Description

The present invention relates to a control for a circuit breaker, in particular for a medium or high voltage circuit breaker and making it possible to perform standardized opening and closing cycles.

Is known, in particular from document EP-A1-0221430, a control for a circuit breaker making it possible to carry out a rapid opening, closing and reopening cycle (OFO cycle) and comprising two springs arranged so that the relaxation of one allows operation of the circuit breaker and simultaneously resetting of the other spring. Orders of this type include a large number of mechanical parts whose assembly and maintenance are costly.

The prior art is also illustrated by document DE-C-966573 which describes a compressed air control comprising only one spring and comprising an electromagnet controlling a pilot for the operation of the power piston, and by the document EP-A-0372449 which describes a high power control comprising two springs actuated by a motor, the assembly being controlled by a low power control.

An object of the present invention is to provide a circuit breaker control, of the electromechanical type, comprising a small number of mechanical parts and, consequently, of low cost price and inexpensive maintenance.

The object is achieved by a circuit breaker according to claim.

The invention will be clearly understood on reading the description of an exemplary embodiment of the invention, with reference to the appended drawing in which:
  • FIG. 1 is a partial view in elevation of a three-pole circuit breaker provided with a control according to the invention,
  • Figure 2 is a schematic perspective view of the above command.

In FIG. 1, the references 10, 20 and 30 respectively designate ceramic insulating columns supporting the breaking chambers of a three-pole circuit breaker. These chambers are operated by rods, respectively referenced 11, 21 and 31, connected by connecting rods 12, 22, 32 to a common operating shaft 40. This shaft 40 is set in motion by the control of the invention, visible more in detail in Figure 2.

The control of the invention comprises a DC motor 50, the shaft 51 of which is coaxial with the aforementioned shaft 40 and integral with the latter. On the shaft 51 is wedged an arm 52 at one end of which is fixed a first end of a spring 53 the other end of which is attached to a fixed point 54.

Cet accumulateur alimente également, à travers le circuit électronique 57, le moteur à courant continu 50.The arm can take a first position, in which the spring 53 is banded, and corresponding to an engaged position of the circuit breaker. The arm is held in this first position by a retractable stop 55, for example by means of an electromagnet 56 controlled by a programmed electronic circuit 57. The electronic circuit is supplied by an electric accumulator 58. This accumulator also supplies, at through the electronic circuit 57, the DC motor 50.

When the circuit breaker must be tripped, an order from a relay (not shown) is sent to the electronic circuit 57 which then supplies the electromagnet 56 and thus causes the abutment 55 to be erased. Under the action of the spring which is suddenly relaxes, the arm pivots along arrow F1 in solid lines, which causes the shafts 51 and 40 to rotate and the poles of the circuit breaker to open. The stroke of the arm is stopped by a fixed stop 59 acting as a shock absorber.

When it is desired to close the circuit breaker, the electronic circuit supplies the motor 50 which rotates the shaft 51 and the arm 53 in the direction of the arrow F2 in broken lines. This operation causes the spring 53 to be reset and the circuit breaker to close again. A direct current motor, for example with series excitation, has a high starting torque so that it is possible to reset the spring and close the circuit breaker in a time compatible with that fixed by the standardized OFO cycles. The electronic circuit is programmed to supply the electric motor for the time just necessary to close the circuit breaker and reset the spring and to dampen movement at the end of the stroke. If a second opening is requested, it will proceed as the first.

The implementation of the invention requires the use of a 24 or 48 volt accumulator battery, of a capacity that a person skilled in the art will be able to calculate according to the type of circuit breaker to be controlled and the nature of the cycles to be performed.

The order of the invention comprises a reduced number of mechanical parts and consequently, a moderate cost price and a low maintenance cost.
