- the center of this reflector network 1 is connected to a central body 2, on which a number of ankles 3 corresponding to the number of profile elements 4 is provided.
- the ankles make it possible to pivot the approximately parabolically pre-shaped profile elements 4 by approximately 90 ° in order to fold the antenna reflector.
- a further reduction in the storage volume is obtained if each profile element 4 is provided with an intermediate joint 5 at a corresponding point, which swivels a part of the profile element by 180 °, that is, its folding.

- the preformed profile elements 4 have the parabolically adapted curvature required for the unfolded antenna reflector 1, so that no guy wires are required to achieve this shape. They can be hollow or solid as round tube or rectangular material, e.g. made of plastic, and are connected to the reflector surface 1 either by pockets that extend over the entire length of each profile element 4, or, as indicated in Fig. 1, by a plurality of loops 9 which are spaced apart are provided on the reflector surface such that they are penetrated by the profile element 4.
- the specified rigidity and curvature of the profile elements 4 ensures that the shape of the antenna reflector is achieved even without the use of guy wires, whereby the uniform application of force over the entire length of each profile element through the pockets, loops or Velcro strips results in better surface fidelity , since there are no more local surface indentations.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an antenna reflector with a plurality of support ribs and a plurality of profile elements, one end of which is pivotally mounted on a central body of the reflector and the other end of which extends to the edge of the reflector.
Such an antenna reflector, which is mainly used in satellite technology, is known from DE-PS 33 38 937. The deployable antenna reflector described therein has a number of rigid support ribs which are mounted on a support body and can be pivoted radially outward and carry a metallic reflector network, between which one or more auxiliary ribs are attached in a radial arrangement, both the auxiliary ribs and the support ribs being provided with tensioning wires , with which it is to be achieved that the reflector network assumes a constant curvature at least in the region of the auxiliary ribs with a view to achieving a parabolic shape of the reflector network. Not only is a considerable number of tensioning wires to be arranged between the auxiliary ribs and the supporting ribs, which exert a rearward pull on the auxiliary ribs, but also the necessary arrangements adjusting the tensioning pressure, such as adjusting pieces and the associated control devices to achieve a necessary adjustment of the individual ribs. Furthermore, the support ribs are to be provided with spacers, the length of which must be adapted to the desired parabolic shape. However, the high number of punctiform supports required results in an increase in the individual elements, such as tensioning wires, fastening pieces, adjusting pieces, etc., which increases the complexity and negatively affects the functional reliability. The adjustment through many support points that influence each other is lengthy and time-consuming.
The object of the present invention is to provide an antenna reflector which avoids these disadvantages and which therefore requires considerably less construction, so that smaller dimensions are required for the same antenna power or larger antenna powers are achieved with the same dimensions as in the conventional antenna reflectors .
Starting from an antenna reflector of the type mentioned at the outset, it is proposed to solve this problem that the profile elements are connected over their entire length to the reflector surface and that the connection to the central body is made via an ankle.
The profile elements can either be provided in a continuous pocket or in a multiplicity of loops which are arranged at a distance from one another on the reflector surface; it is also possible to provide both the profile elements and the inside of the reflector at the contact points for the profile elements with Velcro strips.
Solid bars with a round cross section or hollow bars with a round, oval or rectangular cross section are suitable as profile elements.
It is particularly advantageous if each profile element is provided with at least one intermediate joint and, at the end facing away from the ankle, has a receiving part for the reflector edge, which consists of a hollow body which can be pushed onto the profile element and is adapted to its shape, on which there is a holder for the Recording part of the reflector edge connects.
In an advantageous embodiment, this profile element is provided with a clamping part in order to hold the profile element firmly in the folded state of the reflector.
The antenna reflector according to the invention with the pre-shaped profile elements which are adapted to the parabolic curvature of the reflector and which give the reflector surface a predefined profile is particularly suitable for use in a spacecraft, e.g. a satellite. The profile elements are connected over their entire length or at least for the most part to the reflector surface, whereby the advantage is achieved that the reflector edge is supported by the end of each profile element, since these profile elements transmit radial forces from the reflector edge into the reflector center due to their defined rigidity capital.
By providing an ankle joint at the connection point between the profile element and the central body and an intermediate joint in each profile element, the advantage is achieved that only a very small storage volume is required when the antenna reflector is folded. Due to the specified stiffness and the specified parabolic profile of the individual profile elements, the advantage is still achieved that a significantly reduced structural effort is required, with the uniform application of force over the entire length of each profile element a better surface fidelity can be achieved, since local surface indentations are eliminated . Forces in the radial direction can now be transmitted uniformly, so that the degradation caused by surface indentations and edge effects in the conventional octagonal edge shapes and thus loss of performance can be prevented. This means an increase in the overall reflector efficiency, with the advantage, in particular for large reflectors with a diameter of more than 2 m, being that there are practically no surface indentations at the reflector edge, so that smaller reflector outer dimensions are required for the same effective antenna diameter and a considerable one Mass reduction is achieved.
The surface fidelity, the so-called RMS value, can be significantly improved by this even application of force that a broadening of the possible uses of the antenna reflector towards higher frequency bands is made possible. The surface accuracy is a function of the number of profile elements.
The provision of clamping elements on the profile elements gives the advantage of foldable antenna reflectors that in the folded state the profile elements are fixed on the one hand or at the same time the entire folded reflector surface is retained, which means that an otherwise required protective cover can be omitted.

In the figures, in which the same parts are provided with the same reference numerals, 1 denotes the reflector network of the antenna reflector, of which only a section between two (not shown support ribs) is shown in FIG. 1. At the end of each
The
The specified rigidity and curvature of the
