Die Verwendung von Querschrauben gestattet zwar eine gute seitliche Abstützung der Lagerkräfte, es tritt aber durch die steife Verbindung mit der Schürze des Motorblocks eine erhöhte Schwingungseinleitung in das Motorgehäuse ein, da die Geräuschanregung vornehmlich über den Weg KolbenPleuelstange - Kurbelwelle - Hauptlager - Schürze erfolgt. Insbesondere werden alle Schwingungen der Hauptlagerwände bzw. -bügel durch die steife seitliche Einbindung in die Schürze fast ungedämpft übertragen. Dies betrifft sowohl die Biege-und Torsionsschwingungen als auch die Ovalverformungen der Lagerbohrung selbst unter den Lagerkräften. Eine verstärkte Anregung der Schürze in Motorquerrichtung ist auch deswegen besonders nachteilig, da die an der Schürze befestigte Ölwanne in Art einer Fußpunkterregung mit angeregt wird.
