- the solid central block 2 may include an axial cylindrical recess 5 and is chosen from a material with a high coefficient of expansion, such as aluminum.
- the solid block 2 is internally provided with electrical heating resistors 6 arranged in concentric channels 7 arranged in the block 2, at a suitable distance from its axis.
- the intensity of the current passing through the resistors 6 is adjusted so as to cause a more radial than axial expansion of the material constituting the block 2, and which, taking into account its coefficient of expansion and that of the material constituting the hoop 3 (for example copper), causes a radial expansion of the block 2 equal to that of the hoop 3, caused by heating in contact with the cast liquid metal. Under these conditions, the latter can be maintained during the pouring of the liquid metal in mechanical contact over its entire surface with the block 2 without it being necessary to clamp it as has been proposed so far.
- the heating and cooling of the block 2 are regulated, in transient modes, in particular at the start of casting, according to the same thermal kinetics as that of the hoop 3, according to cycles corresponding to a cylinder revolution, that is to say a few seconds.

- the central block 8 of the cylinder 9 consists of an axial core 11 and an outer casing 12, coated with the hoop 3.
- the casing 12 is connected to the core 11 by a set of radial expansion bars 13, equipped with heating means, for example induction coils 14 wrapped around the bars 13.

- the material constituting the central core 11, the radial bars 13 and the casing 12 is chosen with a sufficiently high coefficient of expansion so that a minimum heating by induction by the coils 14 causes a maximum radial elongation of the bars 13 and a radial expansion corresponding envelope 12.
