Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a deflection unit for a cathode ray tube, which has a tube bulb comprising a cylindrical tube neck and a part which widens forwardly in a funnel shape, the shape of the deflection unit corresponding to that of the tube bulb.
In many areas, particularly in the medical field, high demands are placed on the image sharpness of an image on a monitor. For this purpose, it is necessary to provide a deflection unit for the cathode ray tube of the monitor which is adapted to the tube geometry. If the deflection unit lies close to the tube bulb, this results in good image sharpness and high sensitivity, which means effective deflection of the electron beam by the deflection unit. If the tube geometry changes, a new deflection unit must therefore be constructed in order to achieve good image sharpness and sensitivity.
The present invention has for its object to provide a deflection unit of the type mentioned, which can be easily adapted to the tube bulb of a cathode ray tube.
This object is achieved by the measures specified in the characterizing part of claim 1.
Characterized in that a cylindrical plastic body is arranged within the deflection unit, which has webs of soft magnetic material aligned parallel to the cylinder axis, the deflection unit is easily adapted to a tubular bulb. The plastic body magnetically bridges the air gap between the deflection unit and the tube bulb. The deflection field is therefore concentrated on the tube bulb, what improves image sharpness and sensitivity.
The webs can be easily replaced and the deflection unit can be used for tube pistons with different diameters. This is achieved in that the dimension of the webs in the radial direction of the plastic body is adapted to the distance between the deflection unit and the tube bulb. The webs are easy to manufacture and easy to attach to the plastic body.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the image sharpness and the sensitivity are improved in that the webs are cuboid in the area of the cylindrical part of the deflection unit and wedge-shaped in the area of the funnel-like part. The webs then lie flush not only on the tube neck, but also on the funnel-shaped part of the tube piston, so that there is practically no air gap between the deflection unit and the tube piston in the region of the tube neck and the funnel-like part.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is illustrated in more detail with the aid of the drawing.

In FIG. 1, RK denotes the tube bulb of a cathode-ray tube, which consists of a cylindrical tube neck and a part that widens towards the front like a funnel. For simplicity, only the top half of the tube is shown. A deflection unit consists of a ferrite core FK and windings WI, which run in the slots of a coil carrier (not shown here). Such a deflection unit is described in DE-PS 29 40 931 and need not be explained in more detail to become. The deflection unit surrounds the tube piston RK. Between the deflection unit and the tube piston RK are arranged around the tube piston RK parallel to the tube axis aligned webs ST made of soft magnetic material, which sit in a plastic body KK. The webs ST cause the air gap between the deflection unit and the tubular piston RK to be reduced to a small gap LS. A deflection field generated by the deflection unit is thus concentrated on the tube bulb RK, so that the imaging sharpness and the deflection sensitivity of the cathode ray tube are improved.
Die Abbildungsschärfe und Empfindlichkeit werden verbessert, falls die Stege ST in dem Teil des Kunststoffkörpers quaderförmig sind, der den Röhrenhals einer Kathodenstrahlröhre umgibt, und in dem Teil keilförmig ausgebildet sind, der den trichterartig erweiterten Teil des Röhrenkolbens umschließt.FIG. 2 shows the cylindrical plastic body KK to which the webs ST of soft magnetic material which are aligned parallel to the axis of the plastic body and concentrically surround it are attached in the front region. In general, it is sufficient to make the webs ST cuboid in order to achieve good image sharpness and sensitivity. The image sharpness and sensitivity are improved if the webs ST are cuboid in the part of the plastic body which surrounds the tube neck of a cathode ray tube and are wedge-shaped in the part which surrounds the funnel-like part of the tube bulb.
Figure 3 shows a cross section through the cathode ray tube in the region of the tube neck. The section plane A - B for the representation according to FIG. 1 is shown in it. The same parts occurring in Figures 1, 2 and 3 are provided with the same reference numerals. A practical embodiment shows that the best image sharpness is achieved when the plastic body KK is arranged around the tube bulb RK in such a way that the webs ST lie between the windings WI of the deflection unit. The deflection unit can be used for different tube pistons. If the tube neck of a tube bulb has a small diameter, it is necessary to increase the height H of the cuboid-shaped web accordingly. As a result, the air gap LS between the deflection unit and the tube bulb is reduced and the image sharpness or sensitivity is improved. Accordingly, the Height H of the parallelepipedal web can be reduced if the deflection unit is used for a tube with a larger average of the tube neck.
