- wheel grinding devices are used in which the course of the curved surface is carried out via a grinding wheel controlled by a cam wheel.
- a grinding wheel In the case of such a grinding wheel, the grinding wheel resting with its edge on the cylinder surface cannot avoid grooves on the machined cylinder surface. If there is more wear, the surface will also have to be over-rotated, while leveling and fine grinding will then have to be carried out.

- This also ensures a uniform heat distribution and thus also a uniform expansion of the cylinder surface, which is particularly important in the radial direction, as a result of which a more precise cylinder geometry is achieved.
- the carrier is shielded from the cylinder surface to be machined with a special heating plate, which prevents deformation of the carrier, which leads to higher precision of the machining cylinder and the time-consuming preheating of the grinding device, which would otherwise be necessary, is unnecessary.

Abstract
Description
2.2. The invention relates to a method and a device for copy grinding and smoothing cylindrical and spherical surfaces according to the preamble of
In known grinding devices of this type, wheel grinding devices are used in which the course of the curved surface is carried out via a grinding wheel controlled by a cam wheel. In the case of such a grinding wheel, the grinding wheel resting with its edge on the cylinder surface cannot avoid grooves on the machined cylinder surface. If there is more wear, the surface will also have to be over-rotated, while leveling and fine grinding will then have to be carried out.
As a result, several time-consuming work processes are usually required. Furthermore, overturning and additional grinding work results in greater material removal of the cylinder, which reduces the overall service life of the cylinder to be treated.
Such work on the cylinder ends, which have slightly convex edges, is particularly difficult and complex, and special devices for grinding these parts are required.
In addition, it is necessary to preheat the lathes or grinding machines, which are not protected by radiant heat from the heated cylinders, over a long period of time.
A device of this type is known from DE-OS 36 39 264. In this case, a support is provided between two brackets arranged on columns, and an adjustable copying template designed as a guideway and corresponding to the desired value of the spherical surface accuracy is provided. An abrasive belt device with an abrasive belt drive, an infeed slide with adjusting devices with axially movable guide bushings and a tensioning device are arranged on the copying template and the carrier.
A disadvantage, however, which generally exists in the case of precision grinding of worn cylinder surfaces, is that the partial surfaces protruding from the cylinder surface are removed first. When cylinders are heated, different radiation conditions arise between machined and non-machined cylinder surfaces, which lead to heat differences in the cylinder wall, where different expansions arise between machined and non-machined partial surfaces.
The invention has for its object to avoid such large differences in expansion between the protruding and the smoother worn cylinder part surfaces in order to achieve higher machining precision and to enable shorter grinding times with less material removal and thereby longer overall service life of the cylinders.
This object is achieved by the features specified in the characterizing part of
An advantage of the method according to the invention is, in particular, that the grinding with the subsequent fine grinding is preceded by a grinding phase in which the grinding belt is pressed against the outer surface of the cylinder under a predetermined pressure within a play that can be set between the copying template and the contact roller, so that the Cylinder surface is removed evenly regardless of its geometry. This also ensures a uniform heat distribution and thus also a uniform expansion of the cylinder surface, which is particularly important in the radial direction, as a result of which a more precise cylinder geometry is achieved.
Furthermore, there are also shorter grinding times with less material removal and thus a longer overall service life of the cylinders to be machined and savings on grinding belts.
In the device, in addition to the usual infeed of the sanding belts to the cylinder surface, the adjusting device also carries out an adjustable play movement X or X 'between the copying template and the contact roller, preferably with an adjustment X / 2 = X' / 2.
The carrier is shielded from the cylinder surface to be machined with a special heating plate, which prevents deformation of the carrier, which leads to higher precision of the machining cylinder and the time-consuming preheating of the grinding device, which would otherwise be necessary, is unnecessary.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject of the invention is shown.

The self-centering of the
The running position of the
The threaded
The mode of operation of the invention is explained in more detail with reference to FIGS. 1 to 3.
The
The
Due to the upstream grinding phase according to the invention with a play movement X or X 'taking place depending on the given irregularities of the cylinder surface' of the
The device according to the invention is preferably used oil-free, ie as a dry grinding device. However, it is readily possible to use it to carry out a wet grinding known per se.
