Abstract

Hood (10) for collecting and conveying fumes originated from boilers or the like, comprising a first chamber (11) for conveying the fumes, a second chamber (12) for conveying the fumes and an exhaust duct (13), in which hood (10) the walls (14,15) delimiting said second chamber (12) form at least one secondary duct (16) for conveying the fumes, and wherein at least one sensor (17) is disposed inside of said at least one secondary duct (16), said at least one sensor (17) being suitable for sending a signal for blocking the operation of said boilers or the like as a consequence of the present of a predetermined quantity of fumes within said at least one secondary duct (16).

Description

  • The present invention relates to a hood for collecting and conveying fumes originated from boilers or the like.
  • More particularly, the present invention relates to a hood for collecting and conveying fumes originated from boilers or the like, comprising a safety device for automatically blocking the operation of the boiler in the case where irregularities in the discharging way of the fumes were present.
  • Such a hood may be mainly applied in the field of the thermomechanical industry.
  • It is known that from the combustion zone of a boiler fumes are generated, which are collected by a hood disposed over the boiler, from which hood a vertically directed suction duct departs for dispersing outside the residual combustion products.
  • It is also known that after a certain period of operating time the exhaust pipe may become partially or totally obstructed, and this may generate some very deterimental effects cause of the dispersion of the smoke inside of the heated room, with very dangerous consequences due to the presence of carbon oxide.
  • The present invention aims to allow a correct operation of boilers and, more particularly, it is a purpose of the present invention to allow the fumes generated during the combustion process of boilers to be properly fed to the exhaust pipes which convey said fumes outside.
  • Therefore, by means of the hood according to the present invention, it is possible to totally eliminate the risk of an accidental leakage of the exhaust fumes inside of the utilization room caused, by way of example, by the obstruction of the exhaust pipe or by other discharging anomalies.
  • This is achieved by means of a hood having the features disclosed in claim 1.
  • The dependent claims describe advantageous forms of embodiment of the invention.
  • The hood according to the present invention comprises a simple, nevertheless effective device for intercepting the fumes within emergency paths and for automatically blocking the boiler operation until the function of the exhaust pipe is restored again.
  • Other advantages and features of the invention will become apparent by reading the following description, of a form of embodiment of the invention, given as a non-limiting example, by means of the annexed drawing, in which:
    • - fig. 1 shows a schematic side view of a hood according to the present invention and
    • - fig. 2 shows a plan view of a hood according to the present invention.
  • In the drawing, reference sign 10 generally indicates a hood or fumes collector according to the present invention.
  • Said hood is suitable for intercepting the fumes originated, for instance, by the burner of a boiler or by other smaller combustion processes.
  • Said hood 10 comprises a first chamber 11 delimited by planar or arcuated walls which convey the fumes towards a second chamber 12 and from the latter, by means of generally planar walls 14, towards an aspiration duct 13.
  • Said generally planar walls 14 of said second chamber 12 constitute, together with the generally arcuated walls 15 delimiting said first chamber 11 from said second chamber 12, a pair of secondary ducts 16, inside of at least one of which is placed a sensor 17 applied on a fixed board 18.
  • Said sensor 17, which is sensitive to the presence of heat and which may be suitable set to a predetermined temperature, is directly connected to the solenoid valve controlling the delivery of gas and, consequently, the burner operation.
  • During the normal operation, the fumes coming from the chamber 11 are conveyed to the chamber 12 and from the latter they are canalized towards the aspiration duct 13 which discharges the fumes outside in the atmosphere.
  • In the case of occurence of aspiration anomalies due, for instance, to a partial or total obstruction of the duct 13, the fumes stagnate within the chamber 12 and they are is conveyed to the side ducts 16, which represent the only possible outlet for the fumes.
  • In this zone operates the sensor 17 which overheats as a consequence of the action of the fumes and which sends a blocking signal to the gas delivering device or the like causing the automatic stop of the same.
  • An advantageous form of embodiment of the invention has been here described.
  • However, the invention comprises several variants which fall within its scope.
  • Thus, forms of embodiment fall within the scope of the invention according to which the sensor applied to the hood is sensitive to parameters other than heat, e.g. change of pressure or other hydraulic or pneumatic parameters, or where the sensor is placed in a zone of the secondary ducts different from the one shown in the accompanying drawing, or where the hood would be provided with a plurality of sensors sensitive to different parameters, or where the hood delimiting walls would have different shapes and/or proportions from those shown in the drawing.

Claims (4)
