Definitions
- the invention relates to a method and a device for operating a burner with high exit speeds of the combustion gas mixture, the burner being supplied with fuel gas and oxygen gas.
- Processes with high exit speeds of the fuel gas-oxygen gas mixture from burners are used in many ways. Important areas of application are, for example, flame blasting, heating processes, hardening processes, etc.
- a major problem that arises with these processes is that the burner flame is free-burning, ie when burning without a workpiece being in the burner flame, for example, due to the high Remove the exit velocity of the gas mixture very far from the burner. This is referred to as lifting the flame off the burner. which often causes the burner to go out.
- the back pressure which can be builds up the flame arranged workpiece, prevents lifting of the flame. If the burner swings out of its position or the workpiece is changed, for example, the flame may lift off and go out. Thereupon the burner has to be re-ignited and the setting of its normal function has to be awaited again. This therefore leads to undesired disruptions and interruptions in a process.
- the aim of the proposed method is therefore to achieve an improvement in the operation of a burner with high exit speeds.
- This object is achieved in that when a high exit velocity of the combustion gas mixture is required, this is brought about by increasing the oxygen gas supply, while at other times the oxygen gas supply is reduced in such a way that an approximately neutral, non-lifting flame is produced.
- This measure ensures that the burner flame is lifted and extinguished in corresponding operating situations, e.g. when swiveling out and putting on the burner again, because in these phases the oxygen or air supply and thus the total gas throughput through the burner is reduced.
- a device for performing the method consists of a burner with a controllable fuel gas and an oxygen gas supply line and has in particular the feature that the oxygen gas supply line is branched into a base line and an additional line at least on a partial route, both in the A control valve is arranged in the base line as well as in the additional line and a switching element for closing and opening the additional line is also located in the additional line.
- the switchable additional line part of the amount of oxygen gas can be switched on and off independently.
- the pressures on the control valves are set so that an approximately neutral, non-lifting flame is produced without actuation of the switching valve, i.e. with the auxiliary line in the oxygen gas supply closed.
- the control valve in the additional line of the oxygen gas supply is adjusted so that, when the additional line is open, the necessary additional amount of oxygen gas flows in order to obtain the desired exit velocity of the combustion gases from the burner.
- the figure shows a burner with gas supply according to the invention.
- Supply lines 7, 8 for the combustion gases open into a burner 1.
- Oxygen gas for example oxygen
- supply line 7 and supply line 8 serves to supply the burner 1 with fuel gas, for example acethylene.
- the oxygen gas supply line 7 is divided over a section in front of the burner into two branches 9, 10, which are referred to as base line 9 and additional line 10. Both in base line 9 and Additional line 10 and also in the fuel gas supply line 8 there are control valves 3, 6, 2.
- a switching valve 5 is arranged in the additional line 10, with which the additional line 10 can be opened and closed.
- control valves 2, 3, 6 are to be set as follows: when the switch 5 is closed, the control valves 2, 3 are adjusted so that there is an approximately neutral flame (mixing ratio of oxygen to acetylene about 1.1: 1) and one Exit velocity of the combustion gas mixture from the burner results in that the burner flame cannot be lifted. When switch 5 is open, the control valve 6 is opened to such an extent that the desired exit velocity of the combustion gas mixture results. The total amount of oxygen gas can be increased by 1.5 to 3 times, which in this operating situation results in a different mixing ratio of the combustion gases than with the switch 5 closed.
- the invention is based precisely on the knowledge that the mixing ratio can be varied in many applications and it has been shown that an increase in the amount of oxygen gas by 1.5 to 3 times with a skillful setting of the basic amount of oxygen gas and fuel gas is possible in many cases and precisely in the sense the invention is advantageous.
- the method according to the invention is also particularly suitable for use in continuous production processes, since the switchover between the two operating states can be automated without any problems by using suitable detection, control and switching elements.
- the method according to the invention for operating burners with high gas mixture outlet speeds thus provides an improvement of such methods, in particular with regard to the risk of the burner flame being lifted off, and can be implemented with relatively little effort.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method and a device for operating a burner with high exit speeds of the combustion gas mixture, the burner being supplied with fuel gas and oxygen gas.
Processes with high exit speeds of the fuel gas-oxygen gas mixture from burners are used in many ways. Important areas of application are, for example, flame blasting, heating processes, hardening processes, etc. A major problem that arises with these processes is that the burner flame is free-burning, ie when burning without a workpiece being in the burner flame, for example, due to the high Remove the exit velocity of the gas mixture very far from the burner. This is referred to as lifting the flame off the burner. which often causes the burner to go out. Normally, the back pressure, which can be builds up the flame arranged workpiece, prevents lifting of the flame. If the burner swings out of its position or the workpiece is changed, for example, the flame may lift off and go out. Thereupon the burner has to be re-ignited and the setting of its normal function has to be awaited again. This therefore leads to undesired disruptions and interruptions in a process.
The aim of the proposed method is therefore to achieve an improvement in the operation of a burner with high exit speeds.
This object is achieved in that when a high exit velocity of the combustion gas mixture is required, this is brought about by increasing the oxygen gas supply, while at other times the oxygen gas supply is reduced in such a way that an approximately neutral, non-lifting flame is produced.
This measure ensures that the burner flame is lifted and extinguished in corresponding operating situations, e.g. when swiveling out and putting on the burner again, because in these phases the oxygen or air supply and thus the total gas throughput through the burner is reduced.
A device for performing the method consists of a burner with a controllable fuel gas and an oxygen gas supply line and has in particular the feature that the oxygen gas supply line is branched into a base line and an additional line at least on a partial route, both in the A control valve is arranged in the base line as well as in the additional line and a switching element for closing and opening the additional line is also located in the additional line.
With the help of the switchable additional line, part of the amount of oxygen gas can be switched on and off independently. During burner operation, the pressures on the control valves are set so that an approximately neutral, non-lifting flame is produced without actuation of the switching valve, i.e. with the auxiliary line in the oxygen gas supply closed. On the other hand, the control valve in the additional line of the oxygen gas supply is adjusted so that, when the additional line is open, the necessary additional amount of oxygen gas flows in order to obtain the desired exit velocity of the combustion gases from the burner.
In the following the invention will be explained in more detail by way of example with reference to the figure.
The figure shows a burner with gas supply according to the invention.
To carry out the method according to the invention, the
If high exit speeds are required, the burner is therefore operated with the
The method according to the invention is also particularly suitable for use in continuous production processes, since the switchover between the two operating states can be automated without any problems by using suitable detection, control and switching elements.
The method according to the invention for operating burners with high gas mixture outlet speeds thus provides an improvement of such methods, in particular with regard to the risk of the burner flame being lifted off, and can be implemented with relatively little effort.
