Definitions
- the invention relates to the control of the fuel injection of a multi-cylinder 4-stroke internal combustion engine with features of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1.
- a high-pressure pump of any type is used there as a fuel delivery device, which delivers fuel into a distributor from which all the injection valves connected via injection lines can be supplied with fuel.
- the time and quantity control for the injections and the supply of the fuel to the individual injection valves is carried out via several solenoid valves which are appropriately controlled by a control device. One of them closes or opens a short-circuit line between the distributor and the fuel tank, while the other solenoid valves are installed in the injection lines.
- the drive shaft responsible for controlling the pump pistons always runs at half the engine speed.
- FIGS. 1 and 2 for better comparison, the same or corresponding parts are drawn with the same reference numerals for the sake of a better comparison.
- the cylinder head with 1 As parts of the multi-cylinder 4-stroke internal combustion engine, which is in particular a diesel engine, the cylinder head with 1, the engine housing with 2, the crankcase with 3, the crankshaft with 4, the cylinder with 5, and the pistons acting therein, connected to the crankshaft 4 via piston rods 6 are designated by 7. With 8 injection valves are designated, which inject the fuel directly into the combustion chambers 9 and are each connected to an injection pump 11 via a fuel pressure line 10.
- the injection pump 11 is used in the form of a plug-in pump which is installed in a shaft 12 of the laterally correspondingly enlarged motor housing and whose pump pistons can be actuated by control cams 13 which are provided on a camshaft 14 arranged below the plug-in pump 11 .
- This camshaft can be driven by the crankshaft 4 via its own control drive, which is indicated by the sub-circles 15, 16, in a ratio of 1: 2, ie with every second crankshaft revolution a certain amount of fuel is injected into a combustion chamber 8 at a specific point in time 9 injected.
- the camshaft 14 and the associated control drive 15, 16 of the known internal combustion engine can be omitted because the control cams 17 and the associated base circle (s) 20 are provided directly on the crankshaft 4 of the internal combustion engine .
- these control cams 17 provided on crankshaft 4 must be assigned an injection pump of the type whose delivery is controlled by solenoid valves.
- the solenoid valves 22, 23 and 24, 25, 26 are controlled by an electronic, computer-assisted regulating and control device 19, which has a microprocessor, data and program memory and an input and output periphery, which components are internal by means of a corresponding data bus system are linked together.
- the regulating and control device 19 continuously receives the sensor-detected rotation angle ⁇ of the crankshaft 4 as a control reference signal, on the basis of which the control of the existing solenoid valves is also regulated in the sense of variable control times by means of a program.
- a control cam 17 for controlling an associated pump piston of the injection pump 11 is necessary on the camshaft 4 for the fuel supply to two injection valves 8, but injection into one cylinder 5 is only carried out every second crankshaft revolution.
- one solenoid valve 22 can be switched from delivery to one cylinder, for example cylinder Z1, to delivery to another, for example cylinder Z4.
- a cam 17 on the crankshaft side and a pump piston (as schematically shown in FIG. 3)
- two engine cylinders can therefore be supplied with fuel.
- the solenoid valve 23 is delivering the fuel controls, the solenoid valve 22 alternately branches the delivered fuel to two engine cylinders 5. This means that an injection pump 11 with only two pump pistons, each with two solenoid valves 22 and two solenoid valves 23, is necessary for fuel injection, for example, a 4-cylinder in-line engine.
- Fig. 4 shows such an example for a 4-cylinder in-line engine.
- two cams 17 are arranged on the circumference of the crankshaft 4 offset from one another by 180 °.
- This configuration makes an injection pump 11 with only one pump piston and the three solenoid valves 24, 25, 26 necessary for the fuel supply to four cylinders 5.
- the solenoid valve 26 controls the delivery of the fuel, the solenoid valve 25 distributes the delivery to a pair of cylinders and the solenoid valve 24 distributes the delivery to the four cylinders alternately.
- the control cams 17 and the associated base circle (s) 20 can either be realized by appropriate shaping of crank cheek peripheral surfaces or on a control sleeve or a plurality of control disks which are or are fixedly attached to the crankshaft 4 inside or outside.
- the control sleeve or the control disk (s) can be arranged outside the engine on a shaft section of the crankshaft 4 protruding there at the end, which allows smaller base circle diameters and also a fixed assignment of a normal injection pump equipped with the solenoid valves on the end of the engine.
- control cams 17 and the associated base circle (s) 20 are realized on crankshaft circumferential surfaces or are provided on control disks or a control sleeve attached to the crankshaft 4 within the engine, as shown in FIG. 1 can be seen - an insertion pump 11 for use, which is installed in an insertion shaft 21 opening into the interior of the crankcase 3.

Description
Die Erfindung betrifft die Steuerung der Kraftstoffeinspritzung einer mehrzylindrigen 4-Takt-Brennkraftmaschine mit Merkmalen der im Oberbegriff des Anspruches 1 angegebenen Art.The invention relates to the control of the fuel injection of a multi-cylinder 4-stroke internal combustion engine with features of the type specified in the preamble of
The invention is based on the teaching of EP 0 462 404 A1. A high-pressure pump of any type is used there as a fuel delivery device, which delivers fuel into a distributor from which all the injection valves connected via injection lines can be supplied with fuel. The time and quantity control for the injections and the supply of the fuel to the individual injection valves is carried out via several solenoid valves which are appropriately controlled by a control device. One of them closes or opens a short-circuit line between the distributor and the fuel tank, while the other solenoid valves are installed in the injection lines.
- 1. injection pumps with their own camshaft or cam disc (in-line and distributor pumps),
- 2. Pump nozzles or plug-in pumps, the pump pistons of which are actuated by injection cams additionally arranged on an engine camshaft, and
- 3. Pump nozzles or plug-in pumps, the pump pistons of which are actuated by a separate camshaft in the engine which has only injection cams.
The drive shaft responsible for controlling the pump pistons always runs at half the engine speed.
In contrast, it is an object of the invention to improve a control of the generic type in such a way that less control and regulation effort is required for fuel injection.
This object is achieved by a control with features of the type specified in
Advantageous refinements and developments of this solution are characterized in the subclaims.
- 1. Elimination of a separate injection pump drive.
- 2. Due to the higher speed and the larger cam base circle, significantly higher conveying speeds can be achieved.
- 3. The torsional vibration and noise excitation is significantly less than with known concepts.
- 4. The cam shape can be used over the full piston stroke because of the large radii and thus low Hertzian pressure.
- 5. There is a reduction in manufacturing costs for the internal combustion engine due to the elimination of a separate injection pump drive.

In FIGS. 1 and 2, for better comparison, the same or corresponding parts are drawn with the same reference numerals for the sake of a better comparison.
As parts of the multi-cylinder 4-stroke internal combustion engine, which is in particular a diesel engine, the cylinder head with 1, the engine housing with 2, the crankcase with 3, the crankshaft with 4, the cylinder with 5, and the pistons acting therein, connected to the
In the comparative example according to FIG. 2, the
In comparison, in the solution according to the invention the
According to the invention, in multi-cylinder internal combustion engines in the simplest case (two
The
In the case of FIG. 3, a
Fig. 4 zeigt solches beispielhaft für einen 4-Zylinder-Reihenmotor. In a further development of this solution, three, four or six cylinders can also be supplied with fuel with a pump piston. Fig. 4 shows such an example for a 4-cylinder in-line engine. Here, two
The
