Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a device for fixing a pad of fibrous material, as well as a surface cleaning machine equipped with said device.
More particularly, although not exclusively, the invention applies to the fixing, in a surface cleaning machine, of an alternative support or of a rotary cleaning disc made of fibrous material. Up to now, a large number of plastic pins have been used for this purpose, distributed over a support of shape corresponding to that of the cleaning disc at variable inclinations with respect to said support, as described in US Pat. 739. This solution is not entirely satisfactory. Indeed, on the one hand, it is not easy to make the pins penetrate into the fibrous material because of their too great flexibility and, on the other hand, once they have penetrated into the fibrous material, they do not provide an absolutely effective fixing of the cleaning disc, and the latter, in operation, that is to say rotating at high speed, may escape from the support. Furthermore, the progressive clogging of the disc, after a more or less prolonged use, generally makes it even more difficult for the spikes to penetrate the fibrous material, during the inversion of said disc in order to use the clean side thereof.
The object of the present invention is to avoid these drawbacks, and relates to a device for fixing a pad of fibrous material, by means of which the latter, whether it belongs to a cleaning utensil or whether it constitutes a rotating disc. a surface cleaning machine can be easily and securely attached to a support even in the event of clogging of said pad.
To this end, the device for fixing a pad of fibrous material is remarkable, according to the invention, in that that it comprises a plurality of sets of metal hooks, each set comprising a plurality of pairs of said hooks, said hooks being fixed to a support, the hooks of each pair being opposite one another.
This particular arrangement of the hooks, which can easily penetrate into the fibrous material, guarantees a better fixing of the tampon, even when great forces are applied to it, as is the case in a surface cleaning machine with a rotating disc.
Avantageusement, lesdits ensembles sont rectilignes.Advantageously, said assemblies are rectilinear.
According to other features of the invention, either the hooks of each pair are opposite one another, or the hooks of a set are staggered.
In particular, the hooks can be partially embedded in a layer of resin provided on said support.
According to another characteristic of the invention, each set of hooks is produced from a helical spring cut longitudinally.
According to yet another characteristic of the invention, each set of hooks is produced from a spring of triangular cross section cut longitudinally.
According to another characteristic of the invention, each pair of hooks has a general shape of V, the ends of the branches of which are curved inwards.
Avantageusement, dans ce dernier cas, chaque ensemble de crochets est constitué par une pluralité de paires de crochets reliées par une baguette solidaire du fond des V.Advantageously, in the latter case, each set of hooks is constituted by a plurality of pairs of hooks connected by a rod secured to the bottom of the V.
In particular, for fixing a surface cleaning disc made of fibrous material, the device comprises a support of discoid shape corresponding to that of said cleaning disc, on which support are provided sets of hooks for attaching said disc. cleaning said support. Advantageously, said sets of hooks are radial.

Figure 8 is a schematic perspective view of a machine for surface cleaning which can be equipped with the fixing device according to the invention.
Figure 9 is a partial top view of a support disc having radial sets of pairs of hooks according to the invention.
The figures of the appended drawing illustrate different embodiments of the device for fixing a pad of fibrous material according to the invention (Figures 1 to 7), as well as the use of such a device in a surface cleaning machine ( Figures 8 to 10).
The
When the hooks are made from a spring, it can be seen that the combined inclinations of a pair of hooks make it possible to react correctly to omni-directional stresses.
As shown in Figures 5 and 6, another possibility is that each
The
The
