Abstract
The method according to the invention relates to a quilting machine (1) for quilting textile structures made of cover and filler material webs (5, 7), in which the material webs to be quilted are loosely drawn off from supply rolls and sewn along the longitudinal edges (22) of them before entering the tensioning device will. When the longitudinal edges (22) are sewn, a band (35) is sewn on at the same time, which protrudes laterally beyond the workpiece (21) and is used in the clamping device to grip the workpiece (21). It is thus possible to provide a quilting pattern for essentially the entire width of the cover and filler material webs (5, 7). The length of the sections of expensive covering material is thus significantly reduced.
Description
The present invention relates to a method for processing textile material webs, in particular for the production of quilts, according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
The invention further relates to a device for processing textile material webs, in particular for producing quilts, according to the preamble of claim 8.
Quilts and the like consist of several layers of textile fabrics, usually one or more layers of wadding or a fiber filling and an upper and lower layer of cover fabric. These are sewn together using seams, which usually run in an ornamental shape.
The superimposed fabrics and inlays must be held together during quilting so that there is no mutual displacement. For this purpose, the individual layers are fed to the quilting machine, clamped in a frame or held between pairs of rollers before they can be sewn together in a precisely positioned position.
In a quilting machine known from EP-A1-0 3I6 267, the longitudinal edges of the cover and filler webs are sewn together when pulled off the supply rolls, so that the material webs which have not yet been clamped in and are not loosely one above the other cannot move due to the longitudinal movements of the tensioning frame.
This known device perfectly prevents sliding of the still unstitched webs.
A disadvantage of the known machine and also of all other quilting machines is the loss of expensive filler and filler, which is held in the tenter frame in the area of coverage by the collets along the edges and cannot be quilted and consequently has to be cut off as waste.
Hier will die Erfindung Abhilfe schaffen.
The invention seeks to remedy this.
The invention, as characterized in the claims, solves the problem of creating a method and a device with which, or in the endless manufacture of quilts and the like, a mutual displacement of the individual material webs before and during quilting is avoided and essentially a lossless quilting of the entire covering and filler width is made possible.
Surprisingly, it is possible to fix the fabric panels and the filling to one another by means of a tape attached with a seam on the one hand and to hold the section to be quilted outside the edges of the cover fabric on the one hand, along each side along the two edges of the incoming, loosely overlapping cover fabric and filler material sheets . Equal In time with the sewing of the overlapping webs, the parts lying outside the seam can be cut off with a cutting device upstream or downstream of the sewing device. The loss of expensive material, in particular expensive covering material, is significantly less, since only an extremely narrow strip has to be cut off when the tape is removed.
The sewn-on tapes are also particularly advantageous with regard to a secure hold in the collets, since no smooth cover material surfaces and irregularly thick filling materials can interfere with the non-slip hold.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the retaining straps can be used for edging the edges.

The process steps are explained in detail below.
