Abstract

To improve the pressing process in an upsetting press for reducing the width of rolling stock, in particular for reducing slab width in hot-strip roughing trains with tool carriers accommodating pressing tools and arranged on both sides of the edge of the slab, it is proposed that, in the region between the pressing tools, the upsetting press should have at least one vertically adjustable holding roller 2 arranged above and below the slab 1 and that driving rollers 5 should be arranged in the inlet and outlet region 3, 4 of the upsetting press, above and below the slab, and that the holding rollers 2 and the driving rollers 5 should be provided with internal cooling. <IMAGE>
