Description

The invention relates to a traction assembly according to the preamble of claim 1, adapted to allow recovery operations on bodywork elements deformed by accident.

In existing traction assemblies, the traction clamp is connected to the associated traction chain by means of rings, hooks, loops or other accessories, retained by the clamp. The clamping of the clamp on the sheet is generally done, either by screws, or by a clamping cone trapped in the clamp (see for example the document US-A-3.355.777).

These known clamps have the disadvantage of imposing a non-negligible minimum transverse distance (typically of the order of 0.6 m) between, on the one hand, the point of attachment of the clamp on a sheet flange of the deformed element, and, on the other hand, a point in which the chain can be deflected by a pulley, so as to be able to freely pull on this chain when the abovementioned flange is found to be difficult to access (case of the bottom of a cheek of wing, or rocker ...).

In addition, the connection of the chain to the clamp imposes in practice the formation of a loop at the end of the chain, which induces a twisting of this chain end, detrimental to the mechanical strength of this chain. The absence of a loop in document US-A-3,355,777 runs the risk of inadvertent disengagement of the chain hook from the tightening cone.

The object of the invention is to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks and therefore in particular to allow a significant reduction in the aforementioned minimum transverse distance, while simplifying the coupling between clamp and chain, without introducing any twisting of the latter.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by a traction unit as defined in claim 1.

According to preferred arrangements of the invention, possibly combined:
  • the notches are arranged transversely at the first and second ends, the inclined bottom portions converging towards one another in areas where the second ends are interrupted,
  • the notches are arranged parallel to the first and second ends,
  • the inclined bottom portions are provided in the extension of the bottom portions on either side thereof,
  • a third notch is provided in the extension but at a distance from each first notch to receive part of a link parallel to this end link of the chain,
  • in the plates are made two second facing notches arranged transversely to the first notches, comprising second parallel bottom portions and second inclined bottom portions converging towards each other from these second parallel bottom portions, the portions parallel bottom of the first and second notches being coplanar, these second notches jointly forming a second housing for the end link of the chain,
  • the trays are located between the retaining rods and the second ends.

This element C has a sheet edge R taken between the teeth 3 of two jaws 4 cross-coupled to each other by retaining rods here formed of screws 5 and nuts 6.

Les secondes extrémités 8 sont inclinées par rapport au plan P et convergent vers l'extérieur de la pince 1.Each jaw has the overall shape of a C with a first end 7 provided on its edge with the abovementioned teeth 3 and a second end 8. The jaws have their concavities turned towards one another, and are generally symmetrical with respect to a confrontation plane marked P, transverse to the screws 5 and parallel to the edges provided with teeth 3. The second ends 8 are inclined relative to the plane P and converge towards the outside of the clamp 1.

Inside this clamp 1 is engaged an elongated bar 9 of isosceles trapezoidal shape, whose flanks run along the inclined ends 8 of the jaws.

This bar 9 is integral with a ring 10 through which passes an end section of the chain 2, which ends in a hook 11. This chain 2 is often engaged on a deflection pulley, shown diagrammatically at 12, intended to allow that the tensile force on the chain can be exerted in any direction relative to in plane P, which is particularly advantageous when the rim R on which it is desired to pull is in an area which is not very accessible (for example when it is necessary to pull downwards, on an element situated in the lower part of a box of vehicle).

The presence of the ring 10, and the need to provide a loop for fixing the chain to the ring requires for the chain-pulley-pulley assembly a space requirement parallel to the plane P, admitting a minimum value noted L, being worth approximately 5 times the length l of the clamp, typically of the order of 0.6 m in practice.

In operation, a traction on the chain 2 is reflected in a traction of the bar 9 towards the outside of the clamp 1 which, by wedge effect, tends to spread the inclined ends 8 of the jaws, and therefore, by leverage compared to the retaining rods (screws 5 and nuts 6), a forced approximation of the toothed edges: the clamp is thus tightened all the more on the edge of sheet metal R as the tensile force on the chain is high.

Figure 2 shows a traction assembly according to the invention.

The clamp is designated as a whole by the reference 21; it is shown in more detail in FIGS. 3 to 8.

It can however be noted, from this figure 2, that the chain 2 is directly coupled to this clamp, by its terminal link 2A (there is no longer any need for a hook 11) which is trapped in the clamp 21. It will be appreciated that the transverse minimum size of the traction system, denoted L ′, is appreciably reduced compared to the case in FIG. 1, to only about 3 times the length of the clamp (here denoted l ′ for consistency with the reference l in FIG. 1 , the lengths l and l ′ being able to be equal). It will also be noted that the coupling of the chain to the clamp is done without the slightest twisting of this chain.

As is apparent from Figures 3 to 8, the clamp 21 is formed, like the clamp 1 of Figure 1, of two jaws generally C-shaped, coupled to each other by retaining rods, here formed of screws 23 carrying nuts 24, in a configuration in which the concavities of the two jaws are turned towards one another.

Each jaw in C has a first end, noted 25 in FIGS. 3, and 5 to 7, the edge 25A of which is provided with hooking teeth 25 ′, here inclined at an angle approximately equal to 30 °, and a second end 26. The screws 23 are closer to the first ends than to the second ends.

The jaws 22A and 22B are substantially symmetrical to each other with respect to the plane P of confrontation of the toothed edges of the jaws, at least in this respect, concerns their concave faces. In fact, these concave faces are the same. On the other hand, their outer faces are differentiated by the fact that one, 22A, of the jaws comprises two notches 27 at the bottom of which open holes 28 for the screws 23 and each bordered by two opposite flanks 29 and 29 ′ apart d equal to the width of the hexagon head 30 of the screws 23 thanks to which the latter are locked in rotation.

As is apparent from FIGS. 5 to 7, each jaw (here the jaw 22A) has on its concave face, between the ends 25 and 26, more precisely between the holes 28 for the screws and the second end 26, a thick plate 31, here forming an integral part of the jaw, and in which are formed imprints. In fact the second end 26 is interrupted in the middle in a zone 26A, in which the plate therefore extends over the entire thickness of this second end.

A first notch 32 extends transversely at the ends 25 and 26, from the central zone where the second end is interrupted as far as between the bores 28. As is clear from FIG. 5, this first notch has a bottom, comprising a central portion 32A mistletoe is substantially parallel to the flat surface of the plate 31 and an inclined portion 32B extending, here with an angle of about 30 ° relative to the flat surface of the plate, from this central portion 32A and the central zone where the second end 26 is interrupted.

A second notch 33 is arranged at right angles to the first notch 32, that is to say parallel to the first and second ends 25 and 26. This second notch has a bottom comprising a central portion 33A coplanar with the central portion 32A of the bottom of the first cut 32 and two inclined surfaces 33B and 33C extending, here at an angle of about 30 ° relative to the flat surface of the plate, from this central portion to immediate proximity to the flat surface of said plate .

At least a third notch 34 (there are two here) can be arranged in the extension of the second notch, having a profile in a portion of a circle (see FIG. 7).

The first and second cuts jointly form a kind of cross.

The sides of these notches have a spacing barely greater (to within a clearance) than the thickness e of the links of the chain 2. Furthermore, as is apparent from FIG. 3, when the two jaws are coupled one to the other by the screws 23 and the nuts 24, the flat surfaces of the plates have a spacing barely greater than the thickness of the chain links while the central portions of the notches have a spacing barely greater than the width l o of these links. As for the central zone where the second end 26 is interrupted, it has a width barely greater than the width of these links.

It is clear from FIG. 3 that when a tensile force is exerted on the chain, the result is at the interface between the end link 2A and the inclined portions 32B of the first notches 32, a wedge effect forcing a spacing opposite ends 26 and therefore a bringing together of the first ends 25. During such tightening, the sides of the first notch maintain this last link in position while the surfaces of the plates 31 and the facing edges bordering the central zones 26A where the second ends are interrupted ensure the penultimate link noted 2B is maintained. Any escape of these links 2A and 2B from the clamp is therefore prohibited.

It has been seen in FIG. 2 that the clamp 21 makes it possible to very significantly reduce the minimum clearance L ′ necessary for the positioning of the clamp with the chain and a deflection pulley.

A tensile force on this end section parallel to the ends 25 and 26 here also causes, by wedge effect with the inclined portions 33B or 33C, the clamping of the sections 25A towards one another. The link (noted 2C) of the chain located opposite the link 2A relative to the link 2B does not penetrate, in the example of this figure 10, in the clamp in which case the third fingerprints 34 can be deleted. The third notches 34 serve in fact to accommodate, if necessary, part of such a link 2C in larger clamps parallel to the ends 25 and 26. A single cavity 34 may be sufficient (as may be inclined portions 33B or 33C only) but the presence of the two notches 34 makes it possible to arrange the chain in one direction or the other, in the traction regime of FIG. 10.

The regime of Figure 10 allows to exert longitudinal forces on the rim R of the element to be straightened while the regime of Figure 9 allows to exert bias forces.

A titre d'exemple,

For exemple,
  • the clamp is of dimensions 100 mm x 100 mm x 90 mm for a weight of 4.5 Kg (in the case of a steel clamp),
  • the toothed edges have a length of 100 mm and a width of 14 mm,
  • the chain is of a type suitable for transmitting forces of 10 t (for example a length of 450 mm for 10 links),
  • this clamp makes it possible to carry out transverse forces of 9 t (figure 2 or 9) and 6 t (figure 10).

It goes without saying that the above description has been offered only by way of nonlimiting example and that numerous variants can be proposed by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention, such as claimed.
