Derartige Stühle sind verhältnismäßig unbequem. Dies macht sich insbesondere dann nachteilig bemerkbar, wenn Gesprächs-Diskussionsrunden und andere Dinge gemacht werden, bei denen die tischartigen Arbeitsmöbel überhaupt nicht benötigt werden. Dann wäre es grundsätzlich möglich, besondere, ein- oder mehrsitzige, gepolstere Sitzmöbel zu verwenden, die das eigentliche Sitzen und die damit verbundene Tätigkeit angenehmer machen. Die Verwendung derartiger Sitzmöbel hat jedoch den Nachteil, daß dieselben eine solche Sitzhöhe aufweisen, die für eine Verwendung in Verbindung mit den tischartigen Arbeitsmöbeln ungeeignet ist. Dies bedeutet, daß für Gesprächs-Diskussionsrunden die tischartigen Arbeitsmöbel und die dazugehörigen Stühle entfernt und durch polsterartige Sitzmöbel ersetzt werden müssen. Dies ist umständlich und zeitraubend. Darüber hinaus besteht hier das Problem, daß die momentan nicht benutzten Möbel in einem gesonderten Raum untergebracht werden müßten, was zwangsläufig mit zusätzlichen Raumbedarf verbunden ist.In schools in particular, table-like work furniture is used which consists of a frame-like, usually metallic frame which is provided on its top with a horizontal or approximately horizontal worktop.
