Abstract

In order to be able to make available to customers at consumer markets packages which in each case comprise for example three or more units which are to be removed from the shelf without it being necessary to wrap said packages in a plastic film for transport thereof, provision is made to connect to one another two adjacent packages (1, 2) before stacking with other packages by means of an adhesive tape (3) adhering on two sides, which tape is arranged on the top of a package. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a method for packaging stackable packaging units and the formation of a packaging unit, wherein the packaging unit is to be understood as a so-called multi-piece package or a multipack, which consists of a combination of, for example, three cans or bottles or, for example, as a so-called 6-pack -Package can be formed.

Furthermore, the packaging units can be cartons as well as individual stackable goods that are already pre-packaged. Packaging units of this type are used today in particular on beverage markets or other supermarkets or hypermarkets. The packaging units are offered in a stacked state on shelves or on pallets for the consumer to take with him, giving him the opportunity to pack one or more units, which consist for example of a combination of three or six or another number of units, on the shelf or the pallet.

Multipacks or multi-piece packs are combined into a large number of packaging units for transport on a pallet. For this purpose, it has so far been found to be expedient if a multiplicity of packaging units are stacked on a tray-shaped cardboard tray, which is preferably made of cardboard, and are wrapped or wrapped with a plastic film for their cohesion, which is then shrunk by heat so that they which firmly encloses a transport unit consisting of a large number of packaging units and secures individual packaging units against slipping or falling. In practice, however, this type of packaging has considerable disadvantages. So it is first of all necessary to have to cut the film for the removal of the first packaging units and to remove it from the packaging units. This plastic film then regularly remains as waste after the packaging units have been removed, and they must be disposed of accordingly. Apart from the material costs of the waste, transport and personal costs arise for its disposal costs. It is therefore more advantageous if packaging units can be made available to the consumer while leaving out such cardboard trays and film wraps, which on the one hand can also be placed and transported on a pallet, but do not leave any residues of the type of waste when they are removed from a shelf.

According to the invention, this can be achieved by connecting two adjacent packaging units together with other packaging units on at least one side, that is preferably the top side, before they are stacked, by means of a double-sided adhesive tape. Such a procedure allows a large number of packaging units to be stacked on top of one another without fear of slipping when the stack is lifted in order to place it on a shelf. On the other hand, the consumer can then remove one or more packaging units from the stack without leaving residues such as waste on the shelf. For this it is sufficient if the adhesive tapes are arranged solely on the upper side of the packaging units, so that each layer of stacked packaging units is secured against displacement by the adhesive tapes on the packaging units of the layer below. The removal of individual packaging units from the stack is made easier if the adhesive tape adheres to its top and bottom layers of different adhesive strength. If the external adhesive layer is designed with less adhesive strength than the adhesive layer with which the adhesive tape is attached to a packaging unit, this is sufficient as security against displacement. On the other hand, it makes it easier to tear off an above packaging unit from the packaging unit underneath without being damaged by tearing off its adhesive tape due to its greater adhesion due to the adhesive layer that connects the adhesive tape directly to its carrier.

In principle, however, there is also the possibility of arranging an adhesive tape both on the top and on the bottom of a packaging unit.

In all cases, it is also expedient if the adhesive tapes, which connect two adjacent packaging units to one another, are provided with a tear line or tear seam, so that the consumer has the opportunity to purchase a single packaging unit by tearing it off from the adjacent packaging unit. The manual effort required for this can be reduced even more if the tear seams are provided with separating aids, such as, for example, a tear tape for foils, as is generally also used, for example, for packaging cigarettes in a plastic foil.

In addition, it has been shown to be expedient if transparent adhesive tapes are used, since such adhesive tapes do not impair the legibility or visibility of imprints when they remain on the packaging.

  • Figur 1: einen Stapel von Verpackungseinheiten;
  • Figur 2: ein Klebeband mit Aufreißnaht und
  • Figur 3: ein Klebeband im Querschnitt.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to a drawing. The drawing shows:
  • Figure 1: a stack of packaging units;
  • Figure 2: an adhesive tape with tear seam and
  • Figure 3: an adhesive tape in cross section.

The stack of beer cans shown in FIG. 1 consists of individual packaging units 1 and 2, which are connected to one another in pairs by an adhesive tape 3. Each packaging unit 1, 2 is designed as a so-called three-pack for combining three cans 8.

The adhesive tapes 3 have on their underside a strongly adhesive adhesive layer, for example made of rubber with an adhesive strength of 6.0N (Newton), and on their upper side a weakly adhesive adhesive layer 4, for example of 0.6N, made of acrylate. That leaves the adhesive tape 3 is firmly connected to the packaging units 1 and 2 when packaging units above it are lifted, which are secured against slipping by the external adhesive layer 4 of lower adhesive force.

So that two so-called triple packs do not always have to be removed from the stack together, the adhesive tapes are each provided with a tear seam 6 which runs between two adjacent packaging units 1 and 2, so that a single packaging unit 1 can be removed by tearing this seam 6 is. This is made even easier by the arrangement of a tear tape 7 with which the tear seam can be opened.

Since the aids of the packaging remain connected to the packaging units when the packaging units are removed from the stack, the accumulation of waste on the shelves and thus their elaborate disposal are prevented in comparison with previously known packaging.
