Abstract
Description
The object of the present invention relates to a machine for implementing road materials generally made up of aggregates coated or not with bituminous hydraulic binders, for example bituminous concretes.
In the state of the prior art, for example illustrated by the American patent US-2,109,020, there are known machines for implementing road materials bituminous or otherwise, working with material receiving hoppers, having only for spreading coating layers for reshaping of pavement, i.e. by varying the thickness of the layer according to the unevenness of the road. This type of hopper is generally equipped with means of rotary distribution to distribute the material, i.e. it cannot in any case fulfill a densification function of this material.
The machine according to the invention is in particular intended to ensure the spreading of road surface layers which, depending on the circumstances, should be applied both in ultra-thin layers of thickness as constant as possible, or in layers of greater thickness, in particular with a view to ensuring reshaping of the roadway.
The object of the present invention therefore finds its application in the field of the maintenance and implementation of various types of pavement layers.
The spread of bituminous concretes in ultra-thin layers, i.e. corresponding to a thickness close to the maximum particle size of the gravel, raises problems that are often difficult or even impossible to resolve satisfactorily.
With current devices, these difficulties can only be overcome by preparing the support carefully to give it a reshaped surface.
Indeed, the spreading of ultra-thin layers of bituminous concrete very damages often the finishers' tables which wear out prematurely by abrasion on contact aggregates emerging from the ultra-thin coating layer.
Finally, the largest chippings are sometimes entrained by the rear edge of the table. paver, which causes streaks of gravel and generates unevenness of surface by combing.
These major drawbacks can be eliminated with the help of the machine. of implementation according to the invention.
The machine according to the invention also has the advantage of being able to very easily and very quickly adapt to the application of other types of coatings, for example the application of layers of greater thickness, in particular in the case of reprofiling of very irregular pavements.
The present invention also aims to design a machine allowing performing spreading of road materials at much higher speeds than those seen with all types of traditional pavers. With the machine object of the present invention, it is possible to achieve application speeds up to 30 meters per minute.
In accordance with the present invention, the material processing machine especially for the spreading of road surface layers coated aggregates, intended to be applied in layers of different thicknesses, especially bituminous concrete in ultra-thin layers, of the type comprising a chassis fitted with rolling means and capable of being coupled to a traction vehicle intended to ensure its advancement on the ground, includes a densification hopper and for distributing said material which has a shape which ensures good flow of said material by the lower orifice arranged, in its position of use, close to the ground, as well as a bar vibrator mounted in the immediate vicinity of the rear transverse edge of said hopper, the material being spread directly in layers on the roadway under the effect of its weight by avoiding any segregation.
In addition, advantageously, the hopper (16) is mounted on articulated arms (22) on a transverse pivot axis (24) arranged in front of said hopper and capable of being supported by idler wheels (26), said arms resting behind the hopper on a support capable of participating in compaction (28) such as a smoothing plate and / or a cylinder.
According to the invention, the articulation on the transverse pivot axis (24) can be left free or blocked. It is left free, so that the vertical differences recorded by the vehicle are not reflected on the plate of the machine by relative to the support on the ground, for the implementation of the ultra-thin layers to almost constant thickness, or it is blocked and the free wheels (26) simultaneously excamoté in order to apply a coating of layer with effect of reprofiling.
In an appropriate embodiment, a material processing machine truck characterized in that the hopper (16) is towed by said vehicle, by by means of two articulated arms (20), each on said vehicle on an axis (21), said lateral arms (22) themselves being articulated on the arms (20) at said level transverse pivot axis (24).
Other advantages of the object of the present invention will become apparent reading the detailed description given below in particular with reference to the figure annexed which represents a schematic side view of the machine according to the invention, coupled to a feed tractor.

This is a special means of traction intended to ensure progress on the ground of the machine according to the invention.
Finally, the feed tractor must have an adequate feed speed range.
In the use of ultra-thin layer spreading, the spreading machine according to
the present invention is towed by the self-propelled
The machine according to the present invention firstly comprises a hopper of
densification and

First, the

In practice, this opening 18 is located a few centimeters from the ground, and this of so as to avoid any segregation of the road material towards the front.
This
The
In the particular embodiment described, the

The road material densification and distribution hopper has a shape which has been determined to ensure good permanent flow of said material.
In practice, such a
In practice, determining the particular shape of the hopper, which can
possibly depend on the particular nature of the widespread road material, results
in fact a compromise between the need to ensure a permanent flow of the
material, and the obligation to maintain a filling height sufficient to
allow the material accumulated in the
d'accrochage. It is clear that the densification function is of particular interest in
applying layers of a certain thickness, but it also has a
decisive advantage in the case of the application of ultra-thin layers since,
in such a situation, due to the weight of the material accumulated in the
In order to ensure the deposition of such a bonding layer, the assembly as shown in the appended figure can also be equipped with a transverse ramp of spraying bituminous binders, marked 32.
Of course, the
Different experiments were carried out to determine what should be the average hopper filling height, in operating mode permanent, to ensure a good densification, distribution and for hanging the aggregate on the binder layer.
It turned out that a minimum filling height of between 0.5 and 1.2 meters, in particular a height of about 0.8 m, gave results entirely satisfactory.
It will also be specified that, in the case of a hopper having a transverse dimension
of 3 meters, the
During these experiments, asphalt concrete spreading tests ultra-thin and traditional carried out under these conditions were found to be entirely satisfactory.
It is however possible to improve the conditions of implementation, to have
use of a thermally insulated
As shown schematically in the accompanying drawing, the particular assembly of the

The articulation of the
latérales de la trémie 16.In practice, it is possible to use a screw with inverted threads
tending to bring the cone of central accumulation of material towards the walls

Still at the top of the
We understand that this gives a height of material under the
It is clear that this phenomenon of accumulation in the
transversaux.In the closed position, the
To restart the machine, the
The second essential element of the patented combination is the bar
vibrating bearing the
Without rear supports on a horizontal plate as is the case for machines existing paver type.
polydirectionnel. Les mouvements vibratoires monodirectionnels seront généralement
verticaux.The vibrating
entre 5 et 50 Hz.The frequency of the vibrations of the
In practice, a vibration frequency of the order of 25 Hz has led to completely satisfactory results.
The amplitude of the vibrations of the
Finally, it is clear that the vibrating
Finally, it should be added that, advantageously, the
From a functional point of view, it will be specified that the vibration of the
couche d'accrochage. Finally, note that the vibrating
A doming adjustment device in the center of this vibrating
This vibrating bar is advantageously made in an extensible manner hydraulically or mechanically at these two free ends, which allows the realization of variable working widths.
automatiquement.Such telescopic extensions of the vibrating
To supply this additional part with coating material, it is possible
to provide on the side faces of the
When the catteries are open, additional material is delivered to temporarily provide larger working widths.
Another way to vary the working width is to make a telescopic hopper.
