Abstract
Two-phase, α+β, brasses are rendered lead-free while retaining
properties - notably, hot working properties. Supplementing bismuth, as substituted
for lead with either of the elements phosphorus or indium, assures retention of the
hot working properties associated with the conventional, lead-containing "forging"
and "architectural" brasses.
