Claims (18)

  1. A compound needle, in particular for knitting machines, having a needle member including a head, and having a closing member supported to slide longitudinally in relation thereto and cooperating with said head, said closing member having a shank with a tip and at least one control butt and being provided with laterally acting brake spring means, characterised in that the closing member (7) is constructed in two parts, a first part (9) having the tip (8) and coupling means (13) formed on the end region or said shank (10) remote from the tip, and a second part (12) connecting in longitudinal direction to the first part (9) and supporting the control butt (11), the brake spring means (27; 29) and integral receiving means (17, 21) for at least the end region of the shank (10) of the first part (9) provided with the coupling means; and that the two parts (9, 12) are undetachably and rigidly connected to one another in the area of the coupling means.
  2. Compound needle according to Claim 1, characterised in that the receiving means have a longitudinal groove (17) formed in the second part (12) and into which the end region of the shank (10) of the first part (9) is fitted.
  3. Compound needle according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the second part (12) has at least one shank part, in the area of which the control butt (11) is arranged.
  4. Compound needle according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the second part (12) has a back shank (16) connecting to the control butt (11).
  5. Compound needle according to one of Claims 2 to 4, characterised in that the longitudinal groove (17) feeds on one side into a recess (18) in the second part (12), which is open towards the upper or back side of the second part (12).
  6. Compound needle according to one of Claims 2 to 5, characterised in that on the shank (10) of the first part (9), the coupling means have an anchoring butt (13), which is fitted into a correspondingly formed recess (21) in the second part (12) extending from the longitudinal groove (17).

  14. Compound needle according to one of Claims 3 to 13, characterised in that the brake spring means are formed by at least one lateral friction bend (27) on the shank or the back shank (10) of the second part (12).
  15. Compound needle according to Claim 14, characterised in that in the area of the friction bend (27), the shank or back shank (16) of the second part (12) has at least one laterally disposed section (at 28) of smaller width.
  16.
