Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the storage of knives in cases and more particularly relates to cases intended to be worn hanging from the waistband of pants, in order to be able to have said knife as frequently as possible.
  • each of the self-respecting practitioners has a knife of the type with that folding blade in the handle, essential complement to the range of the hunter.
  • the practice of such a discipline at all levels requires development in more or less uneven terrain (difficult passages, crossing ditches, etc.).
  • this type of knife is carried in the pants pocket. From this mode of transport, the risk of injury ensues from improper positioning of the knife in the pocket as well as the problems of loss of the knife.
  • knife holder case There is currently a specific storage device for transporting the knife and more commonly called knife holder case. It is conventionally in the form of a pocket shaped in a leather material, of oblong shape, and worn vertically at the hip. For this purpose, a passer-by is arranged on one of the faces of this pocket so that said knife-holder case can be suspended vertically at the waist, by means of the strap of the belt engaged in said passer-by.
  • the pocket is closed at the bottom and open at the top, to act as a sheath, allowing the knife to be housed inside, inserted through the top opening.
  • a tongue fitted with a snap closure generally folds over the opening of the pouch to hold the imprisoned knife inside there, to prevent it from coming out of its housing during involuntary movements .
  • Such a small knife holder case proves to be annoying or even hurtful when it comes to crossing difficult passages in particularly uneven areas.
  • it is still difficult to disengage the knife from its case because of the small grip surface of the part of the knife, protruding from the pocket and the position of the person, squatting or seated, at the time of extraction of this same knife.
  • DE-U-8910601 proposes in another field of use a case comprising two male and female compartments nestable one inside the other, the first of which is movable relative to the second and serves as a housing for darts and the second is fixed and able to be associated suspended vertically from the belt, so that the male compartment can move relative to the female compartment between a first nested storage position and a second disengaged position called opening, and vice versa.
  • the term "male” is assigned to the compartment which fits and the term “female” is assigned to the compartment which receives the first.
  • the role of the male compartment, in the nested position, is to maintain the darts in the female compartment (in order to prevent the tips from being damaged) and, in the disengaged position with an angular expansion of about 25 degrees, to facilitate the gripping of said darts out of the female compartment.
  • the locking device of the male compartment in the female compartment is ensured by a sliding plate forming a door in front of the opening of the female compartment.
  • the male compartment of such a knife holder case adopts a shape closed at one end and open at the other to serve as a sheath for a knife and the female compartment is retained parallel to said belt so as to be worn in a horizontal position.
  • the male compartment is mounted in an articulated manner at its closed end associated with the female compartment, so that the aforesaid male compartment, the non-articulated end of which is open to make scabbard office with the aforementioned knife, can evolve by tilting from a nested horizontal position called closing to a disengaged vertical position called opening outside the female compartment.
  • the mobility of the male compartment relative to the female compartment therefore ensures the interlocking and / or disengagement movements of the first in the second, so that the interlocking movement defines a device for closing the sheath formed by the male compartment and that the disengagement movement defines a device for opening the same sheath.
  • the free open end of the male compartment which is not articulated on the female compartment has the advantage of allowing the knife to slide out of its sheath, when the said male compartment has tilted into a vertical position outside the female compartment.
  • the male compartment switches from its horizontal position to a vertical position, the knife slides out of its housing due to its own mass. It is then enough to position the hand below the case for recovery of the knife.
  • the whole of the knife holder case of the invention intended for the storage of a knife can be transported on the belt in a horizontal manner so as not to impede the movements of the wearer.
  • it is the horizontal or vertical position of the male compartment which defines the mode, locked or unlocked, of the sheath in which the knife is housed.
  • the face of the female compartment is fitted with passers-by comprising two vertical slots and two horizontal slots so that said knife holder case is suspended in a vertical position when the belt has passed through the first slots and in a horizontal position when 'it went through the second slots.
  • FIG. 1 The figure carried by this drawing is a perspective view of such a knife holder case.
  • the knife holder case referenced I as a whole is intended to be worn horizontally suspended from a belt C, intended to surround the waist of an individual for the maintenance of his pants.
  • this case I consists of a fixed female compartment 10 which is associated with the belt C and a mobile male compartment 20 (two-way arrow A) relative to the fixed compartment 10.
  • the male compartment 20 is shaped to serve as a sheath for a knife (not shown in the drawing) on the one hand, and to come to fit inside the fixed female compartment 10, in which it will be retained by a appropriate locking device 30.
  • the movements A ensuring the interlocking and / or disengagement of the male compartment 20 inside and / or outside the female compartment 10, are obtained thanks to the angular expansion A given to the mobile compartment 20 by relative to the fixed compartment 10.
  • This angular expansion A is ensured by the end 20a of the compartment 20 mounted articulated around its point of attachment to the above fixed female compartment 10.
  • the axis of articulation of the movement A is positioned in the lower part of the male compartment 20 so as to allow, when the latter is fitted into the fixed compartment 10, to retract entirely inside thereof.
  • the other free end 20b of the male compartment 20 is open to allow sliding, symbolized by the two-way arrow G, of the knife inside the male compartment 20.
  • the locking device 30 In order to maintain the male compartment 20 inside the female compartment 10, the locking device 30 consists of a tongue, the end 30a of which is secured to the male compartment 20 and the other end of which 30b is provided with. 'a female pressure clip 31.
  • the tongue 30 can then be folded down, on one face of the latter provided with a corresponding male pressure clip 32, to ensure the locking of the socket.
  • the two ends of the locking tab 30 can be adapted on the two lateral external faces of the female compartment 10.
