Description

The invention relates to a method for dewatering slag which has been extinguished in the water bath of a detoxifier and which is pushed out of the water bath by means of an ejection piston via an ejection chute. The invention also relates to an apparatus for performing the method. Such a method and such a device are known from document DE-A-2 539 615.

DE-A 25 39 615). In combustion plants, the burned-out fuel passes through a slag chute into a water purifier that has an arcuate curved discharge chute and a reciprocating discharge piston that transports the slag that has been removed from the water bath to the outside via the rising discharge chute (see e.g. DE-A 25 39 615). By quenching the slag in the water bath, it is inevitably soaked with water, which causes problems in the further treatment or disposal of the slag. One of the problems is that the adhering water is partially released during subsequent transportation. This can lead to undesired water drainage from the means of transport and, since this water can be contaminated, can contribute to pollution of the environment or of the groundwater. Another major problem is that the weight of the slag is correspondingly increased by the adhering water, as a result of which transportation and landfill costs increase considerably.

The object of the invention is to enable a largely dewatering of the slag coming from a furnace in the simplest possible way without additional cost-intensive systems.

Based on the method of the type described at the outset, this object is achieved according to the invention in that the discharge chute of the detoxifier is set in vibration. Particularly good results are achieved if, in a further embodiment of the invention, the water-free area of the extension chute is set in vibration. As a result of the generation of vibrations, which is transferred from the discharge chute to the slag located in the discharge chute, this is drained to a very great extent and, after the treatment according to the invention, only has a water content of about 12%, while slag which leaves the detoxifier without treatment according to the invention, has a water content of about 18 to 22%. As a result, a significant amount of water is separated, which significantly reduces the consumption of fresh water or feed water. The slag obtained after this treatment only feels moist to the earth and no longer has any dripping water adhering to it.

To carry out the method, it is sufficient if, according to the invention, a vibration generator, in particular an unbalance generator, is attached to the extension chute. This leads to a particularly simple device for implementation of the method, because no changes need be made to the existing system, ie to the existing detoxifier, except for the arrangement of a vibration generator, so that existing detoxifiers can be easily retrofitted.

It has been shown that it is advantageous if the vibration generator, in particular imbalance generator, is attached to the bottom of the extension chute.

The best results with regard to dewatering were achieved in that the vibration generator, in particular unbalance generator, is connected to the boundary between the water-filled and the water-free part of the extension chute.

The invention is explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment. In the drawing, the only figure shows a partial longitudinal section through a detoxifier.

The slag coming from a furnace grate, not shown, falls into a slag chute 2 of a deslagger 1. The slag chute 2 opens into an arch trough 3, on the bottom 4 of which a discharge piston 5 can be moved back and forth. With each stroke, the discharge piston 5 moves the slag resting on the floor 4 into the discharge chute 6, from which the slag finally reaches the outside.

The discharge plunger 5 is articulated at its rear end to one or more push cranks 7 which sit rotatably on a shaft 8 which is connected to a drive device, not shown.

The discharge piston 5 has an end face 9 which is substantially perpendicular to the bottom surface 4 of the bottom trough 3 and which serves to push out the slag. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the discharge piston 5 has a piston stage 10 which exerts an additional thrust effect.

The extension chute 6 is limited in its front, upper area by a rounded edge 11 which dips into the water bath located in the arch trough 3 in order to ensure an airtight closure of the slag chute, since there is negative pressure in the combustion chamber. The water level is designated 12.

The slag extinguished in the arch trough 3 in the water bath is pushed by the piston with its end face 9 and the additional step 10 into the extension chute 6, which rises upwards at an angle and arrives there as a compact strand from the water surface. Here the externally adhering water can flow back into the water bath.

In order to achieve a particularly good drainage of the slag emerging from the extension chute 6, a vibration generator in the form of an unbalance generator 13 is provided on the bottom of the extension chute, which carries an unbalance weight 15 on a driven shaft 14, whereby the entire extension chute is set in vibration. These vibrations are transferred to the slag and the water adhering to the slag, causing drainage of the slag in occurs to a high degree. The separated water flows back into the water bath, so that apart from the arrangement of a vibration generator, no changes or additional devices have to be made. The vibration generator 13 is in the preferred embodiment, which is shown in the drawing, at the boundary 16 designated between the water-filled part 17 and the water-free part 18 of the extension chute to the bottom 19 of the extension chute, so that the vibrations on the whole Extension chute and thus also transferred to the slag.
