Figure 1 is a perspective view of a machine for grinding ophthalmic lenses according to the invention with its cover in the high position, closed.

Figure 2 shows the same machine, in perspective, but with its cover in the low, open position.

Figure 5 is a detail view of a variant of the hood drive means.

En se référant aux figures 1 et 2, on a représenté une machine à meuler les verres ophtalmiques suivant l'invention, qui comprend un carter 1 de forme générale parallélépipédique (suivant l'exemple représenté) ouvert à sa partie supérieure, logeant le mécanisme de la machine et dans lequel est articulé un capot 2 comportant deux joues latérales parallèles 3 reliées par une partie intermédiaire 4 sur un bord supérieur de laquelle est articulé un panneau transparent 5.Referring to Figures 1 and 2, there is shown a machine for grinding ophthalmic lenses according to the invention, which comprises a casing 1 of generally parallelepipedal shape (according to the example shown) open at its upper part, housing the mechanism the machine and in which a cover 2 is articulated comprising two parallel lateral cheeks 3 connected by an intermediate part 4 on an upper edge of which is articulated a transparent panel 5.

As known per se, the machine mechanism comprises a first horizontal axis 6, rotary, carrying a grinding wheel 7 and driven by a motor 8 carried by a support 9. Preferably the grinding wheel 7 rotates in the lower part, open upwards, a secondary casing 10 in two parts, for a purpose which will be indicated below.

The arrangement is such that the carriage 13 can oscillate around the axis 11 behind and above the grinding wheel 7 in order to apply the glass to be ground on it, from top to bottom by gravity. On a continuation of the axis 14 is mounted a template 16, externally to the carriage 13, this template also being applied from top to bottom on a key, or stop, 17.

D'une façon avantageuse le verre 15 tourne, entre les ailes du chariot 13, dans la partie supérieure 10', ouverte vers le bas, du carter secondaire 10.Advantageously, the glass 15 rotates, between the wings of the carriage 13, in the upper part 10 ′, open downwards, of the secondary casing 10.

The carriage 13 can thus oscillate around the axis 11 between a low position shown in FIG. 4 in which the glass 15 is in contact with the grinding wheel 7 and / or the template 16 with the key 17, and a high position shown at Figure 3 in which the glass is spaced from the grinding wheel. In these two positions, the carriage 13 - and the part 10 'of the cover 10 - protrude upwards, outside the casing 1.

According to the invention the intermediate part 4 of the cover 2 is arranged parallel to the axis 11 and on the side opposite to the grinding wheel relative to this axis, and the cover 2 is articulated in the casing 1 by means of two pins 19 integral with the casing 1 and which extend through corresponding holes provided at the ends of the side flanges of the cover 1, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, along the two opposite sides of the casing 1.

Grâce à cet agencement, le capot peut osciller verticalement autour des tourillons 19 entre la position basse représentée en trait plein et la position haute représentée en trait mixte à la figure 4.Thanks to this arrangement, the cover can oscillate vertically around the pins 19 between the low position shown in solid lines and the high position shown in phantom in FIG. 4.

To carry out this movement, a drive device is provided which comprises a motor 20, fixed on a lug 21 integral with one of the supports 12 of the axis 11 of the carriage and extending towards the grinding wheel 7.

The motor 20 first of all drives a reduction box 22 having an output pinion which attacks a toothed sector or other rack 23 fixed on the internal face of the corresponding cheek 3.

When the cover 2 is in the high position, as shown in phantom, the panel 5 is folded under its own weight over the entire mechanism of the machine, in the closed position.

To ensure the opening of this panel when the cover passes into the low position, there is provided on each of the supports 12 of the axis 11 an arm 24 which extends upwards, approximately vertically, and has at its end upper a roller 25. When the cover descends to its low position, the panel 5 abuts on the rollers 25 which hold it in the high position by making it oscillate around its articulation on the upper edge of the intermediate part of the cover 2.

Finally, means are provided for causing the carriage to be raised, from its low position, at the same time as the cover 2 passes from its high position to its low position.

For this purpose there is provided a finger 26 projecting from the internal surface of the intermediate part of the cover 2, in the direction of the axis 11 of the carriage, and a corresponding finger 27 from the rear part of the carriage, projecting towards the part intermediate of the cover and in front of the finger 26 (Figure 3) and below the latter.

It is understood that when the cover 2 descends, its finger 26 comes to bear on the finger 27 of the carriage, thereby causing the latter to tilt upwards.

On a représenté à la figure 5 une variante des moyens d'entraînement du capot par le moteur 20.FIG. 5 shows a variant of the means for driving the cover by the motor 20.

In this variant, the output member of the reduction gear 22 is a wheel 28 on which is articulated one end of a link 29 the other end of which is articulated on a lug 30 secured to one end of the corresponding cheek 3.

The wheel 28 has on its periphery two cavities 31 diametrically opposed and there is provided a microswitch 32 in elastic engagement with one of the cavities 31, this microswitch having the function of controlling the start and stop of the motor 20 in the high positions and bottom of cover 2.
