Definitions
- the invention relates to a cross cutting device according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a device for cutting and transferring multilayer products that come from a rotary printing press which has a cutting cylinder and a useful cylinder.
- This device In order to divide the paper strand entering the folding unit into individual products, there is a cross cutting device in the folding unit.
- This device consists of a cutting cylinder with an inserted cutter bar and cutting strips, also called groove strips, which are inserted in the groove or groove collecting cylinder.
- the cutting knife By unrolling the cutting cylinder with the working cylinder, the cutting knife sits on the incoming paper strand. Since the cutting knife protrudes from the surface of the cutting cylinder, the cutting edge of the knife dips into the groove of the working cylinder and separates the product from the strand. The depth of immersion of the cutting knife in the groove is determined by the tooth shape of the cutting knife edge.
- the invention has for its object to provide a cross cutting device on folding units for web-fed rotary printing presses using a cutting cylinder and a working cylinder with groove strips for processing thin and thick material to be cut.
- the groove part of the groove strip consists of a plastic with low elasticity
- the cutting knife that penetrates through the material to be cut is subjected to a relatively large resistance.
- the cutting knife teeth are fully immersed in the slot bar without the slot bar being able to escape.
- the groove strip By designing the groove strip with an elastic part, it has become possible, by compressing this elastic part during the cutting process, to absorb the forces which arise from the difference in speed of the cutting edge to the groove strip. As a result, the bending stress of the Cutting knife greatly reduced and jamming of the pressure bars avoided. For this reason, thicker cutting knives can be used, which are rigid and have a longer service life. Thinner products can also be cut.
- the invention has also made it possible to use a material for the groove part of the groove strip which is elastic and abrasion-resistant and nevertheless does not damage the cutting knife as a result of the use of the elastic part.
- FIG. 1 shows a vertical section through a cross cutting device according to the invention, the useful cylinder 1 and the cutting cylinder 2 being shown only in part and both cylinders 1; 2 revolve in the direction of arrow B at approximately the same peripheral speed.
- the pressure strips on the cutting cylinder 2 have not been shown for the sake of clarity. This also applies to FIGS. 2 to 5.
- the cutting cylinder 2 has a cutting knife 6 arranged in the radial direction and with its tip 3 protruding from the circumference 4 of the cutting cylinder 2.
- the cutting knife 6 is clamped in a known knife bar (not shown).
- the cutting knife 6 extends in a coaxial direction to the axis of the cutting cylinder 2, not shown.
- the groove 7 runs in the coaxial direction to the axis of the useful cylinder 1, which is also not shown.
- the groove 7 is made in two parts and consists of a groove part 8 and a pressure spring part 9.
- the groove part 8 and the pressure spring part 9 are loosely next to each other and parallel on the circumference of the useful cylinder 1 arranged, always in such a way that first the groove part 8 and then the compression spring part 9 is attached in the direction of arrow B.
- the point 3 of the cutting knife 6 which moves on the flight circle 11 in the direction of the arrow B touches the product strand 13 at point 12 and leaves the product strand 13 again after the cutting process at point 14.
- the groove part 8 consists of polyurethane with a hardness of 90 to 95 Shore.
- the compression spring part 9 consists here for example of polyurethane with a hardness of 60 to 70 Shore.
- the compression spring part 9 absorbs the forces caused by the difference in speed of the cutting edge to the groove strip by compression during the cutting process. As a result, the bending stress on the cutting knife 6 is greatly reduced and pinching of the pressure bars is avoided.
- the two strips 8; 9 can preferably be inserted loosely into the groove 7. This has the advantage that only the groove part 8, in which the cutting knife 6 is immersed, has to be replaced as a wearing part.
- FIG. 2 a further embodiment variant is shown in a representation analogous to FIG. 1, the cutting cylinder 4 and also the product strand 13 not being shown.
- the groove 7 is made in two parts and consists of the groove part 8 and a compression spring part 16.
- the compression spring part 16 is made of brass, for example, and also includes a compression spring 17 which acts on the elastic part 16 in the tangential direction opposite to the direction of the arrow B.
- the compression spring 17 is adjustably arranged by means of a threaded pin 18 in a threaded bore 19 extending tangentially to the working cylinder 1.
- a plurality of threaded pins 18 with compression springs 17 are provided over the entire length of the groove strip 7. The effect of the groove 7 is the same as described in Fig. 1.
- FIG. 3 is a further embodiment in the Representation shown in FIG. 2.
- the groove strip 7 is again in two parts, but made of one material and consists of the groove part 8 and a compression spring part 21.
- a resilient element 22 is arranged, which is rectangular in cross section and can also extend in a wavy manner in the axial direction.
- the compression spring part 21 can consist of polyamide 12.
- the resilient element 22 can consist of steel, polyamide or the like material.
- the effect of the groove 7 is the same as described in FIG. 1.
- FIG. 4 a further embodiment variant of the groove strip 7 is shown in the representation according to FIG. 2, wherein FIG. 5 shows the view A according to FIG. 4.
- the groove strip 7 is in two parts, but made of one material, ie the groove part 8 and a compression spring part 23 are firmly connected to one another.
- the compression spring part 23 has holes 24 which extend in the axial direction and are spaced apart from one another and which increase the elasticity of the groove strip 7.
- the material can be the same as that used in the groove part 8.
- the effect is the same as described in Fig. 1.
- the cutting knife 6 can have a thickness of 2 to 3 mm. Products up to 96 pages can be cut with the same cross cutter.
- the groove strip 7 is tightly enclosed in a groove running in the radial direction away from the lateral surface at least on three sides, namely on the underside and the two longitudinal sides, and its fourth side, ie the top side, Is flush with the jacket of the useful cylinder 1.
- the "less elastic” groove part 8 and then the "more elastic” compression spring part 9 is arranged.
- the groove part 8 can also be integrally connected to the compression spring part 9, e.g. B. glued or welded, or be positively connected. For example, it is possible to interlock the groove part 8 with the compression spring part 9 on the two adjacent longitudinal sides.
- the groove 7 is made in one piece and has better handling when replacing the same.
- the compression spring part 9 arranged next to the groove part 8 has approximately the same dimensions as the groove part 8.
- the cutting knife 6 always strikes the free upper side of the harder groove part 8, which cannot deflect in the radial direction to the axis of the working cylinder 1, since it presses against the bottom of the groove.
- An elastic dodge is only possible in the direction of the compression spring part 9, which has a lower modulus of elasticity, for. B. a 33 percent lower modulus of elasticity compared to the modulus of elasticity of the groove strip 7.
- the rigid knife 6 only occurs very much little wear and tear, so that long service lives are achieved. Both thin and thick products, or rather sections, can be cut equally.
- the compression spring part 16 can consist of both metal and a hard plastic and the compression springs 17 which are supported on cylinder-fixed parts 18 on the compression spring part 16 have a force of approximately 0.5 kg per centimeter length of the compression spring part 16 exercise.
- This force acts on the compression spring part 16 in about half the depth of the groove along the longitudinal axes of the supporting cylinder-fixed parts 18.
- the line of action of this force is perpendicular to an extension of a second line of action pointing in the radial direction on the axis of rotation of the useful cylinder 1, on the the cutting knife 6 penetrates into the top of the groove 7.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a cross cutting device according to the preamble of
According to DE-OS 14 36 520, a device for cutting and transferring multilayer products that come from a rotary printing press is known, which has a cutting cylinder and a useful cylinder.
In order to divide the paper strand entering the folding unit into individual products, there is a cross cutting device in the folding unit. This device consists of a cutting cylinder with an inserted cutter bar and cutting strips, also called groove strips, which are inserted in the groove or groove collecting cylinder. By unrolling the cutting cylinder with the working cylinder, the cutting knife sits on the incoming paper strand. Since the cutting knife protrudes from the surface of the cutting cylinder, the cutting edge of the knife dips into the groove of the working cylinder and separates the product from the strand. The depth of immersion of the cutting knife in the groove is determined by the tooth shape of the cutting knife edge.
Since the cutting knife is in the cutting process in the Groove bar cannot roll off like a gear, since there is only a small incision, high loads are created for the groove bar and cutting knife at this point. When producing thin products, this problem is solved by using very elastic groove strips and cutter bars with thin cutting knives, since there are only minimal cutting forces. The cutting blades can compensate for the bending stress due to their leaf spring properties, and the very elastic groove strips deform in the cutting groove without destroying it. In addition, with these low cutting forces, the pressure strips, which are located on the right and left of the cutting knife, are made of a highly elastic plastic with good spring properties and are therefore not pinched during the cutting process.
When producing thick products, grooved strips with very low elasticity and very rigid cutting blades as well as inelastic pressure strips are used, which are pressed on using coil springs. With this design of the cutting device, the large forces that arise during the cutting process are absorbed. Due to its rigidity, this design of the cutting device results in faster and greater wear of the groove strip, cutting knife and pressure strips.
With such cutting devices, however, both thin and thick products must be processed. The disadvantage here is that the cutting system must then be changed for each type of product.
The invention has for its object to provide a cross cutting device on folding units for web-fed rotary printing presses using a cutting cylinder and a working cylinder with groove strips for processing thin and thick material to be cut.
The object is achieved by the characterizing part of
The following advantages are achieved by the two-part design of the groove strip. Because the groove part of the groove strip consists of a plastic with low elasticity, the cutting knife that penetrates through the material to be cut is subjected to a relatively large resistance. The cutting knife teeth are fully immersed in the slot bar without the slot bar being able to escape.
By designing the groove strip with an elastic part, it has become possible, by compressing this elastic part during the cutting process, to absorb the forces which arise from the difference in speed of the cutting edge to the groove strip. As a result, the bending stress of the Cutting knife greatly reduced and jamming of the pressure bars avoided. For this reason, thicker cutting knives can be used, which are rigid and have a longer service life. Thinner products can also be cut.
The invention has also made it possible to use a material for the groove part of the groove strip which is elastic and abrasion-resistant and nevertheless does not damage the cutting knife as a result of the use of the elastic part.
The invention will be explained in more detail below using several exemplary embodiments.

Das Schneidmesser 6 erstreckt sich in koaxialer Richtuung zur nicht dargestellten Achse des Schneidzylinders 2.1 shows a vertical section through a cross cutting device according to the invention, the
The
According to FIG. 2, a further embodiment variant is shown in a representation analogous to FIG. 1, the
Material bestehen. Die Wirkung der Nutleiste 7 ist ebenso, wie bei Fig. 1 beschrieben.3 is a further embodiment in the Representation shown in FIG. 2. The
According to FIG. 4, a further embodiment variant of the
In addition to FIG. 1, it is stated that the
In addition to Fig. 2 it is stated that the
This force acts on the
