Definitions
- This invention relates to storage devices, for use in domestic, commercial and industrial establishments. More particularly, the invention concerns basket-, bin-, crate- or tray-like structures which are installed in cupboards, wardrobes, tallboys and like pieces of furniture or equipment and are moveable into and out of the said pieces in a drawer like manner.
- Such devices are destined to hold various articles and goods and are made to permit an easy and convenient display of the said goods or articles and to return them into the said pieces of furniture in the same easy and convenient manner.
- Such devices are well known, they comprise the basket like structure proper to which is fixedly attached, at least at one upper lateral edge, a rail which has castors at least at one end and thus provides the possibility of in- and out- sliding the bin or tray on tracks which extend below the basket or crate.
- the said rail with its appended castors is affixed permanently by screws or, where possible, by welding, a fact which does not permit an easy and quick removal of the storage device from its location, be it for cleaning or display or for any other purposes.
- the said rail is attached to the bin or tray together with the appended castors by means of a clamp which is snap fastened to a free upper edge of the basket like structure.
- the clamp comprises two arms extending at right angle to one another and being of C- or channel profile.
- the clamp consists of plastics and is bendable and elastic to a degree to yield to a force of such magnitude as manually applied by a user of the storage device, such that connection of the clamp by snap action would be possible.
- Fig. 1 shows isometrically the new clamp
- Fig. 2 being a like view of the clamp turned through 180 o relative to Fig. 1 and also turned upside down.
- Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the rail with appended castors being in position on the edge of a storage bin or tray.
- Fig. 4, finally, is a fractional, perspective view of the new arrangement.
- the new clamp designated as a whole by the numeral 1 consists of two arms. Both arms 2 and 3 are of channel or C profile.
- the arm 3 has a somewhat wider end portion 3a at whose underside (i,e. within the channel space) has a small nipple-like protrusion 3b (see Fig. 3).
- the clamp 1 is affixed to the conventional rail R by means of a screw bolt 4.
- the castor appended to rail R at one end thereof is indicated by the letter C.
- FIG. 4 A basket like bin B whose upper, free edge is formed by bars of angle profile has attached to it the rail R by means of clamp 1 which straddles the angularly profiled edge bar of a storage bin.
- the clamp 1 can be put in place on the angular bar by exerting moderate force, pressing it towards the bar forming the edge of the respective bin or tray until the nipple 3b engages the edge of the bar. In the same manner it can be removed from its holding position and permit removal of the tray, bin or crate, as the case may be, from its location.

Abstract
Basket, Bin -, Tray - little devices which serve for storage and/or display of goods and produce have a rail at one edge which rail carries one or more castors. The said devices, with the aid of the castors are slid into and out of cupboards and similar furniture or equipment. It is proposed to affix the said rail to the respective device by means of a clamp.
Description
In the known arrangements the said rail with its appended castors is affixed permanently by screws or, where possible, by welding, a fact which does not permit an easy and quick removal of the storage device from its location, be it for cleaning or display or for any other purposes. However, it is desirable to permit the total removal of the storage bin, tray or crate from its place.
- It is the object of tie invention to provide for this coveted possibility. This object is obtainable by rendering the said rail with the appended castors detachable from the basket like structure.
- According to the invention the said rail is attached to the bin or tray together with the appended castors by means of a clamp which is snap fastened to a free upper edge of the basket like structure.
- In a practical embodiment of the invention the clamp comprises two arms extending at right angle to one another and being of C- or channel profile.
In a preferred practical embodiment of the invention the clamp consists of plastics and is bendable and elastic to a degree to yield to a force of such magnitude as manually applied by a user of the storage device, such that connection of the clamp by snap action would be possible. - The invention will now be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
- In the drawings Fig. 1 shows isometrically the new clamp, Fig. 2 being a like view of the clamp turned through 180o relative to Fig. 1 and also turned upside down. Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the rail with appended castors being in position on the edge of a storage bin or tray. Fig. 4, finally, is a fractional, perspective view of the new arrangement.
- Turning first to Figs. 1 and 2, the new clamp designated as a whole by the numeral 1 consists of two arms. Both
arms arm 3 has a somewhatwider end portion 3a at whose underside (i,e. within the channel space) has a small nipple-like protrusion 3b (see Fig. 3). The clamp 1 is affixed to the conventional rail R by means of ascrew bolt 4. The castor appended to rail R at one end thereof is indicated by the letter C. - The new arrangement will become clear from Fig. 4, A basket like bin B whose upper, free edge is formed by bars of angle profile has attached to it the rail R by means of clamp 1 which straddles the angularly profiled edge bar of a storage bin.
Claims (5)
- Storage and display containers which comprise a basket-, bin-, crate - or tray like structure which is designed to be installed in cupboards, wardrobes, tall boys and like pieces of furniture or equipment and are moveable into or out of the said pieces, to the said structure there being attached at least at one upper lateral edge, a rail which has castors at least at one end and thus provides the possibility of in- and out- sliding the bin or tray on tracks which extend below the basket or crate, characterised thereby that the said rail is attached to the bin basker or tray together with the appended castors by means of a clamp which is snap fastened to a free edge of the basket, bin or crate like structure.
- The storage and display containers claimed in claim 1, characterised thereby that the said clamp comprises two arms extending at right angle to one another and being of C- or channel profile.
- The storage and display containers claimed in claim 2, characterised thereby that the clamp consists of plastics and is bendable and elastic to a degree to yield to a force of such magnitude as manually applied by a user of the storage device, such that connection of the clamp by snap action would be possible.
- The storage arid display containers claimed in claim 3, characterised thereby that one arm of the clamp has a somewhat wider end portion at whose underside (i.e. within the channel space) has a small nipple-like protrusion.
- Storage and display containers of the type referred to whenever fitted with a rail and appended castors substantially as hereinbefore described and shown in the accompanying drawings.
