Abstract

An umbrella is described which has a handle (1) which is attached at an upper end part (3) of the umbrella stick (2) via a joint (4) such that it can be swivelled between a position, which is at least approximately flush with the direction of the stick axis, and a position which is angled preferably by about 90 DEG relative to the stick axis. The end part preferably has the same diameter as the adjoining gripping region of the handle and serves as an extension of the gripping region. An attachment shell can be attached in the gripping region of the end part, which attachment shell allows comfortable and secure holding of the umbrella. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a screen with a handle arranged differently from the direction of the pole axis.

Conventional umbrellas or parasols normally have a handle which is arranged differently from the direction of the pole axis and which is bent, for example, in a semicircle. Umbrellas are also known, the handle of which is aligned with the direction of the pole axis and the upper end of the handle is, for example, spherical.

Umbrellas with a bent or angled handle have the advantage that they fit better in the hand and are easier to hold. Such umbrellas cause the difficulty that they are relatively bulky in storage and transportation, which can be of particular importance when shipping individual umbrellas or when shipping very large quantities, especially with regard to the shipping costs of umbrellas that are in Mass production are to be made and therefore should not be made more expensive by additional costs of this kind because of their low price.

The aim of the invention is to improve conventional umbrellas in such a way that, on the one hand, they enable the most practical handling possible and, on the other hand, the lowest possible shipping volume. This object is achieved by the subject matter of claim 1. Advantageous developments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.

A particular advantage of such a construction can be seen in the fact that, for example, an umbrella according to the invention can be held more comfortably when the handle is in the pivoted position. To a certain extent, different body sizes of the users can be compensated for. This applies not only to longer umbrellas that can be used like a walking stick, but also when used in a stretched state, with a child holding the upper end part of the umbrella stick, which can have the same diameter as the handle, more comfortably and safely can. This also applies to handling with relatively short stick lengths, so if the umbrella is not so long that it can be used like a walking stick. Another advantage is that many users of everyday objects can take pleasure in making different settings and can amaze their friends with the fact that the handle no longer aligns with the stick axis for some unknown reason. In terms of costs, the low shipping volume is particularly important because the proportion of shipping costs for relatively bulky goods that are mass-produced is an essential factor in calculating the sales price.

The embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 4 shows the upper end of an umbrella or parasol, since the lower end of the umbrella can be designed in any way.

The screen shown in the figures has a handle 1 and a screen stick 2, the upper end part 3 of which is designed such that, on the one hand, the screen stick 2 can be inserted into the lower end of the end part 3, as indicated by an arrow in FIG. 4, while, on the other hand, the upper end of the end part 3 is connected to the lower end of the handle 1 via a joint 4. The joint 4 can be a conventional ball joint or another such joint that the handle can be pivoted from the position shown in Fig. 1 and 2 in the position shown in Fig. 3, in which the handle is at least approximately aligned with the direction of the stick axis. Instead of in the most preferred position shown in FIG. 3, angled by approximately 90 °, the handle 1 could also be in the position shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 in any angular positions, for example between a few degrees and 90 or more degrees, preferably be adjustable between about 50 ° and 90 °.

In the positions shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 or in FIG. 3 and any intermediate positions, the handle can be locked in the set position by a fixing element 5.

The upper end part 3 of the umbrella pole enables an aesthetic design of the upper umbrella end. The end part 3, which is made of plastic, for example, like the handle 1, can be used as a grip area, and a placement shell 10 can be fastened into a recess 12 (FIG. 4) in the end part 3 by snapping it into place. A second mounting shell 11 can also be inserted in a corresponding recess on the end part 3 compared to the first mounting shell 10. The mounting shells are made of transparent plastic, but can also be made of opaque plastic. If required, different attachment bowls can be supplied with the umbrella according to the wishes of the buyer and used by the latter by snapping them into place. Preferably, a transparent tray 10 is used, under which the user can insert a sheet with his name and address. Since the attachment shell can be designed in such a way that it cannot be removed easily or at most only by destruction, the possibility of individual labeling offers obvious advantages for the owner of the screen. On the other hand, the area under the attachment bowls can be used in any way for advertising purposes or for the purpose of simply attaching decorations, club symbols, etc.

The upper end part 3 of the umbrella pole 2 is preferably designed such that it has approximately the same diameter as the adjacent grip area of the handpiece 1 and can therefore serve to extend the grip area. This further improves the manageability of the screen because a pleasant gripping surface is provided not only on the handle 1 itself, but also along the length of the End part 3 of the umbrella pole. By placing a placement shell 10, 11 in the grip area of the end piece 3, a pleasant or improved grip feeling can also be achieved, for example if placement bowls are used which have linear or grid-shaped projections on their surface. Smaller children in particular should then also like to touch the grip area of the end piece 3, which they can reach better than the actual handle 1. Exemplary embodiments for different surface configurations of the attachment shells 10 or 11 are shown in FIGS. 5a, b and c.

The joint can be any conventional joint, such as a ball joint, which is designed such that the handle 1 can be attached to the upper end part 3 of the umbrella pole 2 and the handle 1 swings into a position that is at least approximately aligned with the direction of the pole axis can be. A fixing element 5 in the form of a fixing slide is expediently arranged on the handle 1, by means of which the handle can be locked in the set pivot position. The fixing element 5 arranged in a recess 13 on the handle 1 is prestressed into the locking position by a spring 6.

The mounting shells 10 and 11 are, for example, half-shells with a circular arc length with a central angle of approximately 180 ° or less and enable snapping into a mounting groove 15, which runs on both sides along the depression 12 for inserting the relevant mounting shell 10, which expediently runs along the same has a snap-in projection 16 on each of the two side edges.

The spherical head-shaped handle part which is preferably provided at the upper end of the handle 1 can, like the handle 1, be formed in one piece and solidly, or also consist of a hollow body with a removable cap 14 or 9. When using a removable cap, there is the advantage that even with different colors of the plastic materials of the elements of the handle and the end part with the attachment shell, an improved appearance can be achieved by means of a suitable color contrast. While the arrangement of a placement shell 10 in the grip area of the end part 3 is preferred, with a suitable design of the handle 1, a placement shell 10 can also be arranged in the grip area of the handle 1.

The sectional view in FIG. 6a shows the lower half of the handle 1 and the end part 3, while the sectional view in FIG. 7a shows the corresponding upper half of the handle 1 and the end part 3. Instead of the umbrella pole 2 shown in FIG. 3, a umbrella pole 2a with a larger diameter or a shield pole 2b with a smaller diameter can be provided.

As can be seen from FIG. 6a, the joint 4 has joint elements 8 and a locking pin 7 is provided for the fixing device with the fixing element 5. At the end of the handle 1, a hemispherical cap 9 is attached. Special sectional views can be seen from FIGS. 6b and 7b. In Fig. 7b, an insert 16 is arranged under the mounting shell 10, which can be labeled or printed.
