Les ratières suivant le système HATTERSLEY sont bien connues dans l'in­dustrie du matériel textile. On sait que dans ces ratières, chacun des cadres de lisses du métier est relié à un levier oscillant qui porte une balance dont chacune des extrémités est pourvue d'un organe d'attelage réalisé sous la forme d'un crochet articulé de tirage. Chaque crochet de tirage est sélectivement actionné par un organe de traction formé par un couteau rigide à mouvement alternatif, propre à déplacer la balance et le cadre de lisses correspondant en fonction de la commande reçue du programme de tissage incorporé au système de sélection, lequel comprend un mécanisme d'actionnement équipé d'un programme et associé à des élé­ments de lecture et de transmission.
