Abstract

An electrostriction actuator (10) comprises upper and lower electrostriction boards (12, 14), having electrodes (12a, 12b; 14a, 14b) individually on either side thereof, and a conductive shim (16) interposed be­ tween the inside electrodes (12b, 14b). The actuator (10) has a fixed end at one end thereof and a free end for bending movement at the other end. An amplifier (18) for supplying driving voltage to the actuator (10) is an inverted amplifier, whose output terminal is con­ nected to the shim (16), so that an output voltage is supplied to the inside electrodes (12b, 14b). The out­ side electrode (12a) of the upper electrostriction board (12) is connected to a power source (not shown) for supplying constant voltage (+E₀) to the amplifier (18), and the outside electrode (14a) of the lower electro­ striction board (14) is connected to a power source (not shown) for supplying constant voltage (-E₀) to the amplifier (18).
