Aus DIR-Kupplern der Formel I werden bei Farbentwicklung hochwirksame Silberhalogenidentwicklungsinhibitoren freigesezt. Bei Verwendung solcher DIR-Kuppler in farbfotografischen Silberhalogenidmaterialien werden hohe Kanteneffekte und hohe Interimageeffekte erhielt.

In Formel I bedeuten
A den Rest eines Kupplers, der unter den Bedingungen der fotografischen Entwicklung mit dem Oxidations­ produkt eines Silberhalogenidentwicklungsmittels kuppelt und dabei den Rest der Formel
-(TIME)n-Z
freisetzt;
TIME ein Bindeglied, das bei Reaktion des Kupplers mit dem Oxidationsprodukt eines Silberhalogenident­ wicklungsmittels zusammen mit dem daran gebundenen Rest Z (einem Triazolring) freigesetzt wird und seinerseits unter den Entwicklungsbedingungen den Rest Z verzögert freisetzt;
n 0 oder 1;
Z einen Triazolrest einer der Formeln R¹ Alkylthio;
R² H, Alkyl, Alkylthio, Aryl oder eine heterocyclische Gruppe, wobei mindestens einer der Reste R¹ und R² im Abstand von 2 bis 4 Atomen vom Triazolring eine in wäßrigem Alkali verseifbare Gruppe -CO-OR³, -O-CO-OR³ oder -O-CO-R³ enthält;
R³ Alkyl, Cycloalkyl oder Aryl.
Highly effective silver halide development inhibitors are released from DIR couplers of the formula I during color development. When using such DIR couplers in color photographic silver halide materials, high edge effects and high interimage effects are obtained.
