Elle vise plus particulièrement un bac perfectionné de coulée de pièces qui remédie aux inconvénients des bacs couramment utilisés en fonderie. Il s'agit généralement de bacs métalliques à parois simples qui sont rigidifiés au moyen de tôles épaisses, très lourdes. Avec ces bacs, la coulée des pièces s'effectue par gravité et le décochage le plus souvent par retournement du bac.
