- Roller for a roller hearth furnace, particularly for heat treating slabs, whereby the roller has spaced support rings and thermal insulation is arranged between the support rings, characterised in that a needled first fibre mat (12) is placed on the periphery of the roller (1) between the support rings (2), that a fibre spraying composition (14), which includes a bonding agent, is sprayed onto the first fibre mat (12), that the fibre spraying composition (14) is connected to the first fibre mat (12) by means of the bonding agent and that disposed laterally between the support rings (2) and the fibre spraying composition (14) there is a precompressed second fibre mat (13).
- Roller as claimed in Claim 1, characterised in that placed around the roller (1) are metallic tension straps (6) to which fastening anchors (9) for the fibre spraying composition (14) are secured.
- Roller as claimed in Claim 2, characterised in that the fastening anchors (9) are constituted by fastening pegs (10) secured to the tension strap (6) and large area retaining members (11) attachable to them.
- Roller as claimed in Claim 2 or 3, characterised in that the tension band strap (6) is tightened onto the roller (1) by means of a screw-nut connection (8).
- Roller as claimed in one of the preceding Claims 3 or 4, characterised in that the first fibre mat (12) is pushed over the fastening pegs (10).
- Roller as claimed in one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the wall thickness of the first fibre mat (12) is smaller than that of the fibre spraying composition (14).
- Roller as claimed in one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the second fibre mat (13) is compressed by a factor of about 5 and is disposed between the support ring (2) and the fibre spraying composition (14).
- Roller as claimed in one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the fibre spraying composition (14) comprises ceramic fibres with a colloidal SiO₂ as a bonding agent.
- Roller as claimed in one of the preceding Claims 1 to 7, characterised in that the fibre spraying composition (14) comprises ceramic fibres with a hydraulic bonding agent.
- Roller as claimed in one of the preceding claims, characterised in that defined within the support ring (2) there is an annular space into which a ceramic fibre fleece (15) with a latex bonder is inserted.
- Roller as claimed in one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the fibre spraying composition (14) is provided on its surface with a ceramic coating.
