Description

The invention relates to a projectile with a discharge charge for discharging a payload.

In the case of a projectile, the discharge charge is intended to develop gas under high pressure for a comparatively long time in order to safely push out the payload. This requires safe insulation at the start of the combustion of the exhaust charge. According to the conventional state of the art, the discharge charge is accommodated in a thick-walled aluminum cup. The bowl bursts into coarse fragments when it burns. These can damage the payload to be ejected. According to EP-A-0 271 480, faulty ignition of the delay element by torn off aluminum sections is to be prevented. For this purpose, the ejection charge is arranged in a steel bowl which has a plurality of openings in the bottom, that is to say only in the longitudinal direction, the openings being covered with an aluminum foil. The openings are offset with respect to a central ignition opening of a subsequent delay element. Faulty ignition of the delay element cannot, however, be ruled out due to the free distance between the bottom of the cup and the delay element.

The object of the invention is to propose a projectile in which the ejection charge develops a high enough pressure to eject the payload, but does not burst its shell into fragments which can damage the payload.

Die Erfindung löst diese Aufgabe entsprechend den Merkmalen des Anspruches 1.The invention solves this problem in accordance with the features of claim 1.

The receiving body forms the necessary insulation for the discharge charge. When the ejection charge burns off, the wall parts of the weak-walled cup located in the area of the openings are pushed through the openings as a result of the pressure development, and the developing propellant gas flows through the openings and leads to the ejection of the payload. The pressed-through, small wall parts of the bowl are harmless for the payload.

Advantageous refinements of the invention result from the subclaims and the following description of an exemplary embodiment. The figure shows the head area of a projectile in longitudinal section.

A projectile jacket (1) has an internal thread (2). A cylindrical receiving body (3) with a thread (4) is screwed into the internal thread (2). The receiving body (3) protrudes into a pressure chamber (5) of the projectile jacket (1). The receiving body (3) is thick-walled and designed so that it is not destroyed when an ejection charge burns up. A plurality of openings (6) are provided on the receiving body (3) and are distributed in the longitudinal direction and in the circumferential direction on the receiving body (3).

The receiving body (3) has a bottom (7) into which a piece of felt (8) and an intermediate plate (9) are inserted. An ejection charge (10) is inserted into the receiving body (3) and contains an NC propellant charge powder (12) in a weak-walled bowl (11). The bowl (11) consists, for example, of aluminum or cardboard. The cup (11) is closed at the top with a lid (13) made of aluminum or cardboard. An ignition device (14) is screwed into the internal thread (2) adjacent to the cover (13).

A payload (15) to be ejected is mounted on the floor (7) in the projectile jacket (1).

The way it works is as follows:
If the propellant powder (12) is ignited by the ignition device (14), then a pressure develops in it, which allows the wall parts of the bowl (11) lying in the region of the openings (6) to break through the openings (6) one after the other. Propellant gas flows through the openings (6) into the pressure chamber (5). The payload (15) is thereby pushed out.
