Abstract

The invention relates to an apparatus for guiding webs of material, especially webs (5) of material coming from a strip casting machine, and, if required, rolling up the webs (5) of material. Brush rollers (20,21,23-26) are used for guiding and rolling up and comprise axially spaced annular disc-shaped brush elements between which are arranged guide elements (27) extending in the running direction of the strip, which prevent the low-stiffness web (5) of material from winding around a brush roller (20,21,23-26). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a device for guiding and in particular winding material webs, in particular material webs coming from a strip casting machine, consisting of at least one brush roll and a further roll pressing the material web against the brush roll.

(DE 37 08 891 C1; EP 0 021 049 B1;EP 0 316 949 A2).Devices of this type are known. They serve the purpose of collecting the material web coming from the casting wheel and feeding it to a winding device. So that this task can be performed without problems, the brush roller generally runs at a higher rotational speed than the casting wheel of the strip casting machine that feeds the material web. The purpose of the differential speed is to pull the web of material taut. The slip compensation takes place on the brush roller without the Material web is damaged. A difficulty with such devices is that the beginning of the web of material wraps around the brush roll when the web of material is made of very thin material. Another disadvantage is that with the device the material web can be connected to the device for winding not with its beginning but with a section further behind. The cut part in front of it is regularly lost. For small quantities to be poured, this loss is large on a percentage basis.

The invention has for its object to provide a device for guiding material webs coming from a casting wheel of a belt casting machine, in film thickness, with which the material web coming from upstream devices at very different speeds, for example up to 50 m / sec. can be transported without problems and, if necessary, wound.

This object is achieved in that the brush roller is equipped with a plurality of axially spaced annular disk-shaped brush elements, between which extending in the conveying direction of the web of stationary guide elements of a guide cage are arranged.

The device according to the invention adapts to the predetermined conveying speed of the material web due to its equipping with brush elements while slipping. There are no difficulties with tape starts, since the guide elements of the guide cage ensure that the material web remains essentially in the predetermined guide level and does not wind around a brush roll.

The further roller is preferably also designed as a brush roller. Regardless of the formation of the further role, stationary guide elements of the guide cage should also be assigned to the further role. In the case of training as a brush roll, they should also be designed as rods.

To guide the material web, several pairs of oppositely arranged rollers can be arranged in different combinations, namely brush rollers with smooth rollers or grooved rollers or two brush rollers.

In particular, the brush rolls according to the invention can be used to form winding stations with and without a winding core, which enable the material web to be wound up without loss. It is no longer necessary for the initial section to be cut off and lost. According to the invention, such a winding station is characterized in that a plurality of brush rollers with adjoining stationary guide elements are arranged around a common center, each brush roller being equipped with a large number of axially spaced, annular disk-shaped brush elements, between which there is the material web in the conveying direction extending, stationary guide elements of a guide cage are arranged. Such a winding station can be without a winding core in the case of smaller strip lengths. For medium strip lengths, a winding core should be provided, which can also consist of a brush roll according to the invention. In this case, the brush roll is not equipped with guide elements, because the tape is wrapped around the brush roll. In this winding station, the brush forming the winding core ensures slip compensation without it being necessary, as is otherwise necessary, to provide a slip clutch. The compliant brushes ensure that several layers of tape can be wound. Special precautions must be taken to accommodate the many layers only if the length of the tape is longer. According to a first embodiment, the brush rollers with their guide elements are radially adjustable, while according to a second embodiment they are axially displaceable, because it is only necessary for the outer brush rollers to be turned on when winding onto the winding core.

In order to be able to change the winding rolls, according to a further embodiment of the invention two sets of brush rolls arranged around a center can be arranged parallel to one another, with a switch arranged upstream of them.

In the device according to Figures 1 and 2, two pairs of opposing brush rollers 1-4 are arranged one behind the other. These brush rollers 1-4 lead between them a material web 5 in film thickness, which comes from an upstream machine, not shown in the drawing, for example a belt casting machine. Each brush roller 1-4 consists of a core 1a-4a and annular disc-shaped brush elements 1b-4b arranged at an axial distance from one another. The brush rollers 1-4 are rotatably supported in side bearings 6-9 and are driven by gears 10, 11 at a speed which is greater than the speed of the material web 5. Since the brush elements 1b-4b resiliently clamp the material web 5, slippage occurs between the material web 5 and the brush elements 1b-4b, so that the material web 5 is held taut but not overloaded.

Between the brush elements 1b-4b extend rod-shaped, stationary guide elements 12-14, which ensure that a material web start does not wind around one of the brush rollers 1-4, but is fed between the guide elements 12-14 forming a cage to the next brush rollers .

The exemplary embodiment of FIGS. 3 and 4 differs from that of FIGS. 1 and 2 only in that, instead of the lower brush rollers 1, 4, a first roller 15 with a smooth jacket 15a and a second roller 16 with a jacket 16a provided with annular grooves 16b are provided are. Guide elements 17, 18, 19 are provided in front of and behind the rollers 15, 16. The guide element 18 is designed as a plate and adjoins the jacket 15a tightly, while the guide element 19 is provided at least on its front edge with prongs 19a which engage in the annular grooves 16b. In this way it is also ensured that the material web 5 cannot loop around a roll 15, 16.

In the exemplary embodiment in FIGS. 5 and 6, the material web 5 is fed to a winding station 22 by brush rollers 20, 21 corresponding to those in FIGS. 1 and 2. This winding station 22 has four brush rollers 23-26 arranged around a center, corresponding to the brush rollers 1-4 of FIGS. 1 and 2. Rod-shaped guide elements 27, which form a circular cage, extend between the brush elements of these brush rollers 23-26. In the embodiment of FIG. 5, the center is coreless, while in the embodiment of FIG. 5 it has a driven brush roller 28 corresponding to that of FIGS. 1 and 2. Since this brush roller 28 does not need any guiding elements preventing it from being wrapped around, it can also be equipped with brush elements without gaps over its entire axial length.

While in the embodiment of FIG. 5 the brush rollers 23-26 arranged around the center cannot be adjusted radially and axially, in the embodiment of FIG. 6, as shown in FIG. 7 in axial section, they can be adjusted axially to the right from the position shown in the drawing will.

The embodiment of Figure 8 differs from that of Figures 6 and 7 in that the brush rollers 29-32 are not axially but radially adjustable. The brush rollers 29-32 are mounted on swivel arms 33-36. A guide element 37-40 is assigned to each brush roller 32-36 and is pivoted together with the brush roller 29-32.

The axially adjustable brush rollers 23-26 of the embodiment of Figure 7 and the radial
Adjustable brush rollers 29-32 of the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 8 serve to enable the winding process on the brush roller 28 which forms the core. After winding, they are removed from the core so that multi-layer packages can be wound.

The embodiment of FIG. 9 can be realized with winding stations of the embodiments of FIGS. 6-8. In this case, only one switch 41 needs to be provided between the two winding stations 42, 43 arranged one above the other. For this it is necessary that the brush rollers 20, 21 arranged upstream of the winding stations 42, 43 are held in a pivotable frame 44. The exemplary embodiment in FIG. 9 also shows a casting device 43 (not shown in the other figures) with a cooling wheel 46, to which molten metal is applied from a container 47 containing molten metal.
