Definitions
- the present invention relates to a spoon, particularly suitable for consuming products such as granita ice, slush ice, ice-cream-soda and fruit and juice mixtures e.g. cider cup.
- a straw which may be a plastic or a glass tube with a scoop shaped extension at one end thereof.
- children usually keep sucking through the straw as long as they see liquid products in the container, giving rise to an unpleasant slorping sound.
- the invention provides thereto a spoon comprising a handle and a scoop portion, the handle being provided with a through-going longitudinal bore communicating with a bore through the scoop portion, debouching at the end thereof remote from the handle.
- the scoop portion is in a direct line with the handle. Conveniently the bore through both the handle and the scoop portion is straight.
- Figure 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention.
- Figure 2 is longitudinal sectional view and Figures 3 and 4 are cross-sectional views taken along the lines III-III and IV-IV respectively.
- a spoon 1 comprising a handle 2 and a scoop portion 3.
- the handle 2 is of a usual elongate and straight shape and the scoop portion 3 is broadened and suitably hollow for containing a bit of material to be scooped.
- the scoop portion 3 is in a direct line with the handle 2 and a straight bore 4 is extending through both parts, at the one end 5 debouching at the free end of the handle and at the other end 6 debouching at the extreme end of the scoop portion remote from the handle 2.
- the spoon can suitably be made by moulding food grade synthetic resins as is well known in the art, a very suitable moulding technique being injection moulding.
Abstract
A spoon having a handle (2) and a scoop portion (3) and a bore (4) going through both the handle and scoop portion and debouching at the end of the scoop (3) remote from the handle.
Description
- The present invention relates to a spoon, particularly suitable for consuming products such as granita ice, slush ice, ice-cream-soda and fruit and juice mixtures e.g. cider cup.
- Usually for consumption not only a spoon is provided with these types of products but also one or more straws for sucking the liquids from the container in which these products are offered.
- For reducing the amount of handling and/or waste, if disposables are used, it is known to provide a straw, which may be a plastic or a glass tube with a scoop shaped extension at one end thereof. However, children usually keep sucking through the straw as long as they see liquid products in the container, giving rise to an unpleasant slorping sound.
- It is an object of the invention to provide a novel kind of spoon having a handle with a bore therethrough. Another object of the invention is to provide a spoon which is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture and yet effective in use.
- The invention provides thereto a spoon comprising a handle and a scoop portion, the handle being provided with a through-going longitudinal bore communicating with a bore through the scoop portion, debouching at the end thereof remote from the handle.
- For easy manufacturing and for reliable use preferably the scoop portion is in a direct line with the handle. Conveniently the bore through both the handle and the scoop portion is straight.
- The invention will be further explained in the following description of a preferred embodiment as shown in the accompanying drawings.
- Figure 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention. Figure 2 is longitudinal sectional view and Figures 3 and 4 are cross-sectional views taken along the lines III-III and IV-IV respectively.
- Referring more particularly to the drawing there is shown a
spoon 1 comprising ahandle 2 and ascoop portion 3. Thehandle 2 is of a usual elongate and straight shape and thescoop portion 3 is broadened and suitably hollow for containing a bit of material to be scooped. Thescoop portion 3 is in a direct line with thehandle 2 and astraight bore 4 is extending through both parts, at the oneend 5 debouching at the free end of the handle and at theother end 6 debouching at the extreme end of the scoop portion remote from thehandle 2. - The spoon can suitably be made by moulding food grade synthetic resins as is well known in the art, a very suitable moulding technique being injection moulding.
Claims (3)
- A spoon comprising a handle (2) and a scoop portion (3), the handle being provided with a through-going longitudinal bore (4) communicating with a bore through the scoop portion, debouching at the end thereof remote from the handle.
- A spoon according to claim 1, wherein the scoop portion (3) is in a direct line with the handle (2).
- A spoon according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the bore (4) through both the handle (2) and the scoop portion (3) is straight.
