a transmission of forces as possible from the upper face of the ski. towards the edges.

Generally, the hulls constituting modern skis comprise an upper protective element supporting the decoration of the ski, covering a glass fabric frame possibly containing carbon or aramid fibers constituting the upper reinforcement of the ski. This reinforcing fabric could, in the upper part corresponding to the upper face of the ski, be made up only of unidirectional fibers. However, it is imperative that the flaps, constituting the lateral faces of the ski, include fibers oriented in the direction of the weft, necessary to obtain sufficient resistance, in particular in torsion, and providing support on the edges . It is therefore necessary to use fabrics comprising a warp and a weft, even if this structure is oversized for the production of the upper surface of the ski which must mainly provide resistance in simple bending of the ski.

The object of the invention is to provide a ski, in which the transmission of forces from the upper face of the ski to the edges is carried out under the best possible conditions, and which comprises a shell forming its upper face and at least part of its side faces, in order to have good aesthetic qualities.

To this end, the ski it concerns, comprising a filling core, for example made of polyurethane foam, and a lower face equipped with a central sliding sole and delimited by two longitudinal metal edges, as well as reinforcing sheets and decoration, is characterized in that it comprises longitudinal reinforcing elements which, each bearing on an edge and forming the edges of the ski, serve to support and fix the edges of the hull, the height of the reinforcing elements being substantially equal, in at least one zone of the ski, to the height thereof, while in at least one other zone of the ski, the height of the reinforcing elements is less than the height of the ski, and the shell has at least one part inclined from top to bottom and from the inside to the outside.

This ski has longitudinal reinforcing elements forming edges, which bear on the edges and which ensure good transmission from the upper face of the ski to the edges. In addition, the fact that the upper wall of the ski is constituted by a shell gives the latter interesting aesthetic qualities, allows a industrialization of its manufacture, and makes it possible to have, in certain areas of the ski, side walls for part inclined, which makes it possible to adapt the characteristics of the ski to the type of use envisaged.

According to a first embodiment, in the skate zone, the height of at least one reinforcing element is less than the height of the ski, the hull having at least one corresponding inclined part, while in at least one of the zones end, the height of at least one reinforcing element is substantially equal to the height of the ski.

In these end zones, tip and heel, the cross section of the ski corresponds to that of a traditional ski, while in the skate zone, this ski comprises, over part of its height, and at least one on its sides, an inclined part belonging to the hull.

According to another embodiment, in the skate zone, the height of at least one reinforcing element is substantially equal to the height of the ski, while in at least one of the end zones, the height of at least one reinforcing element is less than the height of the ski, the shell having at least one corresponding inclined part.

In its skate area, this ski has a section corresponding to that of a traditional ski, while in its end zones, tip and heel, the ski comprises at least on one of its edges an inclined surface resulting from the presence of the hull. This last type of ski allows a good grip on hard snow, taking into account the good transmission of the forces exerted on the snow surface towards the upper surface of the ski, in the skate area, and a good behavior in powder snow, account given the taper of the end zones, tip and heel.

Advantageously, the upper reinforcement fabric of the shell is made up of unidirectional fibers oriented only in the longitudinal direction of the ski, which constitutes a saving factor, without harming the qualities of the ski.

The two reinforcing elements can be symmetrical with respect to a longitudinal median plane of the ski or asymmetrical with respect to this plane. Thus a ski can be asymmetrical, and the two skis constituting the same pair have symmetry with respect to a longitudinal median plane passing between the two skis, the two reinforcing elements belonging to the two skis, arranged at the edges opposite them, having a height substantially equal to the height of the ski, over at least part of the length thereof, while the reinforcing elements corresponding to the two outer edges have a height which varies, over the length of the ski, relative to the total height of the ski. This makes it possible to favor the attachment of the ski by having an effective reinforcing element over at least part of its length at the level of the internal support edge, while refining the external edge, thanks to the presence of at least one part. inclined hull, to facilitate evolutions in powder snow.

According to an embodiment of this ski, each inclined part of the shell ends, downwards, by a return parallel to the plane of the sole, which bears on the upper face of a reinforcing element forming a song.

  • Figures 1 et 2 sont deux vues respectivement de côté et de dessus d'un premier ski ;
  • Figures 3 et 4 en sont deux vues en coupe transversale respectivement selon les lignes III-III et IV-IV de figure 1;
  • Figures 5 et 6 sont deux vues respectivement de côté et de dessus d'un second ski ;
In any case, the invention will be clearly understood with the aid of the description which follows, with reference to the appended schematic drawing, showing by way of nonlimiting examples, two embodiments of this ski:
  • Figures 1 and 2 are two views respectively from the side and from above of a first ski;
  • Figures 3 and 4 are two cross-sectional views respectively along lines III-III and IV-IV of Figure 1;
  • Figures 5 and 6 are two views respectively from the side and from above of a second ski;
  • Figures 7 and 8 are two cross-sectional views respectively along lines VII-VII and VIII-VIII of Figure 5.

The ski shown in FIGS. 1 to 4 comprises, in a known manner, a skid zone 2, a tip zone 3 and a heel zone 4. This ski comprises a lower face equipped with a sliding sole 5 delimited by two edges metal 6, which are supported by two longitudinal reinforcements 7 forming the edges of the ski. The upper part of the ski is constituted by a shell 8, for example of thermoformed synthetic material against the inner face of which is pressed a reinforcing strip 11, the ski core being constituted by a filling core 9, for example made of foam polyurethane.

In the embodiment represented in FIGS. 1 to 4, each longitudinal reinforcement has, in the skate area, a height substantially less than the height of the ski, and serves as a support for the shell 8 which includes a return 10, which is substantially parallel to the sole 5, bearing on the corresponding reinforcement 7, this return being extended by a part 12 inclined up and down and from the inside to the outside, this inclined part 12 itself being connected to the upper face 13 , which is parallel to the sole 5.

In the end zones 3 and 4, the height of each longitudinal reinforcement 7 is substantially equal to the height of the ski, so that the shell 8 directly bears, by its flat upper face 13, on the upper faces of the reinforcements longitudinal 7.

This structure makes it possible to have a ski which has a rectangular section in its end zones, and which has side walls for part inclined in its skate zone.

In such a structure, the height of the longitudinal reinforcement 7 can be constant over the entire length of the ski.

Figures 5 to 8 show another embodiment of a ski.

In this ski, the height of each reinforcing element 17 forming the edge is substantially equal to the height of the ski in the skid zone thereof, as shown in particular in FIG. 8. On the contrary, in the end zones of the ski, the height of each reinforcing element 17 is substantially less than the height of the ski. Under these conditions, the shell 18 has, in its end zones, two returns 20, substantially parallel to the sole 5, bearing on the upper faces of the two reinforcing elements 17. The two returns 20 are connected to the upper face 23 of the hull by two parts 22 inclined from top to bottom and from the inside to the outside. In the central part of the ski or skate area, the upper face 23 of the shell bears directly on the upper faces of the two reinforcing elements 17.

The two skis, which have just been described above, make it possible to combine the advantages of edge skis in terms of performance, and the advantages of hull skis in terms of industrialization and quality of finish.

It goes without saying that the skis, described above, could be susceptible of variants, the inclined parts of the hull possibly being located only on one of the two edges of the ski, or only in an end zone of that here, the external surfaces of the reinforcing elements that can be inclined relative to the perpendicular to the plane of the sole at a constant or variable angle over the length of the ski, without thereby departing from the scope of the invention .

Ski comprising narrow sides and an upper shell, comprising a filling core, for example made of polyurethane foam, and a lower face equipped with a central sliding sole and delimited by two longitudinal metal edges, as well as reinforcement and decoration sheets, characterized in that it comprises longitudinal reinforcement elements which, each being supported on an edge and forming the narrow sides of the ski, serve for the support and the fixing of the sides of the shell, the height of the reinforcement elements being essentially equal, in at least one zone of the ski, to the height of the latter while, in at least one other zone of the ski, the height of the reinforcement elements is smaller than the height of the ski, and the shell has at least one part which is inclined from the top to the bottom and from the inside towards the outside.
  2. Ski according to Claim 1, characterized in that, in the central zone, the height of at least one reinforcement element is smaller than the height of the ski, the shell having at least one corresponding inclined part while, in at least one of the end zones, the height of at least one reinforcement element is essentially equal to the height of the ski.
  3. Ski according to Claim 1, characterized in that, in the central zone, the height of at least one reinforcement element is essentially equal to the height of the ski while, in at least one of the end zones, the height of at least one reinforcement element is smaller than the height of the ski, the shell having at least one corresponding inclined part.
  4. Ski according to any one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that its two reinforcement elements which form narrow sides are symmetrical in relation to its longitudinal median plane.
  5. Ski according to any one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that its two reinforcement elements which form narrow sides are unsymmetrical in relation to its longitudinal median plane.
  6. Ski according to any one of Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that each inclined part of the shell ends, towards the bottom, in a return which is parallel to the plane of the sole and is supported on the upper face of a reinforcement element which forms a narrow side.
  7. Ski according to any one of Claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the external surfaces of the reinforcement elements are inclined in relation to the perpendicular to the plane of the sole at an angle which is constant or variable over the length of the ski.
  8. Ski according to any one of Claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the upper reinforcement fabric of the shell is constituted by unidirectional fibres oriented in the longitudinal direction of the ski.
