Abstract

To ensure a good rinsing result, the duration of the rinsing operation commences when rinsing water is fed for the last time.

Description

The invention relates to a washing machine with a multi-start washing program section and a program control device which controls a washing water supply device for the purpose of washing and the specified duration of each washing cycle as a function of time and / or water level.

In modern washing machines, e.g. Siemens "Siwamat" type 580, who wash and rinse at low water levels and eject rinsing water from the laundry between two or more rinsing cycles, may experience a lack of rinsing water in the laundry when water is drawn into the laundry. The corresponding washing results are therefore subject to a wide range of fluctuation, depending on the type and amount of laundry stored in the drum.

The invention has for its object to ensure consistently good washing results while avoiding large fluctuation ranges.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the duration of each rinse cycle is calculated from the last rinse water inlet. The invention is based on observation from the fact that highly absorbent laundry (by type or quantity) absorbs so much water after a so-called intermediate spin cycle that the rinse water supply must be switched on at least a second time in each rinse cycle in order to satisfy the total rinse water requirement. Until this rinse water is supplemented, however, part of the rinse cycle already takes place in the known washing machines without full effect, so that the rinse effect of each rinse cycle remains inadequate. If, on the other hand, the duration of each rinse cycle according to the invention is only calculated from the last rinse water inlet, then it can be assumed with a high degree of probability that sufficient rinse water was available for the laundry during the entire intended duration of the rinse cycle.

According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the total time from the first rinse water inlet to the end of the rinse cycle does not exceed a predetermined maximum duration. In this way, any errors that may be present, which would possibly cause endless rinsing, can be transferred.

In the case of electromechanical program control devices, the progress of the program disk controlling each wash cycle can be interrupted and this program disk can be moved back to its starting position by driving over it when a solenoid valve is switched on again for the purpose of the rinse water supply.

A rinse cycle control according to the invention can be accomplished with considerably less effort by means of an electronic program control device, because the electronic resetting of a time-dependent counter when registering a renewed solenoid valve circuit can be carried out with practically no time delay.

The start of the rinse cycle is particularly advantageously placed at the end of the last rinse water inlet. For example, the rinse cycle can begin exactly when the solenoid valve is switched off. In this case, the inflow time, which may also be subject to fluctuations, is not included in the rinse cycle.

Claims (3)

  1. Washing machine with a multiple rinsing program portion and a program control equipment which controls a rinsing water inflow equipment and the fixed duration of each rinsing run in dependence on time and/or water level for the purpose of the rinsing, characterised, thereby, that the duration of each rinsing run is computed from the respectively last rinsing water inflow.
  2. Washing machine according to claim 1, characterised thereby, that the total time from the first rinsing water inflow to the end of the rinsing run does not exceed a predetermined maximum duration.
  3. Washing machine according to claim 1 or 2, characterised thereby, that the rinsing run begins with the end of the last rinsing water inflow.
