Description

The invention relates to a stackable seat with a seat connected to a frame with upholstery and arranged below the seat, merging into the frame support plate, which carries the cushion together with its edges.

A piece of seating furniture of the above-mentioned design, which, however, is not stackable, can be found in DE-U-1 977 120. In this seating furniture, a carrier plate with plastic ribs arranged in a honeycomb manner serves as support for an upholstery, the edge of the carrier plate forming a frame from which fastening sleeves for the legs of the seating furniture protrude below the carrier plate. Due to this attachment of the legs, seating designed in this way cannot be stacked. The honeycomb-like ribs facing the cushion require a relatively thick cushion, since otherwise the ribs push through the cushion, which is in any case exposed to a high specific load through the ribs.

When stacking seating furniture with upholstery, the problem arises that a pressure is exerted from the underside of the seat onto the underlying upholstery of the supporting seating furniture which, depending on the design of the underside of the seat in question, can lead to pressure points in the upholstery. The higher such a stack is, the stronger this is particularly in the case of the upholstery of the bottom seating furniture. To remedy this problem, stackable seating furniture with upholstery has already been provided with a stacking plate arranged below the seat, which lies flat on the respective underlying upholstery during stacking and thus protects it from damage caused by pressure points (as previously known from CH-A-342 710 The arrangement of such a stacking plate represents an additional effort, apart from problems with their attachment. The attachment points of the stacking plate have to withstand the full load of a stack and should not be visually disturbing.

The invention has for its object to simplify the seat constructively and to facilitate its assembly. According to the invention, this is done in that the carrier plate is designed as a plastic trough, the bottom of which forms a stacking plate and which is filled with a rigid foam as a carrier for the cushion.

The use of the plastic tub on the one hand as a support for the upholstery and on the other hand as a stacking plate formed by its bottom combines the two essential functions of the seat, namely to serve as an upholstered seat and at the same time to form the stacking plate in a structurally simple manner, since the plastic tub can easily be used in accordance with the allows them to be shaped or formed by them. The outside of its bottom then lies on the upholstery of a load-bearing piece of furniture during stacking, whereby the design of the bottom of the plastic tub can ensure that the pressure is evenly distributed over the upholstery underneath and possibly decreases in the direction of the edges when stacked . For this purpose, the bottom of the plastic tub can be flat, slightly concave or slightly convex, depending on how this is required by the surface of the respective cushion.

The cushion is supported against a rigid foam filling the plastic tub, which thus serves as a carrier for the cushion. The cushion thus lies on a uniform surface of the carrier, so that the cushion is not exposed to the risk of impressions being formed on it.

To design the upholstered seat of a piece of seating furniture as a plastic tub, which is filled with upholstery material consisting of plastic foam, belongs to the state of the art, as the utility models DE-U-8 428 834 and DE-U-8 609 672 show. It is also known from US-A-3 341 251 to design automobile seats as a plastic trough which extends over the seat and the backrest and which supports an upholstery made of plastic foam. With the basic idea of the invention, the plastic tub with a rigid foam as a carrier to fill for the cushion, the prior art mentioned above has nothing to do.

It is useful to fill the plastic tub with the rigid foam in such a way that the surface of the rigid foam is essentially flush with the upper edge of the plastic tub. In this case, the surface of the cushion facing the rigid foam can be made essentially flat throughout.

If the frame of the seating furniture is not to be visible, the plastic tub should be designed so that its edges encompass the frame. In this case, only the edges of the plastic tub are visible, which can be made visually pleasing due to the appropriate choice of the plastic material or the shape. In addition, this embracing the frame also results in an increase in the stability of the seating, in particular at its corners.

It is also possible to design the cushion so that it encompasses the frame. In this case, essentially only the upholstery remains visible laterally in the area of the seat, which can be important for certain aesthetic effects.

Die Wanne 10 erhält damit durch den sie umgebenden Rahmen 6-9 eine stabile Lage, die zusätzlich durch Verschrauben oder Verkleben gegenüber den einzelnen Zargen 6-9 gesichert ist.1 is a stackable chair made of square steel tube with legs 1, 2, 3 and 4, of which legs 1 and 4 serve to hold the backrest 5. On the legs 1 to 4, the frame, also made of square steel tube, is connected to the two longitudinal frames 6 and 7 and the two transverse frames 8 and 9, in a known manner of no interest here, e.g. B. by welding. The plastic tub 10 is suspended in the frame 6-9 and, as can be seen in particular from FIG. 2, its edge is placed over the frame 6-9. The tub 10 is thus given a stable position by the frame 6-9 surrounding it, which is additionally secured by screwing or gluing to the individual frames 6-9.

Das Polster 13 stützt sich dabei gegen den Füllstoff 12 ab.The tub 10 is filled with the filler 12, the z. B. can consist of a hard foam. Foam is an advantage because it is a light and cheap material. On the filler 12, a padding material 13 is applied, the z. B. can consist of an elastic foam. The cushion 13 is supported against the filler 12.

The bottom of the tub 10 forms the stacking plate of the chair. When the illustrated chair is stacked, a bottom of the tub 10 rests on a cushion 13, the pressure on the cushion 13 being evenly distributed due to the essentially flat design of the bottom of the tub 10 and the surface of the cushion 13.

It is also possible to omit the frame 9 connecting the two legs 2 and 3 or to set it lower than that shown in FIG. 1, so that the frame is formed by the edge 11 in the area between the legs 2 and 3. The stability of the chair is maintained since the tub 10 ensures the mutual position of the legs 1 to 4.

Die Figur 2 zeigt einen durch den Kreis in Figur 1 angedeuteten Ausschnitt aus Figur 1, in der betreffende Teil des Stuhles vergrößert dargestellt ist.FIG. 2 shows a section from FIG. 1 indicated by the circle in FIG. 1, in which the relevant part of the chair is shown enlarged.

In the case of hanging the plastic tub in an existing frame, it is sufficient if the tub has only two opposite edges with which it is then hung in the relevant parts of the frame. In the case of the chair shown in FIG. 1, it is therefore sufficient to provide only edges of the tub 10 in the area of the frames 6 and 7. For reasons of stability, however, it may be expedient to design the plastic tub with an edge over its entire circumference.

The tub 10 lies with the extension 14 forming part of the edge 11 on the frame 6 and is rigidly connected to it by means of a fastening. This can be a mandrel, a screw, a rivet or the like.

The frame 6 is shown, which is covered by the extension 19 of the edge 11 of the tub 10. The tub 10 is filled with the filler 12, indicated in the left side of the figure by the circles drawn. On the filler 12, the cushion 13 rests, which here is completely pulled around the extension 19 and the frame 6, so that only the cushion can be seen from the seat of the chair. The pad 13 forms at its edges the tab 20, essentially formed by a textile material as a pad cover, which is inserted into a groove 21 formed by the edge 11 and is held here by means of a thickening 22 or fastened in another known manner.

Another chair construction is shown in FIG. 4, namely a chair provided with a round seat with legs 23, 24, 25 and 26, of which legs 25 and 26 hold backrest 27. The legs 23 to 26 are connected here via the cross-forming, approximately diametrically extending frames 28, 29, 30 and 31, the frames 28 and 31 as well as 29 and 30 each being formed from a continuous steel tube. As can be seen, the frames 28/30 are brought together in the middle and welded together here.

In the frames 28/31 the trough 32 is suspended, with its edge 33 running outside between the frames 28 to 31, part of the frame of the seat forms, the other part of the frame consists of the frames 28 to 31. The filler 12, which is covered by the cushion 13, is inserted into the tub 32.

It shows the merging of the frames 28/31 and 29/30 over which the tub 32 is placed. With its edges 33, the tub 32 forms part of the frame of the seat. The filling material 12 is inserted into the tub and is covered by the cushion 13. The cushion 13 is drawn here similar to the illustration according to FIG. 4 over the edge 33 of the tub 32 and held in a groove 34 formed by the edge 33.

In order to ensure when stacking that the frames 28/31 and 29/30 cannot press against the cushion 13, the bottom of the trough 32 is pulled down relative to the frames 28/31 and 29/30 in such a way that the frames are of a diameter in relation to that Bottom of the tub 32 are towered over.

An den Beinen 40 und 41 ist die Rückenlehne 42 befestigt.FIG. 6 shows a further design of a stackable chair, in which the frame of the seat is formed overall by the edge 35 of the tub 36. In FIG. 6, the tub 36 is not filled in and is shown without cushions to make the construction easier to see. At the four corners of the tub 36 are formed on these sleeves 37, which serve to receive the legs 38, 39, 40 and 41 in a known manner. The backrest 42 is attached to the legs 40 and 41.

In FIG. 7, a section in the region of the edge 35 is shown in an enlarged representation compared to FIG. 6. This representation relates to the edge 35 in all its areas between the legs 38 to 41. As can be seen, the tub 36 is filled with the filler 12 on which the cushion 13 is placed. The cushion 13 is pulled over the tab 20 over the edge 35 and fixed in the groove 43.

It should also be pointed out that the material of the frame of the respective underlying chair can also be plastic, metal tube or wood.

With the height of the edge of the plastic tub, the respective stack height can be determined, which is then given by this height and the height of the cushion. The height of the stack is important if, due to the construction of the chair, the stacking direction deviates from the vertical, in which case, after stacking a large number of chairs, it is possible that the rear legs bump against the front legs.
