Description

The invention relates to the manufacturing method and the machine for manufacturing self-adhesive articles as well as the self-adhesive articles obtained. A special feature of these self-adhesive articles is that they consist of two sheet materials, the second covering a portion of the first. Naturally the adhesive surfaces are protected by protective papers. When the user applies this sticker against a transparent surface, we see through the window the second material surrounded by the first material, while the face of the opposite sticker lets see only the first material.

Le procédé de fabrication en série d'articles autocollants selon l'invention est défini par la revendication 1, la machine de fabrication par la revendication 5 et l'article autocollant obtenu par la revendication 6.The method for mass production of self-adhesive articles according to the invention is defined by claim 1, the manufacturing machine by claim 5 and the self-adhesive article obtained by claim 6.

To better understand the invention and its advantages, the self-adhesive article, the manufacturing process and the manufacturing machine according to the invention will be described in detail using embodiments given by way of examples and in referring to the drawings in which
  • fig. 1 represents an exploded section of a self-adhesive article,
  • fig. 2 shows a plan view of the same article with parts torn off
  • and fig. 3 shows a machine for manufacturing such a self-adhesive article.

Cette pièce 6 a le même contour que le contour fermé 9 du trou de la découpe du premier papier protecteur 5.Figures 1 and 2 show a self-adhesive article 1 cut according to an external contour and constituted by a support 3, which can be made of synthetic or natural material, woven or not and whose face 4 is adhesive-coated and covered by a protective paper 5 cut according to a closed contour 9. Inside this contour 9, it there is no protective paper, but a piece of sheet 6 of a second material 7, which is adhesive, is applied to it and is covered on its free face by a protective paper 8. This piece 6 has the same outline as the closed contour 9 of the hole in the cutout of the first protective paper 5.

It is clear that the support 3 may have an adhesive side 4 or else be made of an adhesive material. If it is adhesive, the layer of adhesive material 4 has preferably been laminated to obtain a calibrated coating. Likewise, the second sheet material may either be made entirely of adhesive material, for example synthetic gum or of an adhesive material at least on one side, protected by the protective paper. The protective papers 5 and 8 will preferably be double-sided silicone.

3.To manufacture such self-adhesive articles 1, the manufacturing method according to the invention is used and which will appear in the description below of the manufacturing machine shown in FIG. 3.

This machine 1 is fed with the first strip 2 from a feed roller 11 and with the second strip 6 from the feed roller 12. The first strip 2, consisting of an adhesive-coated support protected by a protective paper 5, passes in front of a first cutting roller 13, which precisely cuts out for each article, according to a closed contour 9, a portion of the protective paper 5, and this without damaging the adhesive-coated support. After this operation, the strip 2 which has become 21 passes in front of an evacuation device 14 which removes the cut of protective paper, for example with a mobile device with vacuum suction cup (not shown) or any other known system. The strip thus obtained 22 joins the second strip 6, so that the face of the strip 6 which does not carry protective paper is applied to the face of the strip 22 carrying a protective paper cut for each article according to the contour 9. These two adjoining strips 22 and 6 pass opposite a second cutting roller 15, the strip 6 on the side of the cutting roller. The second cutting roller 15 has cutting impressions similar to those of the first cutting roller 13 and rotates in perfect synchronism with 13 thanks to the synchronization means 16, so as to cut only the strip 6 according to a contour coinciding with the hole of the cutting protective paper 5 of the underlying strip 22. The part cut from the strip 6 now remains glued to the adhesive side 4 of the support 3 of the strip 2 which becomes 23 after this operation. While the strip 23 advances towards the next operation, the cut strip 6 has become a draft 6 ′ and is directed by the means 15 and 17 to peel off the strip 23 without problem thanks to the protective paper 5 of the first strip. The strip 6 ′ can be separated into its components, the skin 8 ′ of the protective paper 8 wound on a reel and the skin 7 ′ of the adhesive material 7 wound on another reel and can be reused as material first.

The strip 23 now passes through a station cutting the outer contour of the article 1 so that it can be separated from the strip and finally an ejection and storage equipment 19 separates the articles 1 from the strip 24, for example in a pile, while the body 25 will be wound on a towed reel.

The cutting rollers preferably have on their surface several identical cutting imprints, for example six per circumference, and are supported on anvil cylinders. The hardness, etching and finish of each of these cylinders are adapted to the required operation.

The cutting rollers are synchronized with each other, in particular the rollers 13, 15 and 18 by means of the intermediate wheels 16 to guarantee the coincidence of the cuts along the internal contour 9, respectively the arrangement of the external contour of the article compared to 9.

It can be seen that the entire arrangement allows operations to be carried out without risk of sticking in the manufacturing machine, the protective paper always being on the side of the strips where these rest.

Thus a series production of self-adhesive articles is easily achievable and can function without other for 3000 articles manufactured per hour.
