Abstract

So that the residual liquid quantities accumulating in the access shaft cannot reach into the surrounding earth, a collecting trough with one or more apertures for passing through the tank supply lines is inserted into the access shaft. The collecting trough can be mounted on a sealing ring. It is also possible to provide the collecting trough with feet or to mount it on a pedestal. At least two nozzles are embedded in the sealing ring screwed to the access lid with a seal in between, which nozzles are provided with connection threads for connecting the vent line and the suction line. Between the inserted collecting trough and the wall of the access shaft there is a gap or intermediate space which serves to draw off any ingress of rain water without it being possible to mix with fuel residues. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a dome shaft for tanks stored in the ground or arranged in the ground for holding environmentally hazardous liquids, which surrounds the tank filler neck and is flush with the upper edge of the ground, a dome cover being screwed onto the tank neck for sealing and the dome shaft being covered by a loose dome shaft cover is completed upwards.

In the known designs, the fill pipe, the leveling pipe, the limit indicator, the ventilation pipe and the suction pipe are guided through a dome cover resting on the tank neck. The dome shaft, which is generally square, is closed by a loose cover. In the space between the dome cover and the loose cover, the fill pipe, the leveling pipe and the limit indicator end, so that after removing the cover, the feed hose coming from the tanker can be connected to the fill pipe to fill the tank in the ground. This is not exclude that drops or small amounts of liquid next to the filling pipe on the dome cover and from there into the surrounding soil. The wall of the cathedral shaft rests directly on the tank. Experience has shown that the joint between the dome wall and the tank cannot be kept liquid-tight in the long run.

The invention has for its object to design a dome shaft of the type shown so that accumulating liquid in the dome shaft can not get into the surrounding soil.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by a collecting trough which can be inserted into the dome shaft and has one or more openings for the implementation of the tank supply lines. In one variant, the drip pan is provided with feet or supported on a pedestal. In this version, the sump can be inserted into the manhole at any time without additional work. The drip pan can also be provided with a lower circumferential inner projection which can be screwed onto a sealing ring. The sealing ring can be screwed onto the dome cover with the interposition of an elastic seal. The sealing ring is expediently provided with openings for the passage of the ventilation line and the suction line. It is possible to manufacture the sealing ring from chemical materials using the injection molding process. In a preferred embodiment, there are at least two sockets in the sealing ring embedded, which are each provided with a connection thread for connecting the ventilation line and the suction line. Here, the connecting piece can be flush with the outside of the sealing ring and have an internal thread on both sides or protrude from the sealing ring on both sides, the projecting parts being provided with a connecting thread.

It is in the essence of the invention that the collecting trough has a smaller cross-sectional area than the dome shaft, so that after the insertion of the collecting trough in the dome shaft, a circumferential gap is formed between the outer wall of the collecting trough and the inner wall of the dome shaft.

Further expedient refinements of the invention are listed in the remaining subclaims.

The inventive design ensures that residual amounts of liquid accumulating in the dome shaft cannot seep into the surrounding soil, but can instead be stored in a targeted manner in the drip pan and safely disposed of.

The filler neck 13 of a fuel tank 14 is known to be sealed with a dome cover 6. This dome cover 6 is expediently screwed tight, possibly with the interposition of an elastic seal. The vent line 7, the suction line 8, the filler pipe 17, the leveling pipe 18 and the limit indicator 20 are guided through the dome cover 6, the bushings being sealed. To form the dome shaft 1, a circumferential dome shaft wall 15 is led to the side of the tank neck 13 up to the upper edge of the ground. The dome shaft wall 15 rests directly on the fuel tank 14 and can be of any shape. The cathedral shaft 1 is closed at the top by a cover 16. The space between tank neck 13 and dome wall 15 is filled with sand 19.

According to FIG. 1, a collecting trough 2 which is open at the top and bottom is inserted into the dome shaft 1 and is supported on a sealing ring 4 with a lower circumferential inner projection 3. The sealing ring 4 is screwed onto the dome cover 6 with the interposition of a seal 5. In the sealing ring 4 stub 9 are integrated on both sides protrude from the sealing ring 4, the projecting parts being provided with connecting threads 10. The corresponding lines 7; 8 connected. The nozzle 9 or equivalent openings in the sealing ring 4 for the passage of the lines 7; 8 run approximately horizontally. 2, two further unneeded connecting pieces 9 are provided in the sealing ring 4. This facilitates the assembly or connection of the lines. The sockets that are not required are sealed with blind plugs. The drip pan 2 and the sealing ring 4 are firmly connected to the dome cover 6.

The pipe leadthrough the dome cover 6 and the bottom of the collecting trough 2 are provided with seals 22 known per se. A profiled rubber seal 21 is applied to the end face of the collecting trough 2, so that the space between the manhole cover 16 and the collecting trough 2 is elastically sealed.

As shown in FIGS. 1 and 4, there is a gap 12 or a space between the collecting trough 2 and the dome shaft wall 15 in which fuel residues, possibly located in the collecting trough 2, are present on the outer edge of the cover 16 of the dome shaft 1 penetrating rainwater can flow down into the sand filling 19, from where it seeps into the subsequent soil.
